"Limelight" Trailer

iTunes has the officail trailer for "Limelight". Enjoy.

As the owner of legendary hotspots like Limelight, Tunnel, Palladium, and Club USA, Peter Gatien was the undisputed king of the 1980s New York City club scene. The eye-patch-sporting Ontario native built and oversaw a Manhattan empire that counted tens of thousands of patrons per night in its peak years, acting as a conduit for a culture that, for many, defined the image of an era in New York. Then years of legal battles and police pressure spearheaded by Mayor Giuliani's determined crackdown on nightlife in the mid-'90s led to Gatien's eventual deportation to Canada, and the shuttering of his glitzy kingdom.

Featuring insider interviews with famous players in the club scene as well as key informants in Gatien's high-profile trial, Billy Corben's (Cocaine Cowboys) exuberant documentary aims to set the record straight about Gatien's life as it charts his rise and fall against the transformation of New York, offering a wild ride through a now-closed chapter in the history of the city's nightlife.

Camo Tumbler Bites The Dust......Literally!

I'm sure by now most have seen the set vids and pics of the Dark Knight Rises action being filmed in Pittsburgh, and are aware that Bane and his mercs appear to have commandeered three camo Tumblers.

Well there has been talk over the last week that one of them would end up in the ground via a hole blown in the road, most likely by Batman's new aerial vehicle, and today a video was captured of the awesome stunt.

Underworld Awakening Trailer!

I liked the first two Underworld movies directed by Len Wiseman and starring his wife Kate Beckinsale, but I wasn't a fan of the prequel starring Rhona Mitra and set back in the dark ages. Now Kate is back as death dealer Selene but hubby Len is only a producer and writer on this one with Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein, a Swedish directing duo, taking over that role.

The trailer has debuted on Movielist.com and I think it looks great, the threat seems bigger, the story has been moved forward and the action looks as cool and slick as the first two directed by Wiseman, so it keeps the feeling of continuity.

Underworld Awakening opens January 20, 2012 and you can check out the synopsis and trailer below.

Plot: Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.

Trespass Trailer

It's been a while since Joel Schumacher had a new film, unless there was one I missed, and this does look a bit like slumming it for the two leads, well for Oscar baiter Kidman, as we know Cage makes some very odd choices where genre movies are concerned. Although Kidman did take a support role in an Adam Sandler comedy last year, so maybe neither are getting the good scripts these days.

Anyway the film looks like a cross between the Harrison Ford thriller 'Firewall' and the Bruce Willis thriller 'Hostage', only not as good as either. Yahoo got the debut of the trailer and you can check it out below.

I Hate Thinking Too: The Not So New "Man Of Steel" Synopsis

\

The Brothers Warner in partnership with DC Entertainment and Legendary Pictures have thrown out a call to arms aka an open casting call on Vancouver Island. This is an extras only casting call, not speaking roles, in both Naniamo and Ucluelet. Fully paid.

The funny thing is that eleventeen websites are running the synopsis that goes with this casting call as "the official synopsis" as if they've never seen it before. It was posted five months ago on a site called MovieNewz that everybody laughed at because they used a "z" in their title instead of an "s". I'm sure a number of websites covered it back in April, but have erased it from their minds as if they've been kissed by Clark Kent himself.

Interestingly enough, the synopsis they posted back in April turns out to be spot on. Not sure where they got it, maybe Production Weekly, but win one for the little guy I guess. Another interesting tidbit, Snyder actually used the first line you are seeing in this synopsis in the press release put out when Henry Cavill was cast. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”

Here is the rest of the casting call from SuperManHomePage. This part is actually new, unlike the synopsis.

Oh My God! South Park Celebrates 15 Years on Comedy Central

And they still don't look a day over 9.  The long-running animated series South Park is getting ready to kick off the rest of its 15th season on Comedy Central, and the network plans to commemorate 15 years of the world's most foul-mouthed fourth graders with a new behind-the-scenes documentary that is set to air at 10pm on October 2, according to Playbill.com.

The documentary, which is part of a year-long South Park celebration, will include a visit to the South Park Studios in Los Angeles, where the show's creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, will provide an exclusive look at the making of a South Park episode.  If we're lucky, it won't be a closer look at the "HUMANCENTiPAD" episode that opened this current season.  Yikes.

