Superherhype has gotten hold of a couple of new images from the Chicago set of the Michael Bay megabuster in the making. They feature the Transformers staples of mass destruction and Shia running from danger with a hot girl in tow.
I loved the first Tranformers movie but was not impressed with the sequel, hopefully the 3rd and possibly final film turns the volume down a bit and rediscovers the charm of the 1st film that was sadly missing in the 2nd.
/Film has gotten hold of these fantastic pics from forthcoming vampire actioner Priest, starring Paul Bettany. I actually don't know anything about this film but from the sounds of it, it's basically the Searchers with Vampires, however the imagery is stunning and will no doubt evoke Road Warrior thoughts from many, check out the synopsis and pics below!
Synopsis:
Priest is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. Paul Bettany is Priest, a legendary warrior priest during the last Vampire War, who now lives in obscurity among the other human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities controlled by the Church. But when his 18-year-old niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires in the desolate wastelands outside, Priest breaks his sacred vows and ventures out to find her and seek vengeance upon those responsible, especially their brutal leader (Karl Urban). Priest is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, Hicks (Cam Gigandet), a local outpost sheriff, and Priestess (Maggie Q), a member of his former legion of vampire-killers who has otherworldly fighting skills.
I like Ben Affleck, I even liked him when he was driving around in tacky gold Bentley's with Jlo and making muddled Daredevil adaptions, however he came into his own with his directorial debut "Gone Baby Gone."
Now he is back with his follow up, another crime thriller novel adaption called "The Town," the movie finds Affleck back in the same territory of the Boston underbelly and the trailer present's itself in a way that shows it's clearly a relation to "Gone Baby Gone," if not actually then spiritually.
Affleck takes the leading role this time around with very strong support from Rebecca Hall, Chris Cooper and Hurt Locker standout Jeremy Renner, as well as Green Lantern's lady Blake Lively, although I don't think she is going for wholesome with this character.
The trailer lets you know the film's bloodline is linked to "Gone Baby Gone" and Oscar Winner "The Departed" but there is a freshness and energy that is exhilerating, Affleck looks on form as the tough Boston native who falls for the woman who's bank his crew rob, and clearly there will be a number of powerfully charged relationships to juggle within the central crime story, plus Ben has turned his hand to action and appears to be a natural at it.
"The Town" Opens on September 17th and you can check out the trailer below.
Earlier today the first image of Green Lantern from the cover of 'Entertainment Weekly' was unveiled, and now iFanboy have gotten hold of 6 more, I've posted the 3 stand out images below and you can check out the rest at the link.
Lets face it, if you're reading this chances are you are a big film fan and would jump at the chance to be involved in making one, well here we have proof that it can happen as independent Writer/Producer Sean Gates and Director/Producer Clayton Spinney deliver the first teaser for their production of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Here's a little piece from Sean giving a bit of insight into what they are going for!
The teaser is essentially a self-contained short film we call "There's A Storm Coming," not culled from actual scenes from the movie, but certainly meant to be representative of the look, feel, and sound of the film. We know that a lot of people are unfamiliar with the book and for most people Oz is simply the '39 MGM film. So the question we're constantly wrestling with his how to market this film to a world that still loves to hear Judy Garland sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". I unfortunately don't have an answer to that. I too am one of those people. But you have two guarantees with this film: the first is that it will have things in it that you've never seen before. The second is, nobody breaks into song.
We have a couple of behind-the-scenes videos posted at our website and there will be more as we go forward. There's also desktop images, concept art, and plenty of photos, so if you're interested in seeing more, come visit us there.
JJ Abrams really can't put a foot wrong these days, from his successful TV shows Alias and the mighty LOST, to his mega hit rebooting of Star Trek all the way to his forthcoming collaboration with Spielberg, Super 8.
Now the trailer for Morning glory has arrived, an Abrams produced comedy drama starring Rachel McAdams as a TV news producer trying to salvage a morning show while dealing with it's two feuding hosts played by Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton.
