20th Century Fox has released the trailer for Cameron Crowe's We Bought a Zoo below your viewing pleasure.
It's been six years since Crowe laid a cinematic egg with Elizabethtown. Unfortunately when your trailer features "Embrace your wild side" as one of its tags, lines like "Sellers say we don't even need any special knowledge to run a zoo - what you need is a lot of heart" and "I like the animals but I love the humans" and that (admittedly adorable) little girl as Matt Damon's daughter, Crowe doesn't appear to have shaken off the schmaltz.
Hopefully the final film (due in theaters this Christmas) won't be up its own ass like Crowe's last film was.
Rockstar are amongst the top dogs in the world of video-games, and today as promised they have debuted the trailer for Max Payne 3. It's been quite some time since Max and his noir stylings have been seen, but with Agent 47 also returning it's good to see some oldschool video-game badasses back on consoles.
Max Payne 3 takes Max out of the classic big city setting and transplants hi mm into the cutthroat Brazilian underworld. The game looks incredibly cool with Max's classic slow mo gun play in full effect with the modern technological advances seemingly being taken full advantage of.
Max Payne 3 is due out in the first quarter of 2012 and you can check out the trailer below.
The Daily Planet has found a location and its conveniently inside of Wayne Enterprises. For the upcoming Superman flick, Man of Steel, Chicago's Board of Trade building will be housing the established newspaper which was also the exterior for Wayne Enterprises in The Dark Knight. i09 has a glimpse at a globe replica inside the building. Not sure if this means the one usually seen up top will be absent or if it's just an extra piece for scenes in this area of the building.
We don't know the context by which this scene plays out in the finished film. So it would be immature of us to make fun of these set pictures (courtesy of Celebuzz) showcasing our first look at Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows.
Fortunately none of us here at TMT are mature. So snicker away.
Vulture reports that J.J. Abrams has finally committed to direct Star Trek 2.
In what should come as no surprise to many (even though Abrams had been hesitant to say he was actually "in"), the sequel to 2009's reboot of the beloved sci-fi franchise is said to currently be in the pre-production stage, with the script to be completed by the end of this month and an eye to shoot this winter.
If you may recall, Trek 2 was originally scheduled to be released next summer but was replaced by the new G.I. Joe film. This was mainly due to delays in the film's development (Abrams busy with Super 8, writer Alex Kurtzman finishing his directorial debut, Welcome to People). Yet, it seems all engines are finally ready to go on this one.
Last week, the internet nearly exploded in futuristic joy when it seemed that Marty McFly's 2015 power-laced Nike sneakers seen in Back to the Future Part II had finally become a reality. Turns out that wasn't quite the case, but what it did turn to be was pretty damn awesome nonetheless. What Nike actually did was create 1500 replica pairs of Marty's super-cool Nike Mag sneakers (no power laces yet, but they do light up) and auction them off on ebay, with the net proceeds going right to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. They went on a full-out ad blitz to promote the auction, entitled Back For The Future, which included some promos featuring some old friends:
So how is that auction going? According to We're Going Back's official Facebook page (these are the folks who held the Back to the Future 25th Anniversary event last year), the daily auction totals are as follows:
Day 1: $911,927.34
Day 2: $647,890.90
Day 3: $554,120.31
Day 4: $508,096.50
So that would bring the total in the first four days to an impressive $2,622,035.05. Also, keep in mind that Google co-founder Sergey Brin and his wife Anne Wojcicki are currently matching each donation to the foundation, so that total would be upwards of $5.2 million if the auction ended today.
But the auction hasn't ended yet - it will continue through September 18. So, if you're a mega-Back to the Future fan with an incredible amount of disposable income, make like a tree and head on over to the Back for the Future ebay page to start bidding. And if you're like most of us, who can only admire the shoes from afar, you can still donate to the foundation by going to their official site.
After all, finding a cure for Parkinson's would definitely be way cooler than having a hoverboard.
It may just be two robots fighting each other for 30 secconds, but it was still better than anything in the last two Transformers movies. A new clip of two of the aforementioned boxing robots from Real Steel (NoisyBoy and Midas, and no, I have no idea which one is which) pounding each other in the ring and being cheered on by a seemingly over-caffeinated Hugh Jackman has arrived, and you can check it out below:
Cool. Real Steel opens in theaters on October 7th.
We're almost there, everyone. Twilight's reign of terror on moviegoers everywhere is almost at an end. Not this year, of course...they had to go the Harry Potter route and milk the final chapter by splitting it into two films. But by next year's end, it will all be a distant memory.
Breaking Dawn - Part 1 hits theaters on November 18, and you can check out the trailer below, courtesy of Yahoo Movies:
Wow, I saw a few images there that I've tried to block out of my mind ever since I read the book. Glad to see director Bill Condon has managed to capture it in all of it's badly-written glory.
The finale, Breaking Dawn - Part 2, will open in theaters on November 16, 2012. Just as the Mayans predicted.
Well, this could fit in nicely with the upcoming movie version of Les Miserables.
Probably not, but I would definitely see it anyway. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the now Tony-winning duo of Trey Parker and Matt Stone (along with composer Robert Lopez, also a Tony winner) are indeed planning a movie version of their megahit Broadway musical, The Book of Mormon.
When will that happen? Eh...eventually. According to the EW article, Parker and Stone are content to let the show, which won 9 Tony Awards (including Best Musical) back in June, continue playing to sold out houses in NY for a while longer and tour for a bit before we see a movie. Makes sense, considering tickets for the show are currently sold out well into next year, with the first national tour kicking off in Denver next summer. There's certainly no rush to put out a movie version that's actually easy to get tickets to when people are paying upwards of $300 a ticket to see it now.
But will it work as a movie? That could get interesting. The musical, which is about teenage Mormons who get in way over their heads when they are sent to a war-torn village in Uganda to do their missionary work, was insanely funny. However it's also as foul-mouthed as anything you'd expect to see from South Park's Parker and Stone. For instance, although it's a made-up phrase, the song "Hasa Diga Eebowai" translates to "F*** you, God!" in English, much to the horror of the young missionaries, who originally thought they were learning a new version of "Hakuna Matata". They also eviscerate all forms of organized religion, reference Star Wars characters in ways that even George Lucas couldn't have dreamed of, they set dysentery to music, and the show includes what might be the first (and likely last) time Jesus and Jeffrey Dahmer ever perform onstage together.
So you can see where they might run into a few problems. Yet, to everyone's surprise, the stage version has been a hit with audiences of all ages (hell, even my parents have tickets for it), and, since lightning hasn't struck the theater yet, I'm guessing even God has a sense of humor about those "Hasa Diga Eebowai" t-shirts being sold in the lobby. Believe it or not, The Book of Mormon is actually a very sweet show (seriously, it is!), and it's probably one of the best new musicals I've seen in ages.
We'll check back in a few years to see if the world is ready for a Book of Mormon movie. In the meantime, you can enjoy Andrew Rannells' hilarious Tony performance of "I Believe", which was one of my favorite songs in the show:
