    Trailer Treasure Trove!

It's almost Christmas and it seems all the studios are giving us early Christmas presents with trailers for their big 2010 offerings flooding online.

First up is the trailer for the Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz action comedy "Knight and Day," I was very vocally opposed to Cruise choosing this over "Motorcade" or "The 28th Ammendment" however as the production moved on it was plain to see that there would be plenty of action to go with the comedy and judging from this trailer it will deliver a fun summer experience in a similar vein to "True Lies."

The trailer showcases Cruise's great comedy timing as well as some big action, and Diaz is channeling some classic Goldie Hawn in her role it seems.  I think they are going to make an entertaing pairing and Mangold is a director capable of effortlessly combining the action and comedic elements.

Next we have cop comedy "Cop Out." Starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan, directed by Kevin Smith and dissapointingly looking like laughless junk with no action, Willis deserves better, he'll be heading into Nic Cage territory shortly with his choices.

Next we have "Frozen" which is a low budet, high concept indie thriller about 3 young people left on a ski lift that has shut down, trapped up there they must find a way to survive as no one will be returning to the mountain until after the weekend, this is intriguing high concept film making and the success of it will rest solely on the cast to make these characters watchable and empathetic to keep the audience with them right through the ordeal.

Last but not least we have "Repo Men" starring Jude Law and Forrest Whitaker, this one has been made ages and had extensive re-edits in order to make it releasable, what I see is a dark subversive piece of sci fi that may just have enough layers to make it stand out, beware that this is a red band trailer and contains profanity and violent images.

    "Inception" Poster

Coming Soon has the first poster for Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated "Inception," which you can see below.

Some have already pointed out the similarities to this Joker poster from the TDK campaign, but personally I love it, it gives the film an epic looking scale and moody vibe, I am also intrigued as to what the signifigance of the water is.

    "Robin Hood" Trailer

I was always dubious of this one given the amount of production woes and stalling, along with a complete 180 from the original pitch of "Nottingham." This first trailer does little to ease the concerns, yes there are some great shots in there and it looks epic, but nothing about it feels like Robin Hood, if anything it comes off like "Maximus goes Medieval."

Ridley Scott is one of my favourite directors and I think Russell Crowe is a great actor, so I'll be seeing this, I just hope the next trailer feels less like Gladiator II and more like a Robin Hood movie.

"Robin Hood" Opens on May 14th, 2010 and you can check the trailer out below.

    Two New Posters!

First up we have the poster for "Season of the Witch" via Shocktillyoudrop and it's a very basic poster that clearly feels the movies best selling point is Nic Cage's mug.

Next LatinoReview delivers the international poster for "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief". The poster looks like a Harry Potter poster which I imagine is not a coincidence.

Jennifer Aniston to "Pretend" to like Adam Sandler

You may be thinking this is a movie about a Hollywood executive that has to pretend to like Sandler because his movies make money...I kid I kid!....Closer to the truth is you may be thinking yours truly is posting this article purely to post a pic of the gorgeous Miss Aniston in order to glam up the TMT front page, but there is a story here and The Hollywood Reorter has the details:

Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston might be playing pretend.

Columbia is developing "Pretend Wife," a romantic comedy that would serve as a Sandler vehicle and is in the process of gathering the wedding party.

Aniston is in talks to star opposite Sandler, with Sandler mainstay Dennis Dugan the leading contender to direct the project, though no deals have been made as the studio is figuring out the seating arrangement.

    Happy Madison is producing.

The script, written by Allan Loeb and Tim Dowling and once known as "Holiday in Hawaii," is being kept under wraps. Columbia is planning a shoot early next year and eyeing a release on Feb. 11, 2011, the Friday before Valentine's Day.

I'm sure this will be another cookie cutter rom com from the two who rarely leave their comfort zones, but who knows it may be entertaining, at least the pic above is nice eh folks?

    "Brooklyn's Finest" Trailer

Antoine Fuqua burst onto the scene in 2001 with "Training Day" and whilst his subsequent films were both decent in my view, he has yet to reach the critical heights of that first explosive movie.

"Brooklyn's Finest" sees him back in the world of tough street cops, this time in New York as opposed to L.A, but the familiar grimy style is apparent, this is the kind of movie with a select audience, it's not gonna break any new ground but those that like TV shows such as "The Shield" and "The Wire" should get a kick out of what looks a solid entry into the genre.

On a personal note it's great to see Wesley Snipes out of the DTDVD market and in a proper movie again.

"Brooklyn's Finest" Gets a limited release from March 5th 2010 and you can see the trailer below.

    "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Trailer

Every now and again a trailer catches you off guard, this is one of those occasions, just over a year ago this Bruckheimer project was announced and some screamed "sacrilage!" and it was hard to see exactly how a live action version of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" could possibly work, throw in the fact Nic Cage was gonna star and Jon "National Treasure" Turteltaub was directing and the signs were not good.....not good at all.

Fast forward to this morning and the trailer debuts online, Cage is coming off the back of a well recieved performance in "Bad Litenuent" which won him back some indie cred, and lo and behold this looks like it could well win him back some blockbuster cred!

The trailer showcases what looks to be a kinetic, fun and visually sumptous take on the material, with Cage in a -slightly better than usual- toupee and acting amongst some very cool SFX. It's too early to say if this will deliver but the atmosphere the trailer gives off suggests this could well be a very good summer blockbuster (even if it feels better suited to this season), but time will tell if a miracle really has occured.

"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Opens July 16th 2010 and you can see the trailer below.

    Summit has an "Alibi"

Riding high on the success of "New Moon" Summit Entertainment are lining up their next project according to Variety, this time entering into the comic book adaption genre.

Summit Entertainment, fresh off the success of "New Moon," has come onboard a feature version of Top Cow's comicbook "Alibi," with Mandeville toppers David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman producing.

Comicbook, published last year, centers on a well-known socialite whose public presence establishes a perfect alibi for the covert activity of his secret twin brother, a government assassin. Mandeville snapped up rights to the project shortly after Comic-Con (Daily Variety, Aug. 4).

Summit's attached John Hlavin to pen the script. He was recently hired to write the fourth installment of "Underworld" for Screen Gems and is developing his Western screenplay "Gunslinger" at Warner Bros.

Hlavin's also writing "Boston P.D.," a cop procedural produced by Don Cheadle under his Crescendo banner, for NBC. He was previously was a writer and story editor on "The Shield."

I imagine this will be aiming for the mid budget, R-rated action movie market and I think the concept is a cool twist on the government assassin, as always though director and casting will shape whether this becomes just another cool concept wasted or mined to it's full potential, the lead role in particular I think will attract a decent level of actor.

    New "Iron Man 2" Stills

Coming Soon has gotten hold of new stills from the hugely anticipated sequel "Iron Man 2", directed by Jon Favreau, the sequel sees Robert Downey jr reprises his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man and the villains will be played by Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson and Same Rockwell.
