Harry Potter Just Wants to Sing

With all of the drama surrounding the much-maligned Spiderman musical, it's hard to believe there are actually other big shows opening on Broadway this season...at least, shows that are still scheduled to open on time without sending any of their actors to the emergency room.  Case in point: How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, starring Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe as CEO-in-training J. Pierrepont Finch, which is set to start previews this week.

Vogue talked with Radcliffe during a photo shoot with Annie Liebovitz about his impending musical theater debut.  Having already wowed theater audiences in London and New York with his performance in Equus, getting back to the stage won't be an issue.  But dancing on stage for the first time?  OK, that makes him a little nervous.  However, he does seem geniunely excited to be doing the show, and more than a little relieved that, unlike Equus (in which his character infamously got naked and blinded horses on stage), this is a show that entire families can enjoy.  You can watch the full Vogue interview here.

How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying starts previews at the Al Hischfeld Theater on February 26, and opens officially on March 27.  In addition to Radcliffe, the show also stars John Larroquette as Radcliffe's boss, J.B. Biggley, and will feature the voice of CNN's Anderson Cooper as the narrator.

New Battle: Los Angeles Poster

IGN has gotten hold of the new poster for forthcoming alien invasion war movie 'Battle:Los Angeles' a film that kind of looks like a video game but could be good big screen fun to kick of the pre-summer movie season, basically an appetizer before the big boys are unleashed around May.

The poster itself if fairly bland and looks like a video game box, it is all a bit cluttered and lacks detail and focus.

Louis Leterrier Lines Up Magician Heist Pic!

This is one of the best concept twists I've seen on the heist flick for some time, it's just a shame a better director is not attached.

Leterrier is coming off the back of the dubious duo of 'The Incredible Hulk' and 'Clash of the Titans' but hopefully this concpet and lack of CGI rquired will see him elevate his game.

The Playlist has the scoop.

While he didn’t land the gig directing the James Cameron produced 3D remake of “Fantastic Voyage”—the job has gone to Shawn Levy—Louis Leterrier hasn’t wasted any time in finding another project, and it’s a pretty intriguing high concept heist movie.

Leterrier has confirmed with The Playlist that he will direct “Now You See Me” for Summit Entertainment. Written by Boaz Yakin (”Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time,” “Fresh”) and Edward Ricourt, the film follows a crack FBI squad in a game of cat-and-mouse against a super-team of the world’s greatest illusionists, who pull off a series of daring bank heists during their performances and showers the profits on to their audiences. That certainly doesn’t sound like any heist film we’ve seen before, and as fans of the genre, our interest is piqued.

“It’s amazing. Only great people involved,” Leterrier told us about the project and he’s not joking. He’ll have the powerhouse duo of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci behind him producing under their Kurtzman/Orci banner. Yakin and Bobby Cohen will executive produce.

The Amazing Spider-Man Isn't Completely a Reboot?

Some of you old enough (like my twenty-six year old elderly ass) recall Untold Tales of Spider-Man back in the mid-1990s?

I remember it cost a buck and change, and served as the sole salvation for us comic-fans having to endure the dreaded Clone Saga. What was interesting was how it was written and drawn like the original Stan Lee/Steve Ditko run on The Amazing Spider-Man comic-book series and set within its continuity. So everything gelled with events that happened, but they still found ways to have fun with the period.

According to this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, that might be the plan for The Amazing Spider-Man, a film we all thought was going to be a 100% Grade-A certified reboot of the franchise:

"Exec producer Avi Arad says the film won't erase what came before but will try to weave a narrative that could take place within the framework of the earlier films. 'It's not a comeback,' he says. 'You have to look at it this way: Do you want to know more about Spider-Man? This movie is going to tell stories that you didn’t see in movies 1, 2, and 3."

That's an intriguing way to go. It could certainly explain decisions made like taking the web-slinger back to high-school, no Mary Jane-Watson or J. Jonah Jameson in the cards, Gwen Stacy as the love-interest (But then again...didn't he meet her for the first time in Spider-Man 3 or what that a little up-in-the-air?) and having the Lizard when he was noticeably sitting on the bench during the Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire/Kirsten Dunst films.

It also sounds overly-complicated when it isn't necessary and kinda defeats the purpose of starting over this franchise. I always thought the best route going forward without Raimi/Maguire/Dunst was keeping the supporting players like J.K. Simmons, Rosemary Harris and Dylan Baker and treating the film's continuity in a vague fashion like the pre-Daniel Craig James Bond films and Batman Forever.

All New Trailer for... THOR!

YahooMovies! has released the all new trailer for Marvels upcoming THOR due out May 6th, 2011.

The powerful but arrogant warrior Thor is cast out of the fantastic realm of Asgard and sent to live amongst humans on Earth, where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.

Smart move by Marvel! Unlike the unimpressive trailer released in front of the Super bowl this new look is sure to get you at least remotely excited. Although Captain America still looks like the best thing Marvel has out this year, Thor suddenly seems like it might make a little splash as well.

