"Prom" Trailer

This sounds like the squeaky clean alternative for parents desperate to keep their teenagers away from MTV's Skins.  Whether or not those same teenagers will want to see Disney's Prom, a movie about the trials and tribulations of high school's biggest night, is another question.  It certainly looks sweet enough, though:

"X-Men: First Class" Logo

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names of Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

LLEJU Prod.To Produce & Finance "The Baytown Disco"

William O. Perkins, founder and President of LLeju Productions announced today that they are financing and producing THE BAYTOWN DISCO, which follows the foibles of three redneck brothers who get more than they bargained for after agreeing to help a woman get her son back from his seemingly-abusive father.  First-time director Barry Battles will helm the film which is based on a script he co-wrote with Griffin Hood (I Ran Against Us, Mr. Extion). Robert Teitel (Notorious, Men of Honor, Barbershop Franchise, Soulfood) and George Tillman under their State Street Pictures banner will produce with LLeju Productions who optioned the script and control the rights. Mary Vernieu at Betty Mae is casting for the pic which is based on a script that was listed on 2009’s “Black List” of Hollywood’s top unproduced projects.

“We found Barry and Griffin’s script to be edgy, fun and entertaining, which is synonymous with the LLeju brand. This is the ideal project for us to partner with Bob and George.” said Perkins.

Teitel said “After meeting Bill, we’re very much looking forward to collaborating with LLeju, and we hope this leads to future projects. We’re confident Barry and Girffin’s script will find commercial appeal with audiences everywhere.”

THE BAYTOWN DISCO will be the first collaboration between LLeju Productions and State Street Pictures.  Production starts in early May in Louisiana.

THE BAYTOWN DISCO will follow LLeju’s upcoming theatrical release of the Paz Vega starrer Cat Run on April 1st and The Chameleon, which hits theaters this spring and stars Ellen Barkin and Famke Janssen.

Bale Reteaming With Brad Anderson For 'Concrete Island'

So it looks like Christian Bale is going to be dropping weight...again.

Speaking with We Got This Covered, The Machinist director, Brad Anderson, revealed that he's currently working on an adaptation of J.G. Ballard's novel, Concrete Island, with none other than Christian Bale set to star.  Along with Bale, Scott Kosar, who wrote the script for The Machinist, is back for this project as well.

It's basically a reteaming of The Machinist crew.  Yes!

The story of Concrete Island revolves around a man who finds himself stranded on a man-made island following a car crash.  With nothing left to survive other than what remains in his car, the survivor begins to deteriorate both mentally and physically.

Read below for the full synopsis [via Amazon]:

On a day in April, just after three o'clock in the afternoon, Robert Maitland's car crashes over the concrete parapet of a high-speed highway onto the island below, where he is injured and, finally, trapped. What begins as an almost ludicrous predicament soon turns into horror as Maitland—a wickedly modern Robinson Crusoe—realizes that, despite evidence of other inhabitants, this doomed terrain has become a mirror of his own mind.

Anton Yelchin to Star in Stephen Sommers' 'Odd Thomas'

Even though Anton Yelchin is closing in on the youthful age of 22, I've always felt he's one of the best, young actors working today.  Sure, he's done commercial fluff (Star Trek, Terminator Salvation) that he's handled very well, but his work in smaller films has really shown in true talent (Alpha Dog, Charlie Bartlett).  Not to mention, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders so he's not going all Charlie Sheen anytime soon.

With that said, Shock Till You Drop is reporting that Yelchin has signed on to star in Stephen Sommers' adaptation of Dean Koontz's novel, Odd Thomas.

Yelchin would play the main character, Odd, who, though is just an ordinary man, has the ability to communicate with the dead.  This extraordinary gift leads him on a path to use his abilities to prevent a mass catastrophe that threatens everyone and everything close to him.

Sommers (who recently dropped out of directing G.I. Joe 2...or was he given the boot?) is currently in pre-production on the film which is set to start filming later this year.  Hopefully he can tone down the special effects and actually make a quality film.  An actor of Yelchin's talent deserves it.

