Rambo V:Savage Hunt - Plot Details

My TMT colleague Pete may not want anymore Rambo but personally I can't wait to see Sly don the bandanna once more to portray his second most iconic creation.

Earlier this week supposed plot details leaked that would see Rambo taking on drug lords and slave traders, which all sounded a bit like "Taken" to me, however AICN has posted the real plot details after Harry Knowles got them from the man himself.

Hey folks, Harry here... I'm fascinated by the conversation I had spontaneously just had with Sylvester Stallone. Apparently there are a lot of rumors out there about the next RAMBO, some of which have been floated by the Trades - but the reality is quite a bit different. It does involve Rambo back in the United States. But from what Sly told me, it is structured quite a bit different.

You see, it is set in the Pacific Northwest. Back in the general area where we first were introduced to John. It seems that somewhere in that Area there is a U.S. Military installation that is doing experiments on elite soldiers as part of some sort of program where they're attempting to tap into that SAVAGERY that we have deeply embedded into us. The plan is create brilliantly instinctual killer soldiers that have no qualms about taking life. Sly brought up the ancient Immortals, which were cartoonishly glimpsed in 300. In reality, they were children trained from the time they were infants to kill.

Well as happens with Government Experiments to create the perfect killer - it goes exceptionally well... and then exceptionally badly. And Rambo is brought in with a Black Ops squad ("Like in PREDATOR") to hunt, capture or kill this worse than Rambo killer.

I am really digging the sound of this, it's VERY 80's but that is part of the charm, I like the fact it has the chance to be more stealthy and structured like First Blood as opposed to the all out gun blazing war of Rambo. Not keen on him having a team again but hopefully they'll get killed quickly leaving the battle scarred old analog warrior taking on the digital age super killers so to speak.....or should that be 3D killers now?

New "Where the Wild Things Are" Poster

I didn't grow up on this book, in fact I'd never heard of it until the movie adaption was announced, however it is apparently a literary classic and so far the feedback I've seen from those that love the book, seems to indicate that Spike Jonze has hit all the right notes with his adaption.

Comingsoon.Net has the brand new one sheet for the film that you can check out below. The movie opens October 16th in regular and IMAX theaters.

Captain Toupee is the Bad Lieutentant!

Coming Soon has grabbed an exclusive of this extremely bland poster for the forthcoming Nic "Toupee" Cage thriller "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans."

I've given up trying to figure out what motivates Cage these days as his filmography is one of the greatest mixes of the sublime and atrocious I've ever seen. He's back here with "Ghost Rider" co-star Eva Mendes in a film that is not a remake of the Harvey Keitel flick.....for some reason Werner Herzog has decided to helm the thing. you can check the poster out below.

In Werner Herzog's new film "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans," Nicolas Cage plays a rogue detective who is as devoted to his job as he is at scoring drugs -- while playing fast and loose with the law. He wields his badge as often as he wields his gun in order to get his way. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina he becomes a high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive, fearless detective reigning over the beautiful ruins of New Orleans with authority and abandon. Complicating his tumultuous life is the prostitute he loves (played by Eva Mendes). Together they descend into their own world marked by desire, compulsion, and conscience. The result is a singular masterpiece of filmmaking: equally sad and manically humorous.

Defendor Trailer Crashes Online!

Until roughly thirty minutes ago I had never heard of this little curio starring Woody Harrelson and Kat Dennings. The initial image I saw for the movie made me instantly think this was a Ben Stiller style spoof romp of the Superhero genre, with Woody essentially looking like Mr Incredible come to life.

However I urge you to check the trailer out because beyond the obvious laughs there seems to be a heart beating and the promise that this is not just a comedy but also a nice little drama as well, exploring the clearly broken psyche of a decent guy.

No word on a release date yet but Defendor is playing as part of the official selection for the Toronto International Film Festival, and you can check the trailer out below.

Spielberg To Adapt Crichton's last novel "Pirate Latitudes"

I'm a big fan of Spielberg but to be honest neither Tin Tin or Harvey interest me very much, so it was with great enthusiasm I read about this proposed pirate movie that the mighty beard may be making.

USA Today Reports:

The men who brought dinosaurs back to life in Jurassic Park are teaming up again, though it's a bittersweet reunion since one of them is no longer here.

Steven Spielberg is developing a film out of a posthumously published novel by the late Michael Crichton—Pirate Latitudes, an adventure story set off the coast of Jamaica in 1665.

Screenwriter David Koepp, who adapted Crichton's novels for Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World, also has signed on to create the script. Spielberg plans to produce and is considering directing.

DreamWorks Studios describes the novel, set for release Nov. 24, as the story of "a daring plan to infiltrate Port Royal, one of the world's richest and most notorious cities, and raid a Spanish galleon filled with treasure."

"It's a mission movie, and we see it through the prism of what it might have been like to live on the island during that time," says Stacey Snider, Spielberg's partner in DreamWorks and the company's co-chair and CEO.

A Spielberg pirate movie and an adaption of the last book of the late great Michael Crichton? ? Double win in my view. The idea that this will be a swashbuckling adventure but also something of a Pirate "Heist" movie really appeals to me. I'll be picking the book up for sure and here's hoping the wheels of production move quickly on this and roll right over Harvey.

"Whip It" Poster and Stills

/Film has gotten hold of the new poster and 3 stills from upcoming Ellen Page starrer "Whip It!" The film marks the directorial debut of Drew Barrymore who also co-stars.

I personally really like the poster, it's colourful Ellen-centricness is a good sell for what looks like an upbeat fun movie with a dollop of heart provided by another star turn from Miss Page.

"Whip It" opens October 2nd and you can check out the poster and stills below.

The Teaser for "Inception" Teases!

Christopher Nolan is probably one of the most powerful men in Hollywood right now after his massively successful relaunching of the Batman franchise, which culminated last summer with the record breaking "The Dark Knight."

Evidence of this is in his all star cast for new sci fi action thriller "Inception," which boasts the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Ellen Page and Marian Collitard....essentially the cream of the crop of exciting young-ish acting talent.

This first teaser is a doozy, doing exactly what a teaser should, it emits a sci fi noir feeling for me and features a dazzling shot of a fight sequence in a hotel hallway. The tagline of "Your Mind is the Scene of the Crime" is a cracker as well.

"Inception" hits your mind and screens on July 16, 2010 and you can check the teaser out below.

Meet Jacob from "New Moon"

Ok this is not TMT starting up a celebrity dating service, sorry ladies, but one of us on the team had to cover a movie that is gonna be big (whether anyone likes it or not) so I decided to take the hit.

This second trailer is actually not really a trailer as such, it's a quasi featurette on the character Jacob with the actor who plays him telling us all how awesome "New Moon" will be and dropping in some details of the emofest romance that will permeate most of the movie. On a side note I have heard that there is a cool part of the book set in Rome and there are some shots from that portion of the film near the end of this trailerette, that you good folks can check out below.