Shane Black Directing Iron Man 3!

What was only rumoured to be a possibility just a few days ago has now been confirmed by TOLDJA! Shane Black will be directing Iron Man 3. What's not confirmed at this point is whether Black will work from a screenplay he also writes or if someone else will be brought on board to pen the third installment in the franchise.

Iron Man 3 will be a reunion of sorts for Black and star Downey jr who worked together on 2005's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. The film which marked Blacks directing debut was also the start of Downeys comeback, so the re-teaming at this point seems logical. Especially after the departure of director Jon Favreau who launched the franchise in 2008 with a breakout hit only to have Iron Man 2 man handled behind the scenes by Marvel and ultimately deciding to leave for another Disney related property instead of returning for a third go round.

Iron Man 3 is scheduled for release in 2013 with no known script or prodcution start date as of yet.

Henry Cavill Talks About Being New Superman; Joe Manganiello Was the Runner-Up!

Earlier this morning, Entertainment Weekly gave a tease of what to expect from their latest publication pertaining to our new Superman (Henry Cavill) including the British thespian's first comments since being cast.

It was only a matter of time before somebody got their hands on the magazine and threw up what was said. I guess that’d be us this time. Among the highlights includes director Zack Snyder almost encounter casting Cavill for his highest-profile film (That is before helming the Superman reboot) 300:

"Snyder says he would have cast Cavill in his 2007 film 300, except the actor was holding out for another job: becoming the next 007. ‘I came very close,’ says Cavill. 'The choice was between a younger Bond and a Bond closer to his 30s, which is to say, Daniel Craig.'"

On who else was in contention to stand for truth, justice and the American way, Snyder was mum. But let one name outta his tongue – one we’d already known was up for it: True Blood's Joe Manganiello:

"'Joe's a great guy. I really liked him, says Snyder, adding that it came down to a gut decision. 'It was about seeing a quality that inspires the inexplicable, mysterious, cool emotion that says, 'That's my guy.'"

As for Superman himself, Cavill reconfirmed the now-infamous story of his candidacy under the McG incarnation back in 2004 and how it’s come full circle now (“But here I am, seven years later. Got ya! It was wonderful to have a second stab at a job – and as a wiser, older, more experienced actor.”), denied those claims of his being up for Batman Begins and his frustration of not being able to contact loved ones like his girlfriend and parents after the eventful phone-call from Snyder confirming he'd gotten the gig.

For the remaining time between now and the start of production (Scheduled for sometime this summer), Cavill will be busy getting into Superman shape and readying himself for wearing the iconic red-and-blue suit:

"'Even during the audition, even amid my anxiety while wearing the older model, I had this extraordinary feeling: ‘Wow. I’m wearing the cape. I'm wearing the S.' Extraordinary,' he says. 'I can't wait to do it for real.'"

Everyone sounds pumped to get going and enthusiastic. So that's a good thing, especially amidst those reports of script problems. Curious to see how long Warner Brothers actually takes until we get our first full-fledged look at Cavill as Superman and Clark Kent.

Movie Moan TV - 'Dave' (1993)

It's a little bit of cinematic comfort food this week as the Movie Moan crew delve into Ivan Reitman's last decent film 'Dave' from 1993.

Before you think there'd be nothing to say about a charming little comedy, 'Dave' offers us the chance to discuss political objectivity, how screwed up Sigourney Weaver's character is (if you really think about it), Ving Rhames with hair plus the most important question of all. ; What will government be like come the inevitable day that Queen Kristina gets elected into power?

Cavill Looks Super On The Cover Of EW

This weeks Cover Of EW features the new Superman himself Henry Cavill looking like a hero in a leather jacket with the Superman \S/ peaking out on a washed out t-shirt. You can't say the guy doesn't look the part of a modern day Superman. Not a doubt in my mind we are going to be witnessing a totally different version of Superman on screen. You put Welling, Routh, & Reeve in the same room and you can tell they're trying out for the same part. Not this guy.

All this talk about script problems and issues with Snyder, stop it. This movie is happening with Snyder at the helm and Cavill with a cape on. No amount of attempts at bad press is going to halt that. The Brothers Nolan and The Brothers Warner are like the giant rolling boulder chasing down the competition, you can out run it but you can't stop it. See you December 2012.

Cavill On Putting On The Suit During The Screen Test

All I could think was: Oh, god. They’re going to look at me and go ‘He’s not Superman. Not a chance.’ The actor inside me was going: You’re not ready! You’re not ready!”

Snyder On Seeing Cavill In The Test Suit

“Other actors put that suit on, and it’s a joke, even if they’re great actors. Henry put it on, and he exuded this kind of crazy-calm confidence that just made me go ‘Wow.’ Okay: This was Superman.’”

New 'Scream 4' Poster

Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately Sidney’s appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.
