Superman & Faora Exchanging Glances In Smallville

For some reason the debate was still being had out in super geek forums across the interwebs, even though it was fairly obvious, Superman is not wearing trunks. Pictures from the Plano set which is representing Smallville conclude this. From the pictures Supes doesn't look none to happy that Faora and some Mo Cap menace are owning the streets that Clark once called home.

You can see why they wanted to release an official shot of the suit, because these photos don't do it justice either way. You can't tell if it is good or bad based off these shots. Suit looks dingy blue, and because of the lack of separation from the trunks, there is a lot of blue to be had. Some sort of hybrid belt on there too. Whats up prototype suit from "Flyby".

Not sure if it looks good or bad, it's sort of a grainy spy shot from The Man Of Steel Facebook Page. I can now safely say this site has some deep relationship with the studio based on these photos. The real question is, who is the walking house in the Mo Cap suit? Doesn't look like Zod to me. Please tell me Non is back. Maybe he'll be struggling with heat vision again. Such a problem with today's Kryptonians.

So what do you think? Is Superman bringing it or is it a fail?

"Man Of Steel" Versus Plano: Day 2

Ursa Is Faora, Faora Is Ursa.

More set pictures from downtown Plano, I mean, Smallville. I thought this set was going to be closed to the public to prevent any leaks? That was all smoke and mirrors I guess because on day two a number of photogs snapped pictures of Antje Traue in her full Kryptonian Femme Fetal Faora gear. Maybe Jimmy Olsen was part of that camera contingent considering we haven't heard if the bow tied boy is even in this flick.

I mean it's hard not to compare Faora to Ursa here. Tough to tell from the pictures which you can view both above and below, but it looks to me like there is a little Ursa in Faora from the color of the suit to possible the hair. I do like the cape. Interesting to note that Zod and whoever those three other dudes are going mo cap with the suit, while Faora has some black leatherish armor going on.

Wondering if the Phantom Zone is even involved or if these guys are just vacationing on Planet Houston for the holidays when the stumble on "The Son Of Their Jailor".

"Man Of Steel" Versus Plano: Day 1

After some healthy time shooting at the Kent Farm, Zach Snyder and company moved to the center of Smallville yesterday to tear some shit up. According to multiple reports the 7 Eleven just freshly built bit the dust courtesy of a fight brewing between Superman, Zod, Faora and the U.S. military machine. Below are some photos of what is being called a "closed set". Note the destroyed plane parts and helicopter which is being used for shooting, you can view videos of the helicopter below.

CornPalaceStudios via their YouTube account has some footage of the aftermath of the first day of shooting in Plano and some helicopters circling the set. Also Jane Kubisak via her Youtube Account has footage of some flying helicopters cutting up the sky over faux Smallville.

George Harrison: Living In The Material World Trailer

Although he was often referred to as the "quiet Beatle," George Harrison was by no means quiet on talent.  A brilliant guitarist whose songs SomethingHere Comes the Sun, and While My Guitar Gently Weeps are among some of The Beatles most classic hits (and whose hilarious scene in A Hard Day's Night has made the phrase "I'd be quite prepared for that eventuality" part of my permanent vocabulary), Harrison's long career also included a successful solo career after The Beatles, as well as some truly amazing humanitarian work.

Directed by Martin Scorsese, George Harrison: Living in the Material World is a two-part documentary set to air on HBO on October 5th and 6th that will chronicle the life and work of the famous Beatle. The film will include interviews with Harrison's wife Olivia and their son Dhani, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Eric Idle, Yoko Ono, as well as his former bandmates, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

You can check out the trailer below.  If you're any kind of a Beatles fan, this looks like a must-see:

Bond (2)3 Action Sequence Revealed?

People watch the James Bond movies to see exotic locations they've never seen before, the most beautiful women for the males in the audience to lust over (and, by default, be envious of the oversexed, ice-blooded MI6 agent) and have action sequences to make them go, "God. DAMN!"

The problem is the Broccolis always make the effort, to great or no success, to top those set-pieces from the previous outing. I distinctly remember folks saying that during the African chase-scene in the opening fifteen minutes of Casino Royale, and as much as I liked its sequel Quantum of Solace, there just wasn’t anything to match up to that. Although the Tosca scene was damn good by its own right.

The Times of India (via MI6) reports a major action scene for Bond (2)3's been planned to shoot in India but may not work out unless all the red tape can be taken care of:

"Pravesh Sahni of India Take One Productions, which is looking after the Indian leg of the shooting, said, 'This could be one of the biggest Hollywood movies shot in our country. Trains are the backbone of the film. We'll pay for the shooting and also mention Indian Railways in the credit line. The shooting was supposed to happen in October-November. Now, we've postponed it to January-February. For the past three months, we've been trying to get things in order. The film has Daniel Craig doing stunts on a freight train. While the Indian Railways has given us permission to shoot, I need to meet someone and explain how important it is for us to block two tracks for eight hours a day over five to six days. For the past 15 days, I've been trying to get someone to hear me out. South African authorities are waiting to provide everything that is required to support this movie. If we can't get this cooperation from India, the film will no longer be shot here.'"

