James Franco Joins Rise Of the Apes

James Franco known mostly for his role in the Spider-Man franchise, and being Seth Rogens stoner buddy in Pineapple Express, will be the first actual person to be cast in  the Planet of The Apes remake Rise of The Apes, which is scheduled to start filming on July 5 for its planned June 24, 2011 release date.

As previously reported the apes in the remake will be CGI, so obviously we know Franco won't be wearing any make-up or fur, in fact he's playing a human, essentially a scientist who is pivotal in the war between the humans and the apes. It's safe to say we can expect a lot more casting announced in the next few weeks leading to the start of filming.

I'm not completely ecstatic about the remake, but at least it sounds a lot more promising then War Monkeys which was announced yesterday.
