    "The Raven" Poster

Obvious to me that Relativity Media is going for a similar feel to "Sherlock Holmes" with this project and they definitely have me interested. One problem is they don't have the likes of Downey as their lead, who has great chemistry on screen with Law. That being said, I am a huge Cusack nut and I am hoping to see some big things from McTeigue.

In this gritty thriller, opening March 9, 2012, Edgar Allen Poe joins forces with a young Baltimore detective to hunt down a mad serial killer who's using Poe's own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders.

    Superman Returns June 14th, 2013

I always thought it was a tad strange that WB was not giving an exact date for the release of "Man Of Steel" instead vaguely referencing December. It reminded me of "The Money Pit" when they kept telling Tom Hanks his house would be finished in "Two weeks."

Warner Bros officially announced today that Man of Steel will fly into theaters on June 14th, 2013 instead of landing on the holidays in 2012. It makes sense due to the fact that WB already has "The Hobbit" in December, but my theory was that Hobbit would move and was only a placeholder for Superman.

I look at this as a good thing, more time to get things right and makes room for reshoots and a better approach to marketing. Not that the film would have been rushed for December, but more time is never a bad thing.

Interesting to note that ComingSoon.Net now lists Jonathan Nolan as a writer on the project. Not sure if this adds more fuel to the Moviehole Story or is just an error.

    Lilly Collins IS Snow White

It's always interesting when a couple projects featuring the same story elements are racing against the clock to launch around the same time. The advantage that Tarsem Singh's yet to be titled Snow White project has going for it is it is coming out first, March 16th, 2012. While "Snow White And The Huntsman" is not due to drop until June 1st of next year.

I would imagine that having Julia Roberts cast as the Evil Queen gives you sort of a boost, although it didn't help Tom Hanks out any. Poor "Larry Crowne" aka "Back To School: The Boring Cut".

Below is the first shot from what I will call "Singh's Earlier Snow White" via Entertainment Weekly. The lovely Lily Collins of "The Blind Side" fame looks the part. Even Prince Armie Hammer might be smitten.

In the Relativity Media release, an evil Queen (Julia Roberts) steals control of a kingdom, and an exiled princess (Collins) enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright in a spirited adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance and betrayal that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over. Armie Hammer, Nathan Lane, Robert Emms, Mare Winningham, Michael Lerner, Mark Povinelli, Jordan Prentice, Danny Woodburn, Sebastian Saraceno, Ronald Lee Clark, Martin Klebba, Joey Gnoffo and Sean Bean co-star.

    "Paranormal Activity 3" Trailer

Apparently they are making another "Paranormal Activity". I did not know this, but I am not surprised. This could end up like the Saw series, endless possibilities. From the looks of the trailer we are talking 1980's which screams prequel to me.

As long as the ghosts via video keep putting asses in the seats, this series could be around for the next decade or so.

    DC Wins Rights To www.manofsteel.com

In what is a battle with time Zack Snyder's "Man Of Steel" is set to start filming next month in Plano, Illinois which is acting as Smallville, but there are some minor battles being won in the court rooms as well.

According to The Register DC Comics filed a cyber squatting complaint and has now won the rights to www.manofsteel.com in the case "DC Comics VS raton, Coni c/o LBR Enterprises". The registered party has owned the domain since 2001 but the ruling was that the "Respondent does not maintain any rights or legitimate interests in the disputed domain name" and "is being used in bad faith".

DC Comics owns the trademark on "Man Of Steel" and has since 1987. They also own the rights to "The Man Of Steel" which they've enjoyed since 1987. By most all accounts the title for the upcoming flick will be called "Man Of Steel" or possibly some other variation.

DC Comics still doesn't own the rights to "www.themanofsteel.com" or "www.supermanmanofsteel.com" but there is always tomorrow. Hopefully we'll see news or photos something soon on www.manofsteel.com.

"The Hobbit" Production Video Journal #3

Like many tentpole films, Peter Jackson & his Hobbits have decided to hang around Middle Earth rather than attend Comic Con in sunny San Diego. Although it was reported studios like WB had decided it wasn't worth it at this point to head to Con, Peter Jackson says otherwise as via his Facebook Page as he delivers the his 3rd video diary from the set.

Good news and bad news today. Bad news is that we won't be doing any Hobbit presentation at Comic Con in San Diego this year. New Line and Warner Bros were very happy to support a presentation, but I declined, simply because I felt it was too early. There's so much more of the films still to shoot. I just wanted to get that out there, because I've seen various references to the possibility of something Hobbity at Comic Con. Hate to disappoint anyone. But something tells me we will be there in force next year.
    Now for the good news...

We've just finished a new video blog, covering a little more of the first block of shooting. So please enjoy this—at least you don't have to travel to San Deigo to see it!

I've been on the go since wrapping the first shooting block, but I'm about to settle down and get into the much delayed 20 Questions. I've a few half-written and will get those done very, very soon! I promise!

    Cheers,

    Peter J

I do think that "Man Of Steel" and "The Hobbit" are going to completely own Comic Con next year and WB should have another huge year when you combine these two films with "Dark Knight Rises".