Surely, the local authorities wouldn’t stop a major motion-picture like a James Bond movie from shooting there. Either or with the outcome, plenty of other parts of the world are ready and willing to take in Sam Mendes, Daniel Craig and the Broccolis.

Maybe we can finally get some genuine news on the movie beyond its release date next November?

Ben Affleck In Talks for First-Person Shooter Thriller Line of Sight

Turn a lesbian? Check.

Save the world from killer asteroids? Check.

Shake off the stink of "Bennifer?" Triple-check!

What else has Ben Affleck left to prove that he can't do? According to THR, make the first video-game movie that isn't a piece of celluloid shit. Sorta.

The trades report Affleck is in talks to direct and star in the action thriller Line of Sight for Warner Brothers:

"The idea, conceived by Silver Pictures' Alex Heineman (who also exec produces), centers on an elite commando squad transporting cargo while dealing with a global threat. One of the conceits of the movie is that it tells the tale from a point-of-view akin to a first-person shooter game. The script was recently worked on by Peter O’Brien, the man who wrote the game Halo: Reach for Xbox 360."

This would come after Affleck completes his soon-to-start-filming the Iran hostage thriller Argo. Talk about a movie that sounds great! If one wonders this is a tad too ambitious (Fair enough, point, I'll admit) and if Affleck is the man for this job, remember he was high on WB's list for The Man of Steel before turning them down and Zack Snyder got the gig.

Paramount Thinks You're Stupid – Re-Releasing Transformers 3 in IMAX for 2 Weeks

Why wait for Transformers 4D directed by Breck Eisner, starring Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Shia LaBeouf's cousin Bobby and Mike Myers as the voice of a Scottish Transformer in 2013?

In what is, most likely, a last ditch attempt to over throw Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows – Part II as 2011's highest grosser in the U.S. (Pfffff, that ain't happening!), Paramount is slotting Transformers: Dark of the Moon right back into IMAX screens for 2 weeks starting this Friday around 246 selected locations.

To their credit if you're going to pull this stunt, it might as well be at the end of the summer movie season when very-little else of worth is dropping. It's not like it's going to suddenly jump back into the Top 5 or anything. Both The Help and Rise of the Planet of the Apes will continue to thrive this weekend, thanks to word-of-mouth, shit competition and them being good movies.

Nevertheless, the movie-going public has had their fill of giant-retarded robots for 2011. It's been out since the end of June and made a whole bunch of dough – over $1 billion worldwide and just under $350 million domestic. But it wasn't enough to topple the Boy Wizard and this won't change the outcome. Even Avatar, the biggest movie of all-time, fizzled when 20th Century Fox threw it back into IMAX last year.

Let it go, Paramount.

Laugh While You Can (Before He's Dead) – Charlie Sheen Roast Teaser

When the inevitable occurs, we'll hear plenty of assholes in the media asking, "What could we have done?" Said schmucks might even put on Academy-Award worthy performances pretending they're surprised to hear he dropped dead with cocaine stuffed up his nostrils and his head stuck between some stripper's legs.

Fret not however, because until then you can laugh at this teaser for Comedy Central's Charlie Sheen roast. Because there's nothing funnier than seeing a human being (even one as self-destructive and selfish as Sheen) withering away before our eyes and some making light of it as his loved-ones (That is to say, those who aren't in attendance) watch in horror knowing there's nothing they can do to stop him.

Universal Hearts Justin Lin

The history books will read of Justin Lin as the Man Who Saved The Fast & the Furious.

Under his watch, that went from just short of the direct-to-video bin (after the receipts for Tokyo Drift, the third installment of the series and the first one he was assigned to direct, were deemed terrible) to money-printing machine after the "Let's get the old gang back together" centric  Fast & Furious and Fast Five.

As Lin preps Fast Six (or whatever numerically-inane title they can cook up) for May 2013, Variety reports a top the mountain Universal's inked a two-year deal with the director and his production company Barnstorm Pictures:

"Lin will focus on developing elevated tentpole and distinctive mainstream fare for global audiences. Projects currently being developed under the banner include 'Fast Six'; the spy drama 'Leading Man'; the 'Untitled 442 project' about a WWII Japanese American battalion that's the most decorated unit in American history; and an untitled sci-fi/crime thriller project to be directed by Robert Glickert."

Not included in that crop of projects is Terminator 5 which Lin's attached to and, as of this publication, isn't housed at any studio. Universal could always come in and sweeten the deal and nab it or leave it be. That's assuming a fifth Terminator sees the light of day.
