    "Invictus" Trailer

Ahhhhh Clint is back on the OScar trail and this trailer is the first bit of bait for the golden baldy voters.

This looks like polished stuff as you'd expect with Clint but I am hoping the movie has a bit more bite to it than the trailer shows. Matt Damon once again demonstrates his versatility and this may be his ticket to a first acting Oscar, Morgan Freeman though, whilst good, does just seem like Morgan Freeman with no attempt at an accent, it will be interesting to see how his performance is recieved and indeed how much interest there is in an undoubtedbly important piece of history.

"Invictus" opens December 11th and you can check the trailer out below.

    "Spy Next Door" Trailer

I admit, I enjoyed the Rush Hour and Shanghai movies, but the rest of Jackie Chan's US ouput has been less successful and this rubbish looks to be a new low. It comes off like a bad version of "The Pacifier" only cheaper and more embarassing.

Fans of Hong Kong Jackie movies look away now and hug you Armor of God DVD tightly, for the braver souls the trailer can be seen below and the movie opens sometime in 2010.

    First Morgan as Mandela Poster

Yahoo have gotten hold of the first poster for the forthcoming Clint Eastwood directed Mandela movie titled "Invictus."

"Starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon the film takes place after the fall of apartheid in South Africa during his first term as president, when Mandela campaigned to host the 1995 Rugby World Cup event as an opportunity to unite his countrymen.

"Invictus" opens 12.11.09 and you can see the poster below.

"Season of the Witch" Teaser Trailer

This one is a bit of a surprise, it's only 30 seconds long and boasts a dreadful tagline, however it looks far more interesting than I expected it to, more of a horror film then originally thought.

"Season of the Witch" stars Nic Cage and Ron Perlman, and is the tale of a 14th Century crusader and his comrade in arms, who return home to find their homeland ravaged by the Black Plague, the church blame a witch (Claire Foy) and Cage/Perlman are tasked with taking her to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in the hope of ending the Plague. Needless to say all is not as it seems and the guilt of the witch will most likely come into question from Cage, although I don't expect this to be a drama about the state of the 14th Century justice system.

"Season of the Witch" opens on March 19th and you can check the trailer out below.

    New Poster For "The Road"

Comingsoon.Net has a new psoter for the much delyaed "The Road," the film stars Viggo Mortensen and is directed by John Hillcot (The Proposition).

"The Road" has been delayed almost a year at this point and was considered as an Oscar contender last year before the massive and ever increasing delay. An adaption of the Cormac Mcarthy novel, the film has recived mixed responses from the screenings it had at various festivals, from what I've read it certainly seems to be a love it or hate it film.

The new poster below is tonally awkward, it looks like a poster for a direct to DVD action film rather than one for a bleak apocalyptic survival film, and it certainly does not mesh with the footage shown in the trailers.

Ridley Scott to direct "Red Riding"

Ridley Scott has an ever growing "To do" list with projects such as "The Kind One," "Child 44," "Monopoly" and the (Cautiously) anticipated Alien Prequel, now news arrives that he has just added anbother according to Variety.

Columbia Pictures has acquired rights to remake the U.K. miniseries "Red Riding," and is negotiating with Steve Zaillian to write the script and Ridley Scott to direct.

The project, based on four David Peace novels, will be distributed in the U.S. this fall by IFC. Studio bought rights to the mini and the novel series.

Scott will produce through his Scott Free banner, along with Zaillian, through his Film Rites banner, and Andrew Eaton of Revolutionary Films, which produced the mini. Garrett Basch of Film Rites will be executive producer.

The miniseries is a study of power and police corruption framed around the investigation of the disappearance of several young girls. For the pic, the setting will be transferred from Britain to the U.S. The mini clocked in at more than five hours, so Zaillian and Scott have their work cut out for them to compress it into one film.

Zaillian last worked for Columbia on a rewrite of the Michael Lewis book "Moneyball" to star Brad Pitt that the studio was ready to put into production until Steven Soderbergh did his own rewrite that prompted the studio to halt the film days before it was skedded to begin production.

Scott and Zaillian previously collaborated on the films "American Gangster" and "Hannibal." Zaillian at present is adapting Par's drama "I Hear You Paint Houses" for Martin Scorsese.

Not sure if this is a good idea or not, the British mini series (Check NSFW trailer below) was highly rated and there seems a lot of material to cram into a movie, however Scott is adept enough to make it work, although I do think he has several projects more interesting than this on his slate.

    Angelina Jolie to boost Tourism!