What we have here is one sparky looking comedy that like the best of the genre seems to have a heart. McAdams is a class act and this role is a great chance for her to show her comedic chops again, something that she hasn't really done since Mean Girls, but it is Harrison Ford as the sarcastic, cantankerous old news anchor that looks to steal the show.
Morning Glory opens November 12th 2010 and you can watch the trailer below.
NBC has released trailers for their upcoming fall shows, I have posted 3 below and you can see more NBC.com.
With 24 coming to a close TV is going to need a new drama that mixes action, politics and conspiracies and The Event looks just the ticket to me.
NBC blurb:
"The Event" is an emotional, high-octane conspiracy thriller that follows Sean Walker (Jason Ritter, "The Class"), an Everyman who investigates the mysterious disappearance of his fiancee, Leila (Sarah Roemer, "Disturbia"), and unwittingly begins to expose the biggest cover-up in U.S. history. Sean's quest will send ripples through the lives of an eclectic band of strangers, including: newly elected U.S. President Martinez (Golden Globe nominee Blair Underwood, "Dirty Sexy Money"); Sophia (Emmy Award nominee Laura Innes, "ER"), who is the leader of a mysterious group of detainees; and Sean's shadowy father-in-law (Scott Patterson, "Gilmore Girls"). Their futures are on a collision course in a global conspiracy that could ultimately change the fate of mankind. Ian Anthony Dale ("Daybreak") and Emmy winner Zeljko Ivanek ("Damages") also star in the ensemble drama.
Next up is Jerry Bruckheimer's new ensemble drama Chase, set in the world of fugitive hunting US Marshal's, it looks like another slick procedural in the CSI mould but more hands on action and less lab work, Kelli Giddish looks to be excellent in the lead role of U.S. Marshal Annie Frost.
NBC blurb:
"Chase" is a fast-paced drama from Emmy Award-winning executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer ("CSI" franchise, "The Amazing Race," "Pirates of the Caribbean" films) and executive producer Jennifer Johnson ("Cold Case") that drops viewers smack into the middle of a game of cat-and-mouse as a team of U.S. marshals hunts down America's most dangerous fugitives. Kelli Giddish ("Past Life") stars as U.S. Marshal Annie Frost, a cowboy boot-wearing deputy whose sharp mind and unique Texas upbringing help her track down the violent criminals on the run. Cole Hauser ("K-Ville"), Amaury Nolasco ("Prison Break"), Rose Rollins ("The L Word") and Jesse Metcalfe ("Desperate Housewives") also star as members of Frost's elite team.
Last but not least we have JJ Abrams Undercovers which is probably the most hotly anticipated of the season, personally I am not sold from the trailer, I love JJ's stuff as a rule but the two leads here lack a bit charisma and it's heavier on the gags than I was expecting.
NBC blurb:
'UNDERCOVERS' - Acclaimed writer/producer/director J.J. Abrams ("Star Trek," "Fringe," "Lost," "Alias") serves as co-writer, executive producer - and also directs - his first direction of a TV series pilot since "Lost" in "Undercovers" with executive producer/writer Josh Reims ("Brothers and Sisters"). "Undercovers" is a sexy, fun, action-packed spy drama that proves once and for all that marriage is still the world's most dangerous partnership. Outwardly, Steven Bloom (Boris Kodjoe, "Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion," "Soul Food," "Resident Evil: Afterlife") and his wife, Samantha (Gugu Mbatha-Raw, "Doctor Who," "Bonekickers"), are a typical married couple who own a small catering company in Los Angeles and are helped by Samantha's easily frazzled younger sister, Lizzy (Jessica Parker Kennedy, "Smallville"). Secretly, the duo were two of the CIA's best spies until they fell in love on the job five years ago and retired. When fellow spy and friend Nash (Carter MacIntyre, "American Heiress") goes missing while on the trail of a Russian arms dealer, the Blooms are reinstated by boss Carlton Shaw (Gerald McRaney, "Deadwood") to locate and rescue Nash. The pair is thrust back into the world of espionage as they follow leads that span the globe -- and Steven and Samantha realize that this supercharged, undercover lifestyle provides the excitement and romance that their marriage has been missing. Also starring is Ben Schwartz (NBC's "Parks and Recreation").