Earlier this summer, Parker and Stone won multiple Tony Awards for their insanely funny Broadway musical, The Book of Mormon.  Between the success of Mormon, which currently breaking house records at NY's Eugene O'Neill Theater and is sold out well into next year, and the downer of a mid-season finale in "You're Getting Old", in which one of the kids is actually allowed to turn 10, fans speculated that this current season may be South Park's last.  However, Entertainment Weekly reported last month that the show has been renewed for another two seasons.

The second half of South Park's 15th season will start on October 5.

The $5 Million Villain

That's not Angelina Jolie. I was fooled for a second that it was the luscious lipped actress but the photo shows Rose McGowan in an attempt to mimic Jolie. Not a far stretch. McGowan is playing the sorceress villain, Marique, in the upcoming Conan The Barbarian remake and when the studio asked if she'd shave her hairline back and remove the eyebrows she said it would take $5 million.

"The studio asked if I would shave my eyebrows and my hairline back to here, and I thought, 'Sure, if you give me $5 million"

Lionsgate wisely said 'fuggetaboutit' and placed the burden upon the make-up department to fancy her face a bit and probably sit through stories of why the look is actually worth such a high price tag.

"I sat from about two in the morning till around 7:30 in the morning," she said of the process, which included slicking back her natural hair and wearing a prosthetic piece that went over her eyebrows and back to the middle of her head.

Conan The Barbarian opens this Friday and will try to overcome the terrible problems Clash of the Titans had with the 3D format. I've seen the trailer in 3D and it's not impressive at all. I needed a heavy dose of Tylenol to remove the headache it caused.

A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.

Happy Feet Two Images

Comingsoon.net scored a few new images from Happy Feet Two. I caught a trailer for the movie before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and it caused my to hang my head into my hand. The little ones may love this but it really doesn't look like I'll be catching this other than flipping through channels in a few years. I've nothing against animated features, it's just that this one looks passable. Happy Feet Two hits theatres on November 18th in all current formats.

In the sequel to the Academy Award winning animated smash hit, Mumble, The Master of Tap, has a problem because his tiny son Erik is choreo-phobic. Reluctant to dance, Erik runs away and encounters The Mighty Sven - a penguin who can fly!! Mumble has no hope of competing with this charismatic new role model. But things get worse when the world is shaken by powerful forces. Erik learns of his father's 'guts and grit' as Mumble brings together the penguin nations and all manner of fabulous creatures - from tiny Krill to giant Elephant Seals - to put things right.

The film features the voices of Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Hank Azaria, Alecia Moore (P!nk), Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Sofia Vergara, Common, Hugo Weaving, Magda Szubanski, Anthony LaPaglia, Richard Carter and Benjamin "Lil P-Nut" Flores, Jr

1978 Called – It Wants Its Superman Plot Back!

Remember when fanboys wouldn't shut the fuck up about Superman Returns accusing it of being a carbon copy of Richard Donner's Superman: the Movie? It'll be funny as all Hell to see if any of them say decidedly nice things about Zack Snyder's The Man of Steel given said criticisms, judging by what we're seeing out in the open and what we’re hearing about the plot privately.

The Man of Steel Facebook page (who I do like and think are doing a good job, but if that's a 100% fan-run site with zero influence and/or help from Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures, I'll eat a sock!), in yet another round of juicy picture-grabbing, have posted a very spoilerific photo of a certain Kryptonian superhero's adoptive father played by a certain Untouchable Bodyguard.

Yeah...it looks like Pa Kent (Kevin Costner) eats it once again in a big expensive Superman movie. Maybe it's just too expected for this not to happen. Which is stupid logic, but I digress.

I've accepted that we're getting a new origin story for the silver screen...again. The fact of the matter is modern movie-goers haven't gotten one for thirty-three years. But this sounds like it's following in too close a path that Donner, Tom Mankiewicz & the Salkinds already walked and not the "bold and fresh" angle Christopher Nolan was talking up last year before Zack Snyder, Henry Cavill, etc. were hired.

Hell, remember when Latino Review first broke that David Goyer was writing The Man of Steel? Remember what they said about the plot? That it wasn't the origin, all the characters and their respective roles were already established, it'd be heavily influenced by the great mid-80s comic-run by John Byrne and would have Brainiac (and Luthor, of course) as the villain with a B-plot about the Daily Planet financially struggling?

What happened to that plot?
