New "Clash of the Titans" Poster

Comingsoon.Net has gotten hold of this fantastic new poster for the eagerly anticipated "Clash of the Titans." Personally I think it does a great job of selling the movie as an epic swords and sandals fantasy film, just look at The Kraken!

At the link above you will also be able to check out some banners for the movie which opens on April 2nd.

Cruise back on a Mission but no JJ in the Director's chair

The announcement is flying all over the place but I will credit /Film as they are the site where I first heard it, Tom Cruise is coming back to Paramount to make "Mission Impossible 4," personally I am psyched!

Paramount Pictures has signed a deal with Tom Cruise to reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in M:I-IV. The bad news is that JJ Abrams is sitting this one out.

Finke is reporting that Ethan Hunt will be the main star of the film, debunking rumors that the character would only appear to pass the torch to a new spy. However, the new sequel is being looked at as a “reboot” to the series. The plan is for Cruise to make this his next film and start shooting by summer 2010 for a tentative Memorial Day 2011 weekend release.

Here is what we know so far: Tom and JJ developted”a really cool idea” for a fourth adventure, which Abrams turned into “an insanely long outline”. Abrams employed Alias‘ scribes Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec to write a screenplay based on the treatment, which Abrams once joked “is probably longer than the script.” Applebaum and Nemec were well into the second act of a first draft when we last checked in (mid-January 2010), and Abrams seemed very pumped on the project.

I am a huge fan of the franchise and it sounds like JJ and Cruise are really pleased with this big outline they came up with, it's a shame JJ wont be directing but it leaves the chair open for some interesting candidates.

Names like Ang Lee and David Fincher were both set to direct MI-3 at one point, and it's not impossible that this time they may actually helm, Fincher in particular has a strong relationship with Paramount.

Another possibility could be Len Wiseman who was set to direct Cruise in "Motorcade" but both eventually pulled out.

    Mickey and Megan!

/Film has got their hands on the first image from "Passion Play," the next film on the Mickey Rourke comeback trail or have we reached a point where the comeback is complete and it's just a Mickey Rourke film?

In this first still you will notice the shapely form of fanboy wet dream Megan Fox dancing with Rourke, apparently she is an angel (Yes she has wings) and he is a trumpet player that tries to save her from her gangster owner played by Bill Murray.

Rourke and Murray along with the odd take on the gangster period piece sounds enticing to me, and this may be a chance for Miss Fox to silence some of her detractors.

"Passion Play" has wrapped and will now look for a buyer, you can check out the image below.

    Robin Hood SuperBowl Spot

I really want to like this movie because I love the Robin Hood character and I'm a big fan of Crowe and Scott and their work together, however I am still not feeling it.

The spot gives us some dialog that sets up the heroes journey much like the Airbender spot, this is followed by some bow and arrow action and then a bunch of epic battle shots, that while looking faultlessly executed, feel like they come from an El Cid remake rather than a Robin Hood movie.

"Robin Hood" opens May 14th and you can check the spot out below.

    McG goes to War!

No not with WB over not letting Terminator Salvation have an R rating, according to The Hollywood Reporter he's going to war in more of a comedic sense, check the blurb out below.

McG, heading into action-comedy territory, is in negotiations to direct "This Means War" for Fox.
Bradley Cooper and Reese Witherspoon are attached to star in the tale of best friends who are also spies and fall in love with the same woman (Witherspoon). The men's bond disintegrates, and their ensuing battle escalates.

Overbrook and Robert Simonds are producing. Timothy Dowling ("Role Models") wrote the most recent draft.
The move seems to get the long-gestating project on track. The studio picked up the script in 1998, with the project seeing its share of producers, directors (including Gore Verbinski) and stars (Martin Lawrence) come and go.

I think there is a decent director lurking inside McG and I like his enthusiasm, picking this project up with a hotshot actor like Bradley cooper attached is not a bad move although the concept sounds like it could turn into slapstick stupidity, still there is talk of New York being destroyed as the two friends battle so I am guessing it has pretty large action sequences for a rom com which plays in McG's favour.

The Last Airbender Super Bowl Spot HD

I don't know anything about this anime adaption in truth, well at least beyond the basics, and I am also not a big fan of M. Knight, but damn if this trailer doesn't make me want to see the movie.

