    SAW VI Poster!

I have to confess that I've never seen any of the Saw films despite them being churned out at the same rate as those spoof "comedies."

The genre as whole is not my thing and even less so this new brand of horror dubbed "torture porn," at any rate Shocktillyoudrop has gotten hold of the new, intriguingly grizzly "Saw VI" poster that you can check out below.

    "When in Rome" Trailer

Well this is a disappointing one, I mean granted it is directed by Mark Steven Johnson (MSJ) who's last outing was the lamentable "Ghost Rider" but I'd hoped with the charismatic presence of Kristen Bell and the likability of Josh Duhamel this rom com may be a shot at redemption.....no such luck from what this trailer shows.

The trailer is just totally hollow, there is no spark, nothing approaching funny and not a hint of anything romantic, heck it even runs a minute longer than most trailers so they can shill you the soundtrack at the end, plus MSJ even manages to shoehorn in more of his trademark atrocious CGI. I like both the leads and they deserve better than this

"When In Rome" opens January 29, 2010 and you can check the trailer out below.

DeLorean biopic driving towards the big screen!

It was the dream car of many of us 80's kids, ok that was partly because the version of it we fell in love with could travel through time, but never the less the DeLorean posters adorned many a bedroom wall and now it's getting it's own biopic, well the guy who invented it is but that's splitting hairs.

Alex Holmes has been tapped to steer a biopic of car designer John DeLorean that Time Inc. Studios and XYZ Films will produce.

Holmes, who most recently wrote and directed the HBO and BBC miniseries "House of Saddam," developed the DeLorean script with co-writer Rob Warr. They had previously collaborated on the BBC TV series "Dunkirk."

The DeLorean film will tell the story of how the auto industry maverick's glamorous life came crashing down when he was caught in an FBI drug trafficking sting, only to be acquitted on grounds of entrapment.

Holmes envisions the pic as a crime thriller with a tragic hero at its heart.

"As a kid, John DeLorean seemed an almost mythic figure to me. His dreams brought him head to head with both the British and American establishment, and they destroyed him," Holmes said.

The producers behind the pic are working closely with DeLorean's son Zachary DeLorean, the executor of the DeLorean estate. Film is also based on the carmaker's unpublished memoirs, articles from Fortune and Time, as well as Hillel Levin's book "Grand Delusions."

Time Inc. Studios prexy Paul Speaker; XYZ partners Nate Bolotin, Nick Spicer and Aram Tertzakian; and Tamir Ardon, who is also producing a docu on DeLorean, will produce the pic. Time Inc. Studios is the video and film production arm of Time Inc.

The project is racing to get to the bigscreen before other DeLorean pics, including one from Brett Ratner that James Toback is scripting and Robert Evans is producing, and another from David Permut based on life rights from DeLorean's longtime attorney, Mayer Morganroth.

"There are other producers out there trying to make a movie about my father," said Zachary DeLorean, "but this is the only one I'm standing behind, and the only one the DeLorean estate is allowing."

All joking aside this could be pretty interesting and entertaining stuff, it will certainly be interesting to see how much of the film is dedicated to the famous car and it's big screen life as part of one of the 80's biggest franchises.

"Criminal Macabre" set up at Universal

Variety reports that another of Dark Horse's properties has been picked up by a studio, this time Universal:

Universal Pictures has acquired "Criminal Macabre," the Dark Horse Entertainment comicbook miniseries created by Steve Niles. Kyle Ward has been set to write the script.

Story centers around a supernatural detective who doubles as hitman, taking out all the vampires, ghosts and other unsavory monsters who live among humans, hiding in the shadows by day and emerging at night.

The description doesn't really highlight anything that sets this apart from similar stories in the genre, but if executed well it could still be an entertaining slice of action horror.

Dorian needs some of Oil of Olay in new poster

Another retelling of the tale of the classic literary character is on it's way starring Ben Barnes (Prince Caspian) and EMPIRE have nabbed the poster for it. Now given the artistic oppertunities the tale of Dorian Gray affords I think this is a fairly bland and uninspired poster that comes off more like an ad for skin care than anything.

This trailer does not abide by the Law!

Whatever you do, do not turn this trailer off after 30 seconds! "Law Abiding Citizen" is a film that has went through some changes on it's way to the big screen and my expectations were lowered when Frank Darabont left the directing chair to be replaced by F. Gary Gray, director of solid thriller "The Negotiator" and the remake of "The Italian Job"

However this trailer has really caught me off guard, the actual premise was always a little muddled as it was never made clear exactly what angle the story would take, but all I can say is that it looks like they took the right one! There are so many elements to this that it would be hard to sum them up so take a look for yourselves, surfice to say it is a film that should have the audience questioning who's side they are on and where the line lies when it comes to justice, all that wrapped up in a high concept action thriller.

For Foxx this is just another movie, he is an established star with a degree of crediblity, however for Butler, who shot to fame in a leather skirt with the hyper stylized "300" this is a chance to cement some leading man status after a number of dull up rom coms.

"Law Abiding Citizen" Opens October 9th and you can check the trailer out below.

'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus' Trailer

The last work of the late Heath Ledger was not, as some assume, his electrifying role as The Joker in last year's smash hit "The Dark Knight."

It was, in fact, in the Terry Gilliam film "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus." Unfortunately, Heath did not finish the movie, but due to the fantastical nature of the story and a certain plot point involving a magical mirror, Gilliam was able to finish it using three other actors (Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law).

This first trailer really took me by surprise. I wasn't sure what to expect, but what we've got looks to be a visually-stunning piece of fantasy, full of imagination and dark mystery.

I get the same sort of magical vibe from this as I did when I first saw the trailer for "Pan's Labyrinth." That was one of the freshest pieces of fantasy to come along in some time, and with any luck, "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" will deliver the same level of quality.

"The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" opens Oct. 16 and you can check the trailer out below:

    New "Whiteout" Poster

Comingsoon.Net via Myspace has the new poster for Kate Beckinsale starrer "Whiteout." The film is one I am looking forward to as I enjoyed the books a lot, however this poster, while a nice piece of art, does not really represent the movie all that well as it seems more like a fanasty/horror poster.

    Jennifer Aniston goes to Prison!

I like Jennifer Aniston, sure she has a rather dull filmography with waaaay too many "safe" rom coms on it, but she is always a likeable presence whatever she is in and can lift her game on occasion when the material requires it, which could well be the case with her new project as revealed by Variety.

"Grey Gardens" helmer Michael Sucsy will make his feature directorial debut on "Goree Girls," with Jennifer Aniston headlining the true story of an all-female country band in a Texas prison in the 1940s.

The project will begin production in January, financed by Overnight Prods. Overnight's Rick Schwartz and Aaron Kaufman have joined Aniston and her Echo Films partner Kristin Hahn as producers.

Now I am sure the saucier among you had naughty thoughts of Jennifer Aniston in a women's prison movie and no doubt the still sexy as ever 40 year old could deliver on that, but all jokes aside this is easily the most interesting project she has been attached to in some time and I look forward to seeing how it develops.