I like Jessica Biel, not just because she is an attractive Lady but she seems pretty nice and also is taking her career on a mixed path, eschweing the route of never ending rom coms. Now she has signed on for a new thriller according to ScreenDaily.
French director Pascal Laugier will make his English-language debut with the project.
Jessica Biel will star in The Tall Man, a film to be financed by France’s SND. French director Pascal Laugier will make his English-language debut with the project.
The film is the second English-language project from SND which will also release in France and handle international sales. Budget is $15m with shooting to start in Vancouver in September.
Tall Man is a suspenseful thriller in the vein of the early films of M. Night Shyamalan, SND’s Lionel Uzan tells Screen. Biel plays a woman who must grapple with and track the mysterious figure of The Tall Man who has kidnapped her child.
Laugier, who also wrote the film, says “I like to think of The Tall Man as a sort of Panic Room… outside! It is a ‘woman in jeopardy’ movie with a lot of twists and a strong female character that you feel very connected to.” Tall Man is produced by Clement Miserez, (Radar Films) and Steven Schneider (Room 101 Inc.). Jean-Charles Levy and Bonnie Timmermann will also serve as executive producers.
This sounds like another good choice, after taking the big summer action film the A Team, a small thriller that will give her the chance to play a strong everywoman in a role that I imagine will see her onscreen most of the time, is just the ticket to keep the variation going.
Comingsoon.Net has gotten hold of a new Australian poster for forthcoming Angelina Jolie spy flick Salt.
Word is not good on this one and it seems Tom Cruise was wise to choose Knight and Day instead, Columbia were hoping for a franchise but unless this defies early word then it's unlikely they'll get their wish.
David Fincher, master of the dark thriller is headed into uncharted waters as he has signed on to replace McG at the helm of Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea remake according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Months after deep-sixing a McG-helmed version of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," Disney is in negotiations with David Fincher to direct, and hot "Bourne Ultimatum" scribe Scott Z. Burns to write, a new take on the classic Jules Verne story.
The project came together after Fincher approached Disney's new production head Sean Bailey a few weeks into his job this winter. The Oscar-nominated helmer wanted to tackle a four-quadrant tentpole movie, somewhat of a departure from the dark, R-rated dramas such as "Fight Club" and "Zodiac" (or even "Curious Case of Benjamin Button") that he's done in the past.
The project was being developed under the radar as Bailey settled into his position under new studio topper Rich Ross, then gained steam in the past few days with Fincher and Burns entering talks for deals.
First published in 1869, the classic science fiction novel is in the public domain. But ever since Disney's Kirk Douglas-starring version was released in 1954, the studio and the Verne story -- about a group of men who encounter a vengeful scientific genius and his warlike submarine -- have been linked in the public's mind.
Last year, Disney was fast-tracking a $150 million "Leagues" that would have served as an origin story for Nemo. But the project was the first of several to be sunk by Ross when he took over the studio from Dick Cook in the fall (ironically, given Fincher's involvement, the dark tone of the McG version was a concern for the new regime).
It's not surprising that Disney would revisit "Leagues." Ross has said his mandate is to make wide-appeal, pre-branded entertainment. And while plotlines are being kept submerged, the Fincher/Burns take on the material is described as being in the vein of "Star Wars" or "The Empire Strikes Back." It will aim to be visually dazzling.
Burns, who penned Steven Soderbergh's latest "Contagion" as well as "The Informant!,"will begin writing immediately. That should give Fincher, who is in post on "The Social Network" for Sony, time to direct another movie (possibly "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," also for Sony, but his name has surfaced in connection with a host of projects) before jumping into "Leagues."
I admit I have always been in favour of this remake, I think there is much modern effects can add to the films concepts, not least The Nautilus, now Fincher is directing I am even more intrigued as to how this will turn out, Brad Pitt as Ned Land?
