New Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Posters

With the success of the first movie this eagerly anticipated sequel is almost certain be one of the big hits of the Christmas period, especially with Holmes nemesis Moriarty as the main villain.

Yahoo! Movies have debuted two new posters from the movie, one of Holmes and one of Watson. I think the Holmes one is particularly good, even though as someone that has read all of the books, I don't recall Holmes hardly ever using a gun, let alone a Mauser.

Die Hard 5 Will Be Titled A Good Day to Die Hard?

I love this franchise, John McClane is one of my favourite characters and Bruce Wills one of my favourite actors, despite being PG-13 I personally felt Len Wiseman's 'Live Free or Die Hard' was the best of the sequels, but sadly he decided not to come back for another movie and John Moore was recently chosen to take over the directors chair, not a popular choice with myself or most fans.

Now we have a title and news from /film that shines some light on the 5th Die Hard, the release date in particular should set alarm bells off.

Tom Rothman, co-chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fox Filmed Entertainment, appeared on Jim Rome this morning to announce the future of the Die Hard franchise. Apparently Rome is a huge fan of the Die Hard series and somehow scored the exclusive. Details can be found after the jump.

Here is what was revealed:

  • Die Hard 5 will be titled A Good Day to Die Hard
  • Shooting begins in January 2012
  • The sequel will be released on February 14th, 2013 (Valentine’s Day).
  • The story is set in Russia and begins with John McClane heading to Moscow to sweet talk some cops into letting his apparently-wayward son out of jail for something he did, but when he gets there, things surrounding his son’s arrest are not as they appear and world-threatening terrorist hijinks ensue.
  • McClane, Jr. has yet to be cast.
  • They still don’t know if it will be rated PG-13 or R.

Darth Maul Lives!

Regardless of your feelings on the prequel trilogy the one thing most agree on is that the best thing about The Phantom Menace was Sith apprentice Darth Maul, the shot of him with the dual bladed Lightsaber probably ranks as the greatest "Holy shit!" moneyshot in trailer history......and now he's back!

EW.com got the scoop that he will return this Spring in the awesome Clone Wars animated series, below is the video preview for his return.

The above EW articles features comments from Clone Wars supervising director Dave Filoni and theories on how a Darth Maul resurrection may be possible. However neither mention the admittedly non-canon Visionaries story that features Darth Maul with cybernetic legs hunting Obi Wan Kenobi on Tattooine post-Revenge of the Sith, this is the direction I am hoping they go.

Clone Wars - "Nomad Droids" Preview

A preview for this week's new episode of The Clone Wars has surfaced online, courtest of Big Shiny Robot.  In the episode, entitled "Nomad Droids," it appears C-3PO has not yet learned that whole "size matters not" lesson when encountering tiny little creatures.  Threatening R2-D2 as a badass to be reckoned with, however, is still impressive:

The Clone Wars airs Friday nights on the Cartoon Network.

New Lego Harry Potter Trailer

I'm a big fan of the Lego video game series.  Mainly because they're the only video games left that I'm actually fairly decent at.  Heading to stores on November 11 is Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7, which will be released on all of the usual video game platforms.  You can check out a trailer for the new game below:

Cool.  Guess I should finally finish the Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 game I got for the Wii last summer.

Also, for anyone who'd rather ditch the video games and visit the real Hogwarts (sort of), tickets for the official Warner Bros Studio Tour in London are set to go on sale on Thursday.  Tickets can only be purchased online (good luck with that), so check out the details here if you're heading to the UK next year and want to check it out.

Trailer For The Divide

I don't really care for the work of Xavier Gens and the further this goes on the more it slips into the kind of unpleasent looking movie that is not my kind of thing. Which is a shame because when the futuristic military types show up I thought it was heading somewhere it didn't go, and it stars Michael Biehn and Hawaii Five-0 new girl Lauren German, oh well.

The movie opens in January and you can check the trailer out for yourselfves below.

Nine strangers -- all tenants of a New York high rise apartment --escape a nuclear attack by hiding out in the building's bunker-like basement. Trapped for days underground with no hope for rescue, and only unspeakable horrors awaiting them on the other side of the bunker door, the group begins to descend into madness, each turning on one another with physical and psycho-sexual torment.

As supplies dwindle, and tensions flare, and they grow increasingly unhinged by their close quarters and hopelessness, each act against one another becomes more depraved than the next.

While everyone in the bunker allows themselves to be overcome by desperation and lose their humanity, one survivor holds onto a thin chance for escape even with no promise of salvation on the outside.

Nightwing In Arkham City

Arkham City just became even better with the announcement of a Nightwing bundle pack being released on November 1st. He will have his own gadgets and special moves, will be available to play in all the challenge maps, and includes a bonus animated series skin for the character. And because a retail price of $59.99 is such a bargain, this bundle pack will not come cheap with a price tag of $6.99 on the Playstation Network. Even though the extra price is tacked on, it's still worth it because it's Nightwing.

Catwoman Animated Short Clip From Batman: Year One

Catwoman is on the prowl and well endowed in this clip from the animated short being featured on the Batman: Year One home video release. The animation looks like it's following the same style as all the previous animated shorts included on previous DCU animated releases. Batman: Year One will be released on October 18th.

Schwarzenegger Gets a Villian for 'Last Stand'

While making news earlier with this Twitter pic featuring himself, Sylvester Stallone, and Bruce Willis on The Expendables 2 set, Arnold Schwarzenegger seemingly wanted double the headlines today.

Variety reports Eduardo Noreiga (Blackthorn) has been cast as the main villain in the Arnold's comeback action film, Last Stand.

To be helmed by Korean director Kim-Jee Woon (I Saw the Devil) and distributed by Lionsgate, Last Stand tells the story of a small town Sheriff (Schwarzenegger) and his police force who must stop an escaped drug lord (Noreiga) and his army cartel from passing through the U.S.-Mexican border (read below for the film's full synopsis).

Peter Stormare, Rodrigo Santoro, Zach Gilford and Jaimie Alexander also star in the flick, scheduled to be released January 13th, 2013.  Filming begins October 20th in New Mexico.

'Last Stand' marks the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger in his first starring role in over a decade as Sheriff Owens, a man who has resigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction after leaving his LAPD post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with failure and defeat after his partner was crippled. After a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin (Noriega) in the hemisphere is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members.

He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of U.S. law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for one of the most daring face offs in cinema history.

The Avengers Trailer Delivers on Promise of Epic Superhero Team-Up

Three years, four movies and a whole bunch of shoving down our collective throats (not to mention, floods of set pictures the last few months and fan speculation ever since the post-credits coda from Iron Man) and Apple Trailers has the trailer for Marvel's The Avengers for your viewing pleasure. Check it out at the link or below.

On the simple promise of seeing superheroes together in the same room fighting off baddies (the implicationalthough not specified is an alien invasion involving Tom Hiddleston's Loki), it delivers and as usual Robert Downey Jr. has the best zingers. Plus we get to see how the silver screen's third iteration of Bruce Banner/the Hulk (aka Marc Ruffalo) looks. Spoiler alert: he's green and angry.

But I'm leaning towards the "Eh..." side with this trailer. It's OK over all. Nothing Earth-shattering, but prepare for all the nerdgasming you're going to have to endure today from the online community.