This is becoming a trend, Angelina Jolie taking on former Tom Cruise projects, first it was "Salt" where she replaced him in the lead role, and now she is lining up to replace Charlize Theron who was gonna play opposite Cruise in the film "The Tourist," accordsing to Risky Biz Blog

Charlize Theron has opted out of the Spyglass-produced thriller "The Tourist," to which she has long been attached, and in talks to replace her is one Angelina Jolie, sources say.

The tomb-raiding one, fresh off an action-heavy part in "Salt," would take on the one-part seductress, one-part action role of the title.

The project is now also seeking a director, as Bharat Nalluri, the "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day" helmer who had been attached to direct, is as of last week off the project, with producers now seeking a new helmer to pair with Jolie. Neither Spyglass nor the director or actresses' reps could immediately be reached for comment.

Production has at least until this point been tentatively set for early 2010, which could prompt producers to act quickly on a director.

A remake of the French thriller "Anthony Zimmer" from 2005, "Tourist" centers on an American tourist who, on behalf of Interpol, goes undercover to entrap a former lover who's a suspected global criminal. It follows in the long tradition of innocents caught up in shady activities abroad that dates back to Hitchcock ("The Man Who Knew Too Much"), Polanski ("Frantic") and beyond, and a theme that also has contemporary echoes with "Taken" this past year.

It's not the first time there's been movement on "Tourist." Tom Cruise had been loosely attached at an earlier point for the lead male role, but Sam Worthington will now play the part as he rides his
"Terminator: Salvation" and "Avatar" hot streak.

There are few A-list females who producers like for lead action roles, and with Jolie not attached to star in any imminent projects post-"Salt," "Tourist" is seen as a perfect itinerary for her.

Personaly I liked the look of the French original but I've never been able to find a copy with English subtitles, from the trailers I've seen Jolie is a pretty straight forward replacement for Theron but Worthington is gonna need to show some range to play the somewhat dorky every man that is the lead male role.

Toy Story 3 Poster and Trailer!

Comingsoon.Net has the exclusive new poster for Toy Story 3 which opens on June 18th 2010 in Disney Digital 3-D and regular cinemas. You can check the poster out below.

More important than any amount of posters in the world (and what we've been anticipating ever since Disney/Pixar first announced it was coming) is the first full-fledged theatrical traler. MySpace has got it for us to watch...and re-watch...and re-watch again. Yeah, it's that good and I can't wait to see the actual film. Weird to think it's been eleven years since the second one. Too damn long if you ask me.

Ryan Reynolds to star in "Motorcade?"

This is a project I've been interested in since it was first announced as it reminds me of the high-octane, high-concept action/thrillers of the 90's, and at one point it was a candidate for Tom Cruise's next blockbuster vehicle befrore he chose "Wichita." Len Wiseman was also set to direct but according to Variety it is all change on this Dreamworks project.

DreamWorks is revving up again on "Motorcade," setting as director Jon Cassar, best known as co-executive producer and a prolific helmer of the Fox TV drama "24."

The studio hopes to get the picture into production by late summer or early fall 2010, and DreamWorks is eyeing Ryan Reynolds to play the disgraced Secret Service agent who happens to be in the wrong place at the right time when the U.S. president is kidnapped in New York.

Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing.

Billy Ray continues to work on a script that was originated by Hans Bauer and Craig Mitchell.

The drama has been a priority for DreamWorks and was one of the projects Tom Cruise seriously considered when "Live Free or Die Hard" helmer Len Wiseman was attached.

Reynolds, who will next star in the Martin Campbell-directed "Green Lantern" for Warner Bros. next spring, has not signed on at this point.

Though Cassar will be making his first big studio feature after a TV directing career, he's a strong match for the material. He directed 59 episodes of "24" and the spinoff telepic "24: Redemption" but left the show to pursue a feature career.

I like Reynolds and I love 24 so I am fine with these changes,  I just question whether it will now go from a proposed summer tentpole action film to a Spring or Fall action film with a much smaller budget.

    Trailer Trifecta

It's Friday and new trailers have came online, I know that is what everyone wants for their Friday entertainment!

First up is the trailer for the remake of George Romero's "The Crazies" which surprisngly looks pretty decent.

Next we have the absolutely dreadful looking "The Tooth Fairy" that sees Dwayne Johnson sink further away from his "New Arnie" tag and Ashley Judd slumming it.

And last but best is the full theatrical trailer for "Up In The Air" which looks fantastic, and wored is Clooney gives a golden statue caliber performance.