Full synopsis for Koontz's Odd Thomas below [via Amazon]:

Adult/High School-Odd Thomas is just that. He works as a fry cook in the fictional California town of Pico Mundo. Should he ever leave that position, he sees a future in selling tires or shoes. What he lacks in ambition, he makes up for with a special gift. He communes with and sees the dead, some of whom enlist his help in avenging their deaths from foul play. His gift is a secret from everyone except his beautiful girlfriend and the Chief of Police, who never questions Odd's tips, advice, or presence at a murder scene. The man sees "bodachs" as well, small, evil creatures, fluid in shape, that feed upon horrific acts of carnage. He is horrified to see hordes of them gathering in his town. He spots a weird looking stranger in whom the bodachs appear very interested, nicknames him Fungus Man, and rightly assumes that he is involved in the impending disaster. Breaking into the man's house, Odd finds a mysterious black room, a shrine to serial killers, and a page from a calendar that tells him the date of the planned event. Now it's a race against time to foil the plot.

And Then There Was One: Alice Eve For Superman?

It wasn't even a week ago that The Trades reported three contenders for a role in the Superman reboot; Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike. The Trades were very clear that the role these actresses were up for was not Lois Lane. Cue mass panic across forums and websites, "WTF!? Loiz Lanes not in teh Supermanz?!" Rumors were abound as to what character these blonde bombshells from across the pond would be playing. We heard every character from Cat Grant to Lana Lang. That was until Latino Review followed the story up with news that the role was actually for the curvaceous Kryptonian Ursa. What's up "Superman 2"? Long time no see.

Now The Trades are reporting that Diane Kruger is penciled in to start in the French Revolution drama, "Les Adieux a la reine". Kruger is in line to play Marie Antoinette in the feature length drama about the French Revolution. The flick is based of a novel and "is told from the point of Marie Antoinette's reader", whatever the hell that means. Did I mention Gerard Depardieu is in this flick? Yes, that just happened. So this move looks like it leaves Diane Kruger out of the running for Superman, which I she flat out denied her involvement in anyway.

On top of the Kruger news, TOLDJA! is reporting that Rosamund Pike is indeed going to start in a blockbuster Warner Bros movie, but no, it isn't Superman. Pike will be inserted into the role of Andromeda in the sequel to "Clash Of The Titans". Doesn't look like she'll be sharing the screen with Henry Cavill instead she will opt for screen time with one Sam Worthington. The funny thing is she will actually be replacing Alexa Davlos who played the role of Andromeda in "Clash Of The Titans". So it looks like there is only one actress left?

The buxom Alice Eve looks like she is still available for a role in Superman. Whether it is Ursa or not remains to be seen. If you want to go on looks alone, I am seeing Cat Grant or to a lesser degree Lana Lang. To me it sounds like Kruger and Pike just found out they didn't land the role and moved on to their back up plans. In Pike's case WB instead offered her the "Clash of the Titans" sequel. This could mean that Eve has indeed landed the role, or it has gone to another actress yet to be named. Either that or none of these actresses were involved in the first place. Eve as Cat Grant or Ursa? Lohan as Lana Lang? Biel as Lois Lane? Weeding through all these rumors should be a job for Superman.

Lindsay Lohan Wants To Fly With Superman

This is sort of a secret, but for the good of this article, I am going to reveal it to everybody. I am a huge fan of "Mean Girls". I have probably seen it at least three dozen times. My girlfriend thinks I have completely lost my mind considering the excitement I have any time I see it on TBS or some other station that repeats movies over and over again. Why wouldn't you want to soak in the eye candy that is Rachel McAdams, Lace Chabert, & Amanday Seyfried, and  of course Lindsay Lohan while laughing it up at their expense? Tina Fey brought the noise while adapting the script and now my deep dark secret is out for all to see.

Lohan has had her ups and downs since then. Her acting career has become something as a joke, her weight has plummeted to unhealthy standards, and let's not forget her "Duke Boys" like trouble with the law. Despite all that, TMZ has floated out a rumor that Lohan has been in constant contact with the powers that be to secure a role in the next Superman flick. Anything is possible at this point, so it's tough to come out and say, "No way this could be true!" I never thought Henry Cavill would be up for the role of Superman, never mind cast, I was flat out told he wouldn't by people at The Brothers Warner. Sweet contacts. Thanks guys.

If it isn't Lois Lane, and could still be a major character there are several choices. Lohan would make for pretty spot on Lana Lang looks wise, almost as if she has stepped off the pages of the comic themselves. If not Lana, maybe Cat Grant, a gossip columnist who flirts it up with Clark Kent at The Daily Planet. Other possibilities include the Kryptonian villianess Ursa (doubtful) or Mercy, one of Lex Luthor's bodyguards and occasional bang buddy. If Robert Downey Jr. and now Charlie Sheen can live all of their nine lives, maybe LiLo can as well.