There's an "epic and wise" voice over guy giving you the basic heroes journey info but since this is a spot to be shown amid the hype for 'America's game' and people will be buzzing on fizzy pop and chips, the most important thing is it packs a visual punch.

The visuals on show here a very impressive and their is a scope and energy to the action sequences that shows M might just have a knack for this type of movie, which is a big leap from his usual stuff, don't just take my word for it, check it out below!

    "The Losers" Trailer

I've never read the books but the impression this entertaining trailer gives me is that of "What if Tarantino made The A Team!?" The action is over the top, the grimy feel of the trailer is a bit on the grindhouse/exploitation vibe side, and oh.....Zoe Saldana looks very nice.

It looks like your standard story of a betrayed team of special forces guys who get a shot at covert redemption through a government agent, that just happens to need their particular brand of skills and who is also hot so she can have a fling with the leader of the team.

Interesting side note, this movie is directed by the guy (Sylvain White) that did "Stomp the Yard"...Just goes to show, never judge a director by his cheesy teen dance movie!

It opens April 9th so it's aiming for that "Fast and the Furious" Pre-summer blockbuster money, and if the film lives up to the trailer it will get it.

Mel Gibson to reunite with Shane Black on "Cold Warrior"

Mel Gibson is about to blast back onto screens this week with "Edge of Darkness, a revenge thriller with political elements, it's a return to badass form for Gibson according to most reports and he is already lining up his next action outing, teaming up with "Lethal Weapon" scribe Shane Black, Variety has the details.

Mel Gibson is in talks to star in Universal Pictures' spy thriller "Cold Warrior."

Project reunites Gibson with "Lethal Weapon" scribe Shane Black, who is helming.

Based on a script by Chuck Mondry, pic centers on a spy from the Cold War era who comes out of retirement to team with a younger agent from the new school to confront a domestic terrorism threat orchestrated by Russia.

Pic will be produced by Michelle Manning ("The Eye"). David Greenblatt and Anthony Bagarozzi are also producing.Gibson has been absent from the bigscreen ever since his 2006 drunken-driving arrest, when he reportedly made anti-Semitic remarks. In the ensuing years, Hollywood's majors have been reluctant to cast the actor in a starring role, and Gibson has instead signed on to a number of independently financed projects, including "Edge of Darkness," which opens Friday. He recently completed production on Jodie Foster's "Beaver."

"Cold Warrior" marks the actor's return to toplining a studio-backed project.

Gibson will begin shooting in March the indie action drama "How I Spent My Summer Vacation," based on a screenplay he penned. He told Daily Variety that he is hoping to segue to "Cold Warrior" in June. Gibson also recently committed to direct Leonardo DiCaprio in a pic about Viking culture to be financed by GK Films. That pic has no start date.

I recall this one being announced quite a while back but I figured like many projects it had hit a wall, great to see it revived,  Gibson is an ideal choice for this role and hopefully they cast the young agent with Mel's age in mind, Gibson is looking very craggy these days so they don't need to cast someone who looks straight out of college, I'd go for Ryan Reynolds or Jake Gyllenhaal.

On the directing front I am glad to see Black back in the directors chair as I loved "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang" and despite the fact he will be working from someone else's script I am sure he will have given the dialgue a once over given the buddy buddy dynamics of the concept.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps - Teaser Trailer

When this belated sequel was announced I was firmly in the "Why bother?" camp, granted the current financial climate gives it a good backdrop but still, I wasn't feeling it.

Fast forward to today and the trailer drops, I find myself doing a 180, Gordon Gekko as a fish out of water when he is released from prison looks like great fun and as the trailer picks up pace it reveals what looks to be a slick thriller, although younger fans may be annoyed with the lack of Shia in the trailer, however my main concern is that Shia's character is not just a rehash of Charlie Sheen's.

Of course this could just be a case of a really well cut trailer, fusing Gekko's story with a thriller st in the intoxicating high powered, high living glamour world of Wall street is a potent mix, but for now I am won over.

"Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" Open on April 23rd and you can check the trailer out below.

    "Robin Hood" Poster

/Film has gotten their hands on the first poster for Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood." The poster is basically a still of the last shot of the domestic trailer with writing on it, not surprisingly mentioning it's connection to "Gladiator."
