Dracula = Harker?

Sounds like Warner Bros. is joining the club to make a vampire movie, although this one might actually be good.

First reported by Badass News and followed up by TOLDJA!, Warner Bros. is reportedly close to acquiring the spec script, Harker, a re-imagining of Bram Stoker's Dracula.  The script (written by Lee Shipman & Brian McGreevy) is said to focus on a character by the name of John Harker, a Scotland Yard detective who's on a mission to hunt down Dracula.

Shipman & McGreecy gained attention earlier in the year when it was announced that Sylvain White (The Losers) would direct their script, Pendragon, a fresh take on the tale of King Arthur.

Along with Warner Bros., Leonardo DiCaprio himself is involved in the project (though not in an acting capacity) as he plans to produce the film with his Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson Killoran, as well as co-produce it with Mad Hatter Entertainment.

The man said to be attached to direct the film is Orphan director Jaume Collet-Serra, whose newest film, Unknown, starring Liam Neeson, opens in less than two weeks.

I actually think this might be a fine project that comes together.  It's got great talent behind it and a unique take on a horror legend.  Let's just hope no one involved has seen Twilight.

Shawn Levy Directing 3D Fantastic Voyage Remake

Weird to think when your short-list included people like Darren Aronofsky, Timur Bekmambetov, Louis Leterrier and Jonathan Mostow, you settle on Shawn Levy. Or the fact that he was even included with that circle. I don't have blind nerd rage against the guy. But it just shows how random these things can be sometimes.

Levy, longtime alum of 20th Century Fox having made them a lot of money off family-friendly fare like Night at the Museum and Cheaper by the Dozen, has been selected to direct Fantastic Voyage according to "TOLDJA."

This remake of the 1966 film will be Fox's next big 3D affair and be produced by their unofficial Lord and Master James Cameron. Not much else to add at the moment since we don’t know of when they want Voyage out by and the recent news of the studio purchasing an untitled adventure project Levy will direct with Hugh Jackman.

The Hobbit Starts Filming Next Month - Until the Next Problem Arises

Until another disaster strikes (Sources will neither confirm nor deny it's been cursed by a gypsy), cameras will officially roll on Peter Jackson's two Hobbit films by the end of March reports One Ring. That'd be the 21st of March to be exact.

Representatives of Warner Brothers and director Jackson down-played what feels like the trillionth delay of filming after the director was rushed to the hospital a few weeks ago. It wound up being an ulcer, and yes, we can imagine it came from the stress the man’s endured to get this damn thing up and running.

Middle-Earth fans should start practicing their victory dances when the inevitable press release (You just know they'll send them out) is issued next month. Might not be a bad idea to include pictures taken from the set too. Just to prove "See! We are making The Hobbit!" to understandably cynical naysayers.

Everyone remains on script that the first installment will hit cinema-houses by next Christmas. But come on, guys, stop jerking fans around. You know it’s being pushed back to 2013.

Thor Superbowl Spot

The God of Thunder made his presence known during the Superbowl. How awesome was the ground shattering underneath him. This is my second most anticipated film of 2011.

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, “Thor,” which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Cowboys & Aliens Superbowl Spot

I love it when the trailers show up online before the game starts (but if you'd rather see it in all of it's big-screen, HDTV glory, it's scheduled to air after the first quarter).  Check out the Superbowl spot for Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens, starring Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig, and Olivia Wilde:

Oh hell yes, I will be seeing this.  Cowboys & Aliens opens in theaters on July 29.

1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

There Will Be No Dick In 'The Dark Knight Rises'

Wow.  Now I know why rumors like Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Heath Ledger returning as The Joker (through archival footage) gain steam on the internet:

People are complete idiots.

