"Wolfman" News & A New Poster

LatinoReview have the hook up on a new international poster for "The Wolfman," I think it's fantastic, much more subtle and creepy than the bog standard Wolfman's head poster, however it may be too subtle for the modern audience.

More concerning than the mentality of the modern audience is the news from /Film of editors being brought in to try and salvage the film.

The lastest turnover on the production is the hiring of two new editors, in the stead of the previously attached Dennis Virkler - though at least Virkler got to add the film to his stunning resume of crowd displeasers, alongside Xanadu, Freejack, the Schumacher Batman films and other such gems. The production really couldn’t have called on a pair of more impressive names to save the day, however, with action expert Mark Goldblatt and all-round Edit Bay Yoda Walter Murch getting the nod.

Amongst other credits, Goldblatt was the editor of Cameron’s Terminator films and the only Michael Bay films to be remotely comprehensible, and directed second unit on Robocop; while Murch was the sound editor on The Conversation and The Godfather Part 2, sound and picture editor of Apocalypse Now, editor of Ghost and The Talented Mr. Ripley, and director of Return to Oz.

Joe Johnson has always seemed a solid if unremarkable director, certainly one who will deliver if the material is decent, however it seems something went badly wrong on Wolfman and this must raise questions over his suitability to direct "Captain America."

    "Crazy Heart" Poster and Trailer

I've not really enjoyed this years movie offerings, the blockbuster season was one of the worst in living memory and there has been very little in the way of quality since "Star Trek," granted I am gonna have to catch "Moon" and "500 Days of Summer" on DVD, but still, you get my point.

So we are now heading into the Christmas ether which will bring "Sherlock Holmes" and "Avatar," both of which I will probably see but am not particularly hyped for, so as I prepared to don my warm coat for a movie winter of discontent it was with great susprise and pleasure I was introduced to the movie this article is about "Crazy Heart." a friend of mine put me on to it yesterday when he sent me a link to the poster and then last night the trailer popped up, it was like the first real glimmer of the post Christmas awards season cracking through the dense winter gloom!

First the synopsis, poster and trailer, then some thoughts:

Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges) is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who's had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road and one too many drinks way too many times. And yet, Bad can’t help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean (Maggie Gyllenhaal), a journalist who discovers the real man behind the musician.

Apparently it is already gaining Oscar buzz, espeically the performance of Bridges, in a role that is garnering comparisons to Mickey Rourke's comeback toure deforce in "The Wrestler."

The trailer for me was pitch perfect, an understated character drama, beautifully lensed, that runs the gamut of emotions (I am also looking forward to the soundtrack), it's such a refreshing change from the endless stream of huge CGI soaked trailers with MTV music blaring over the top.......Yeah, I'm getting old folks.

Harrison Ford takes "Extraordinary Measures" in New Trailer

    First a quick plot synopsis:

Based on the true story of John and Aileen Crowley, who finance a cure for a rare disease that is killing two of their children.

You may be asking what the smell is currently infesting your nose, that! .... good readers, is the whiff of manipulative cheese eminating from every frame of this Hallmark channel afternoon movie, masquerading as a cinemsa release. To think, Indiana Jones and Rick O'Conell finally on screen together and this is the best they could do.....

"Extraordinary Measures" will be making middle aged Ladies weep from January 22, 2010 and you can check the trailer out below.

    "Kick Ass" Teaser Trailer

I've never read the book and I haven't been particularly enticed by any of the material released for this so far, maybe I am just too old to get this Juno with costumes thing but the trailer does little to change my mind, although the opening gag is amusing despite it's obviousness.

"Kick Ass" opens April 16 2010 and you can check the teaser out below.

    New "Avatar" TV Spot

Lots has been written about "Avatar" way to much of it about the technology, of which I could not care less. The last trailer was decent and showcased some story but I'm honestly not feeling this despite being a huge Cameron fan.

This new TV spot kinda promotes the movie as a Disney "Gee shucks" family adventure movie for the holidays, and the footage plays like a "What if the Ewoks were blue cat people?" Elseworlds project.

    Check it out below!

New "From Paris With Love" posters

Craveonline have exclusive new character posters from upcominng action movie "From Paris With Love." Directed by Pierre Morel (Taken) and starring John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, the film is in the vein of the classic mismatched buddy cop films of the 80's, whether this will prove a second big hit for Morel after the sleeper smash "Taken," remains to be seen, but these posters do little to entice youtowant to see it, however the trailer was solid.

"From Paris With Love" hits cinemas Febuary 5th 2010, and you can check the posters out below.

    Johnny Depp is "The Tourist"

This US remake of French thriller "Anthony Zimmer" has been playing a game of muscial chairs with it's cast and director choices, but finally it seems the studio have hit on a pairing that will have them drooling at the mouth and seeing $ signs dancing across their eyes.

Johnny Depp is the latest to sign on for the male lead (once set for Tom Cruise and then Sam Worthington) and he will star oppostie the already cast Angelina Jolie (Who replaced Charlize Theron).

Directing duties have shifted a number of times as well but it seems they have finally settled on the rather awesome choice of Alfonso "Children of Men" Cuaron!

With the sexy, megastar box office drawing lead combo (who also happen to be fine actors) and a gifted director like Cuaron, this is suddenly shaping up to be one to keep tabs on.

    The Hollywoodreporter has the details:

Spyglass Entertainment's thriller remake "The Tourist" has run into another set of hiccoughs, with major players shifting around like luggage on a conveyor. Male lead Sam Worthington has fallen off, and Johnny Depp is in negotiations to replace him.

