Disappointment comes to mind.
Since he's left office running California, we've heard plenty of Arnold Schwarzenegger mulling through potential projects for his return to the silver screen. My personal number-one concern was, in order for him gain acceptance from the general public, Arnold would be wise to take on something that while filling his action quota (because yeah who doesn't love to see the guy kick ass?) he also needed to embrace and admit to audiences, and in a way himself, that yes, he's gotten older. He doesn't run as fast as he used to or crack a baddie's skull as easily as in say Total Recall.
So honestly, it's disappointing to hear from "TOLDJA" that Schwarzenegger is now attached to headline a brand-new Terminator film with the previously-rumored Justin Lin (as first broken by What's Playing) to direct. No screenwriter is on-board as of now nor is a studio officially committed to the package deal (although Lionsgate, Sony and Universal are greatly interested).
And you just know the producers will use the lack of Arnold in the much-hyped Terminator: Salvation as the reasoning for its under-performance; something that isn't entirely wrong. But then again how would they justify the "OK, but not great either" box-office of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines that Arnold actually starred in?
I just go back to my main point. After all these years (and how we've seen him age), are people going to want to see Arnold (in his mid-60s by the time this new film would drop) walking around in his signature role once again? More importantly, would they accept it?