Come on, did you really think this website (run by college kids I might add) somehow gained insider knowledge that Robin was appearing in TDKR?  Not only that, didn't you then realize everyone involved in Christoper Nolan's Batman films, whether it be Bale, Goyer, or Nolan himself, state the character would never be used?  Finally (and this should have been the nail in the coffin), didn't you then come to the realization that with the amount of secrecy that goes into Nolan's films, why a small-town news outlet would somehow land the scoop of the year?

Yes internet, you never seize to doubt my belief in the intellect of the human mind.

Well, if that logic wasn't good enough for you, we have confirmation from two extremely reliable websites (Batman-On-Film, Moviehole) that, as one website puts it, Batman won't be getting any Dick in TDKR.

I hope this clears things up pretty well for all of you and enjoy the Super Bowl.

Has Jessica Biel Already Been Cast In Superman?

I can't even wrap my mind around all of the info that is flying around in regards to the upcoming Superman reboot. Front and center is the news and rumors being tossed against the wall involving the female lead along side Henry Cavill.

First we heard that Kristen Stewart was involved on some level, then we heard she wasn't. Then we heard that along with Stewart, Malin Akerman, Dianna Argon, Jessica Biel, and Rachel McAdams were up for Lois. After that came the news that Olivia Wilde was also in the running. Next we were hit with the news that Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike were up for the female lead and it wasn't Lois. Assumptions were launched that Lois wasn't in the film until we heard today that the three blonde bombshells were vying for the role of Ursa. I'm tired just typing it.

Is it possible that one of these fine ladies has already landed a role in the next Superman film and it just hasn't been announced yet? Come fly with me as I speculate.

On February 1st "Complacent Film" tweeted that Jessica Biel was spotted wining and dining with Zack Snyder.

The next day, February 1st, Biel was spotted leaving a medical center in Beverly Hills. Could it be possible that while enjoying a nice lunch with Snyder she found out she landed a role in Superman pending a physical? When an actor is or is about to be cast in a role they have to take a physical for insurance purposes. Is this the case with Biel, or is her lunch with Snyder a fantasy and her medical exam simply a routine check up?

Call it speculation or connecting the dots, but it is interesting nonetheless.

James Franco Up for Oz: The Great & Powerful

James Franco is trying to become the 1990s era Johnny Depp.

Think back those of you old enough to remember. Few of Depp's films during that time were rocking the box-office charts. But people looked on in curiosity. There was no way to gage what he was going to do next. Same thing going on with Franco these days.

As per Heat Vision, his journey continues as Disney is eyeing the soon-to-be Oscar host for Oz: The Great & Powerful for the title role. He doesn't jump to mind for a big $200 million tentpole. But again neither did Depp for Pirates of the Caribbean, and see how well that worked out.

Talks between Franco and the studio are so early at this stage he hasn't even met with his former Spider-Man helmer Sam Raimi just yet. So this could easily fall apart.

Ursa Will Appear in Superman Reboot

Further proof a lot of people following the movie-news scene lack reading comprehension skills.

British actresses Alice Eve and Rosemund Pike and German actress Diane Kruger were reported (via the trades) to be up for the female lead in Zack Snyder's Superman reboot for next Christmas. But in a twist, they stated the role in question wasn’t for Lois Lane.

For some reason, that translated, by many, to "Oh my God! Lois Lane isn't in the reboot?!?" Even though the trade publication never once stated or implied the Daily Planet reporter with a thing for Kryptonian superheroes masquerading as bumbling, but loveable, dorks wouldn't appear.

Latino Review got to digging and found out what's up. So what did their Burbank moles squeal?

First, Lois is in the reboot so chill out fanboys. Second, this phantom lady paraded about for Eve, Kruger and Pike (God knows there could be others before things are definite) is Ursa, the Kryptonian villainess from the first two Christopher Reeve movies.

Since we know she'll be flying around the Earth causing grief for the new Man of Steel (UK actor Henry Cavill), sounds like those General Zod rumors were for real. Yeah, yeah, I remember Zack Snyder denying that last year. Because as we all know, actors, filmmakers, etc. never ever lie about information that gets out early.
