    Carl Rinsch Directing 'Logans Run'

Carl Rinsch is in talks to direct Warner Bros long-in-development sci-fi film Logans Run being produced by Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman.

Rinsch who is well know in the world of commercials has been looking to make the jump into features for quite some time. He was set to make his debut with the “Alien” prequel before producer Ridley Scott decided to take over himself.

Interest in Rinsch was hugely spiked in April when “The Gift,” the short he made for electronics company Phillips, hit the internet and made its rounds around hollywood.

The sci-fi oriented “Gift” blended realistic robots, a Moscow setting, and a city chase, not to mention caught the attention of many execs, who were looking to adapt it into a feature. Due to the fact that Philips owns the rights to the short it was never put into development, but the short was still able to create other job opportunities for Rinsch.

Logan's Run was already adapted once in the 1976 film starring Michael York, Jenny Agutter and Farrah Fawcett, it was based on a 1967 novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson. Theres been numerous attempts to re-adapt the property in recent years, including a version that began preproduction with Bryan Singer at the helm.

The plot is set in a utopian future where no one is allowed to live past 30. The lead character, Logan is a "sandman", the "sandmen" are a special group of operatives that stops people known as "runners" from trying to escape when approaching their 30th birthday. Logan is a Sandman who is forced to go on the run.

Even with Warner hiring their director, it's not likely we'll be seeing this hit the big screen anytime soon. They'll still need to hire a writer to pen the new script, and get a cast in place as well.

    Megan Fox' Transformers replacement is...

GeekWeek broke the scoop last Friday, and Deadline seems to be confirming that Victoria's Secret model 23-year-old Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is the frontrunner to replace the departing Megan Fox in Michael Bay's Transformers 3.

Although Rosie has relatively no acting experience that doesn't mean she won't be able to do as good a job or better then Fox did, being as she was never really hired for her acting ability to begin with.

Later in the day, their story was amended to say that Huntington-Whitely, who has absolutely no acting experience except for what she does on the runway during Victoria's Secret Fashion Shows, has gotten the role as long as things don't fall apart in negotiations.

Transformers 3 began production on May 17, shooting in Los Angeles, gearing up for a release on July 1, 2011.

    New Trailer 'The Last Exorcism'

Lionsgate has released the trailer for the upcoming horror film "The Last Exorcism" starring Patrick Fabian, Ashley Bell, Louis Herthum, Caleb Landry Jones, Tony Bentley and Iris Bahr.

When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine “exorcism” on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy.

Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus’ own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.

I have to say I'm not as blown away by this as I though I'd be from the synopsis. This doesn't look anywhere near on the level of The Exorcism of Emily Rose or The Exorcist for that matter, but they could still prove me wrong, and I hope they do. I generally like this kind of film, but I'm having trouble getting into this one after seeing the first trailer.

New Trailer Zac Efron's 'Charlie St. Cloud'

Based on an acclaimed novel, Charlie St. Cloud is a romantic drama starring Zac Efron as a young man who survives an accident that lets him see the world in a unique way. In this emotionally charged story, he begins a romantic journey in which he embraces the dark realities of the past while discovering the transformative power of love.

Accomplished sailor Charlie St. Cloud (Efron) has the adoration of mother Claire (Oscar winner Kim Basinger) and little brother Sam (newcomer Charlie Tahan), as well as a college scholarship that will lead him far from his sleepy Pacific Northwest hometown. But his bright future is cut short when a tragedy strikes and takes his dreams with it.

After his high-school classmate Tess (Amanda Crew) returns home unexpectedly, Charlie grows torn between honoring a promise he made four years earlier and moving forward with newfound love. And as he finds the courage to let go of the past for good, Charlie discovers the soul most worth saving is his own.

I can't say that I've ever been a huge fan of Zac Efron. I mean I haven't seen the highschool musical movies, but I did catch him in 17 again, and besides the movie being awful, he was good.

Well in his newest film Charlie St. Cloud, He seems to really have stepped his game up from the Disney musical movies to more serious work. This actually looks surprisingly very good. As far as what young hollyweird has to offer I'd say Efron has moved his name closer to the top of the list.

    "Jackie Brown" Prequel without Tarantino

JOBLO has the following scoop, It seems as though a prequel has already been written to JACKIE BROWN titled, THE SWITCH.

the project is titled, THE SWITCH after the name of the book that's being adapted for the screenplay. Dan Schechter penned the script and is working with Michael Siegel (CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, BE COOL) as a producer. Author of THE SWITCH, Elmore Leonard will be executive producer to the film. Schechter's directorial debut GOODBYE BABY has had some decent press and will be premiered at The Sundance Film Festival. Currently, there is no studio attached. However, the script is done and the search for a director and cast is about to begin.

JACKIE BROWN characters Ordell Robbie (Samuel L. Jackson) and Louis Gara (Robert De Niro) originated from THE SWITCH, but the story from the book didn't carry on to the film. Tarantino's film centered on Jackie Brown (Pam Grier) who gets caught with Ordell Robbie's (Jackson) money. Ordell employs Gara (De Niro) amongst many others to help murder Jackie.

THE SWITCH will cast younger versions of Robbie and Gara. But who will they choose?

The most shocking part about this news besides the fact that someone will be re-casting Sam Jackson and DeNiro, is Tarantino will NOT be returning to direct the prequel to his cult classic. At least they're not doing a prequel to Pulp Fiction, that I couldn't handle.

Who do you think should direct, and who could replace Jackson and DeNiro.

Also here's a brief synopsis of the book:

Ordell Robbie and Louis Gara hit it off in prison, where they were both doing time for grand theft auto. Now that they're out, they're joining forces for one big score. The plan is to kidnap the wife of a wealthy Detroit developer and hold her for ransom. But they didn't figure the lowlife husband wouldn't want his lady back. So it's time for Plan B and the opportunity to make a real killing -- with the unlikely help of a beautiful, ticked-off housewife who's hungry for a large helping of sweet revenge."

Howard Stark Cast in Captain America

Salon is reporting that Dominic Cooper will play a younger version of Howard Stark in Joe Johnston's Captain America: The First Avenger, which starts shooting next month in London.

Howard Stark aka Iron Man's dad made a small cameo in Iron Man 2 via footage of the 1974 Stark Expo. John Slattery had the cameo role in Iron Man, but being that Captain America takes place 30 years prior to the Stark Expo during World War II, they had to cast a younger Howard.

From what we know after Iron Man 2 Howard was a founding member of Sheild, and good friends with Nick Fury (Sam Jackson). I'm just guessing here, but could it be likely that Stark will have something to do with the Super Soldier program that transforms Steve Rogers into Captain America, purely speculative, but possible I'd say.

    What do you think?