Additionally, after flirting with the project director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck has moved on, and Alfonso Cuaron is in early talks to step in. Bharat Nalluri was once attached to direct with Tom Cruise in the lead role.

Angelina Jolie -- herself a recent replacement for Charlize Theron, who was long attached to the project -- remains in the lead female role.

The revamp of the 2005 French spy thriller "Anthony Zimmer" involves a female Interpol agent who ropes an everyman American tourist visiting France into being bait in the hunt for a wanted criminal who's also her former lover.

Graham King's GK Films is financing and distributing through its new output deal with Sony.

The UTA-repped Depp has several films in the can -- "Alice in Wonderland," "The Rum Diary" -- but has been waiting to get his next project moving. The fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" at Disney had been a strong possibility.

    "Drive Angry" Plot Details

What is Drive Angry? I hear you ask! Well it's the crazy new Nic Cage movie I answer!

Yes, the Lord of Toupee's never met an action script he didn't like and this one sounds like another doozy, Cage has had an up and down career and "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" seems like a return to form for the undoubtedly talented actor, however he is set to follow it up with this insane sounding gridnhouse influenced action movie from the guy who directed "My Bloody Valentine 3D."

    Shocktillyoudrop scooped the details!

Drive Angry stars Nicolas Cage as Milton, a hardened felon who has broken out for one last chance at redemption. Hell bent on stopping a vicious cult of fanatics who murdered his daughter, he has three days to stop them before they sacrifice his infant granddaughter beneath a full moon. Milton must use his anger to go beyond all human limits in order to save his last connection with humanity.

He's joined by Piper, a young sexy-smart waitress who liberates her ex-boyfriend's cherry red muscle car in order to help Milton. Now, the two of them are hot on the trail of the charismatic Jonah King and his murderous followers. King will throw every one of them faithful under the wheels of Milton's turbo-charged Black '71 Challenger, to fulfill hist destiny and unleash hell on earth.

But the bloodthirsty cult is the least of Milton's problems. The police are after him, too. And worse. An enigmatic killer known only as "The Accountant." The Accountant knows what Milton is trying to and and simply doesn't care. With wicked cunning and hypnotic savagery, the Accountant will relentlessly pursue Milton at high speed across the forgotten back roads of the American south.

Fueled by high octane and pure rage, Milton and Piper must battle the onslaught of King's disciples, avenge his murdered daughter, and save his granddaughter before his last chance at redemption is revoked.

    "Prince of Persia" Trailer Description

Comingsoon.Net has a description up for the teaser trailer for upcoming Jerry Bruckhiemer blockbuster "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time." You can see the trailer in theaters from November 13th and no doubt on the interwebs artound that time as well, for now you can read the description below.

The two-minute trailer starts off with a glimpse of the mythical land of Persia, which looks stunning, and then a brief look at the dagger that's enclosed in a glass case.

"Have you ever wondered how you could have found such a treasure? The gods have a plan for you. A destiny," we hear the princess saying as short clips of the scenes mentioned above play on the screen.

We then see Gyllenhaal jumping off a cliff and a few seconds later climbing a wall with arrows as his stepping stones. Someone shoots at him and he turns around looking nervous but annoyed as well.

"The sand turns back time," the audience is told a few seconds into the trailer. "Only the holder of the dagger is aware of what's happening."

A quick clip is is shown of the prince holding the dagger and turning into sand.

"Only the dagger can unlock the sands of time. There are those who would use this power to destroy the world," Arterton's character explained. "The only way to stop this Armageddon is to take the dagger to the secret guardian temple."

Although the footage we saw was brief, which made it difficult to see where the story is going, the rivalry and tension between the prince and princess was very clear. Their witty banter was entertaining and well-written.

"You really enjoy telling me what to do don't you?" Gyllenhaal's character sarcastically asks.

"Only because you're so good at following orders," the princess quickly snaps back.

"Don't press your luck. The Sands of Saint, they strike terror into the heart of all they cross," he replies.

"Such a noble prince - leaping to assist the fallen beauty," she says.

"Who said you were a beauty," he laughs.

"There must be some reason why you can't take your eyes off me," she says.

He then tries to say something but begins to stutter, not knowing how to respond to the princess' feisty comebacks.

Next up was a scene showing a wicked force holding a snake.

"The high temple is guarded by some sort of demon," the princess said.

The following scene was the two with a group of people walking. She asks where the dagger is and he tells her, "You're welcome to search me for it. You need to be very thorough."

She looked intrigued by his scandalous offer, but tried to pretend like she was irritated by him.

The final clip in the trailer was the prince fighting off a rather large snake and the mouth of the reptile was open and about to bite him.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time hits theaters on May 28, 2010. Stay tuned for when the trailer comes online!

    24 Season 8 Teaser!

I'm a confessed 24 junkie, Jack Bauer is my favourite TV character of all time and I own all the seasons on DVD, so I am of course looking forward to Day 8 after Day 7 mostly redeeemed the lackkluster Day 6 which followed the amazingly brilliant Day 5 and so on...

From the glimpses we are afforded here it looks like we have a retired Jack getting involved in a big assassination plot, the action looks like it's been given a budget injection as with every season and the intensity levels are as usual high, Jack is smiling though which is new, also for fans of the Shield keep your eye out for David Aceveda, now if only they had brought in Vic Mackey, Bauer vs Mackey = RATINGS!!

24 Season 8 starts next January and you can check out the first teaser below.
