Tom Hardy Talks Playing Bane In "Dark Knight Rises"

You almost feel like when you hear some news on "Dark Knight Rises", that it can't possibly be true. That's only because The Brothers Nolan are so secretive when it comes to the bat. However this news is actually live and can't be disputed. See below for the video via Batman-News.Com.

Tom Hardy appeared on the Alan Carr: Chatty Man talk show this evening and talked about Bane and The Dark Knight Rises for the first time publicly. Hardy explained that he has three months to put on about 30 pounds of muscle, which will bring him up to about 200. He confirmed that he starts shooting in May, but wouldn’t say for sure if he’d be wearing a mask. Check out the video and see the brief Batman discussion for yourself.

I wasn't sure about using the character of Bane, but hearing Hardy talk about it pumps me up a little. 30 pounds of muscle? This guy is bringing it and I am sure Nolan will bring it in this 3rd installment. From the sounds of it Hardy might actually break Bale's back when they are out to dinner after shooting.

Glee the Movie: Coming to Theaters Before Everyone Turns 30!

Doing a film-version of a television series with the principle cast while it's still on the air. Has that ever worked? Only thing that comes to mind is The Simpsons Movie, and that's debatable. Many, myself included, would argue they waited fifteen years or so too late.

I remember back during the summer of 1998 a lot of the pre-release/Internet hype (besides Godzilla and the competing asteroid productions Armageddon and Deep Impact) centered on the X-Files film Fight the Future. It opened relatively strong, but petered out by its second weekend in theaters. That's because the movie felt like a bigger-budget, two-hour episode of the series.

The problem is simple yet complex. You have to convince people to pay $10 for something they already get to see for free on a weekly basis. It's a bizarre proposition, but if you do it while the show is in its ratings, and pop-culture, prime, the argument could be made in its favor. On the other hand, if you wait too long and do it when the show's on the outs, if not off the air by that time, it's come off as "Too little, too late." Such is the case of the 24 movie 20th Century keeps talking about – I'm sorry, Kiefer. I know you just said this morning, as per Coming Soon, that it was definitely happening. But I don't buy it at this point.

Which brings us to the point of this post (I apologize if I give detailed ramblings here and there), What's Playing (Still riding high from their big Terminator 5: The Search for Arnie's Dignity scoop) happened to have some brief words with an unnamed member of the popular musical/comedy series Glee. As you can guess, a Glee movie is in the cards "before the majority of the cast is 30."

I guess that isn't in the near-future since I don't know the actual ages of the actors let alone their names beyond Jane Lynch obviously – just their faces like the cute brunette who's the lead. Hell for all I know they could twenty-seven or something, but you get the idea. Again this goes back to the situation with 24. They just waited too damn long, and now we’re stuck with endless, and meaningless until proven otherwise, quotes from people like Sutherland swearing a movie is coming.

Isn't Glee already getting a quasi-backlash too? If Fox is gung-ho for the movie, go ahead and do it now while the show is still in the pop-culture zeitgeist.

Kevin Costner To Join 'Superman'?

Kevin Costner is reportedly up for a "key role" in Zack Snyder's new Superman film via TOLDJA! The role is unknown but early speculation, based on Costner's age, is it could be Jor-El, Perry White, Jonathan Kent, or even Lois Lane's father, General Sam Lane. Henry Cavill is so far the only cast member announced for the film, playing Clark Kent/Superman.

More on this story as it develops.

New "The Hobbit" Set Photos

I'm still trying to figure out how the powers that be behind this movie still believe they are going to hit that December 2012 release date. Seems like a tall tale with an 18 month shoot ahead of them, but what do I know. I'm just kind of a writer.

The folks over at TheOneRing have some new production photos from the set of the Hobbit located in Miramar, New Zealand.

Here is some more in depth info on what the location may be that Latino Review dug up:

Moria is the name given to the underground city, mines, and tunnels underneath the central Misty Mountains. It was a thriving Dwarvish community that excavated mithril. As for The Lonely Mountain, it was the dwarven stronghold with large amounts of gold and treasure—which attracted Smaug, the dragon, to the mountain.

Weekend Box Office: February 18-20

Courtesy of Box Office Mojo:

1.  Unknown - $21.7 million

2.  I Am Number Four - $19.5 million

3.  Gnomeo & Juliet - $19.4 million

4.  Just Go With It - $18.2 million

5.  Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son - $17 million

6.  Justin Bieber: Never Say Never - $13.6 million

7.  The King's Speech - $6.5 million

8.  The Roommate - $4.1 million

9.  The Eagle - $3.5 million

10.  No Strings Attached - $3.1 million

Liam Neeson proved that he can still kick some ass at the box office, as Unknown took the top spot this weekend.  The Bourne Identity-meets-Taken action thriller earned a solid $21.7 million, and should continue to play well into the next few weekends.  As far as the 4-day holiday weekend is concerned, however, the film could have some serious competition from some garden gnomes, as the family crowd has been turning up in droves for Disney's Gnomeo & Juliet, which had an impressive second weekend, earning $19.4 million.

It was not such a great weekend for I Am Number Four.  Hoping to capture the Twilight crowd with a similar girl-meets-alien premise, the film barely beat out Gnomeo & Juliet with a weak $19.5 million.  Budgeted at $50 million (and a small fortune more on marketing, considering how it was advertised everywhere the past few weeks), it better have some amazing word-of-mouth if it's hoping to earn its money back.

This weekend's other new release, Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son, earned $17 million, far below the previous two installments in the series.  Perhaps they should take that as a hint to put this franchise to bed already.

Justin Bieber, you may have defeated the Jonas Brothers, but you're no Hannah Montana at the box office.  The pop star's Never Say Never dropped 54% this weekend, which was expected, since most of his target audience raced to see it last weekend.  But since a lot of kids are off from school this week, it should continue to some more steady business for at least another week before it finally fades for good.

Next weekend sees the releases of the comedy Hall Pass, and the Nicolas Cage 3D action thriller Drive Angry.  Summer, please get here soon!
