Lord of the Rings Returns to Theaters

Lord of the Rings fans will have the opportunity to kick off their summer vacations in Middle Earth when special screenings of the extended editions of the trilogy will play in select AMC theaters in June. The screening schedule will be as follows:
- The Fellowship of the Ring: June 14, 2011
- The Two Towers: June 21, 2011
- The Return of the King: June 28, 2011
Screening times and locations will be announced shortly on the AMC Theaters official event site. According to Tolkien fansite TheOneRing.net, expect another announcement soon regarding the special events that will be held during these exclusive screenings...like getting big-screen, extended-edition awesomeness wasn't enough already.
Of course, all of these Shire-inspired festivities are being held to celebrate the blu-ray release of these very same extended editions of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, expected in stores on June 28. Or maybe it's because my birthday is in June. Nah, probably not. But still, perfect timing anyway!
