Epic Banners For The Dark Knight Rises

Four banners for The Dark Knight Rises are up, courtesy of Coming Soon.

Hope you're prepared to do nothing but wait for the Batman threequel from here on out. The scale on display is so epic you feel bad for whoever follows in Christopher Nolan's footsteps. They really weren't kidding when they called this a war movie!

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Red-Band Trailer

Still haven't reached that "Eureka!" moment for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Nothing we've seen has convinced me, or the multitudes laughing its trailers off the screen, this isn't one of Hollywood's dumber purchases.

While we wait for something appealing (For those of us whose tastes mature past age fourteen and whatever looks "cool"), IGN Movies has a new red-band trailer for your viewing pleasure:

Oh...No, Joe! G.I. Joe: Retaliation Delayed to 2013!

EXCLUSIVE UPDATE: Dwayne Johnson confirmed on his Twitter page new scenes being cook up to enhance the 3D. Fair enough. But we're hearing reshoots are already underway back down in New Orleans. In fact, said additional photography was going down before Paramount announced the release date shift yesterday afternoon.

Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis were front and center for all the promos. Trailers met with positive reactions. From the look of things, G.I. Joe: Retaliation could be one of the surprise hits of this summer.

That is until this bomb dropped. It's moving from June 29 to March 2013, just over a month before its release. Getting a 3D post-conversion cash-grab done on it too. In the time between now and then, expect to see reports of reshoots. Because it's that obvious the sequel's a shit-bag with such a zero-hour call.

A move like this can't be spun in a positive light. Though you know Paramount will try their damnedest.

Gary Oldman Joins Robocop Remake

One of those "Pinch me!" moments when the reality settles in. There really is a Robocop remake getting made. No leisurely pitch meetings, MGM bled financially dry or Darren Aronofsky joining then leaving, you'll be able to watch a new movie for $10-$20 (You know it'll be 3D) next August. Jose Padilha is directing and Joel Kinnanman, of the clearly-on-its-way-towards-cancellation The Killing, will follow Prime Directives as the new Robo/Alex Murphy.

Coming our way from our pals at the geek-themed Heat Vision is a new casting tidbit. Gary Oldman joins the production playing Norton described as "the scientist who creates Robocop and finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation."

Interesting trend as of late we're witnessing. Actors going for multiple franchises to pay the bills. Guess Gary couldn't wait for Warner Brothers to greenlight The Adventures of Gordon & Flass prequel?

Pacific Rim Official Plot Synopsis

A first impression at Pacific Rim is a challenge since not a morsel has found its way to our airwaves. Only thing making our way is a year-old Comic-Con banner and the promises of giant robots fighting giant monsters in the future.

For his sake, I hope Guillermo del Toro scores a big hit here. His talent is undeniable. Just hasn't had the best luck breaking out. It could have happened, mind you, had he taken plum gigs like The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe or Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban. But his heart was always with the monsters, and you have to respect that determination.

Market Saw has the official plot synopsis:

"From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ epic sci-fi action adventure 'Pacific Rim.’

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Oscar® nominee Guillermo del Toro ('Pan's Labyrinth') is directing 'Pacific Rim' from a script by Travis Beacham ('Clash of the Titans'). Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Mary Parent are producing, with Callum Greene serving as executive producer.

The film stars Charlie Hunnam (TV's 'Sons of Anarchy'), Idris Elba ('Thor'), Rinko Kikuchi ('The Brothers Bloom’), Charlie Day ('Horrible Bosses'), and Ron Perlman (the 'Hellboy' films). The ensemble cast also includes Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke."

It will have to do until Comic-Con where we’re expected to get our first glimpse at footage.

The Dark Knight Rises on Primetime TV

The coming storm Selina Kyle was referring to was the marketing blitz for The Dark Knight Rises, the same campaign many were bitching, in the wake of The Avengers, Warner Brothers wasn't putting forth any effort.

For casual television watchers tonight came the first two TV spots for Christopher Nolan's epic Batman finale during the finales of American Idol and Modern Family:

The Great Gatsby Trailer is Baz Luhrmann at His Luhrmanniest

For those hoping Baz Luhrmann wouldn't be so, well, Bazz Luhrmann this time with The Great Gatsby, prepare to be disappointed. The trailer is up and this oozes Luhrmann beginning to end. Some of you will love that.

Still scratching my head about the 3D. They think that's going to get the kids flocking into theaters on Christmas?

Exclusive: First Addition to Catching Fire Cast Could Be...Robert Pattinson?

The buzz word used for The Hunger Games for the longest time was "the next Twilight." Leading up to its March release, those with little knowledge of Suzanne Collins' literary trilogy always played the Twilight card due to their lack of comparison. Some used Battle Royale too but the emo-teenage vampires and werewolves were overwhelmingly the reference point. Since the $152 million 3-day opening monster it became (Notice it hasn’t left the Top 10 yet!), said comparisons ceased. Judging by this development, perhaps Lionsgate doesn't want them to end?

TMT received a tip the studio is chasing Robert Pattinson to join the cast of Catching Fire, the sequel Francis Lawrence is taking over after helmer Gary Ross' high-profile departure, as Finnick Odair. So yeah that would make it a Water for Elephants reunion, huh?

Finnick was the one of the competition's youngest champions, at fourteen, having won the 65th annual Hunger Games for District 4. By the time we get into Catching Fire, he's in his mid-twenties and joins the Third Quarter Quell, a Hunger Games competition consisting of former winners. Described as quiet the ladies man, we're not talking Edward Cullen.

This does go against the kind of roles Pattinson has taken so far (non-studio fare like the afore-mentioned Water for Elephants, Remember Me, David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis). Or perhaps he's thinking he needs a second bread-earner franchise as Twilight draws to an end not unlike co-star Kristen Stewart in Snow White & the Huntsman.

Weird mentality on Lionsgate's part since this is the kind of cross-branding not necessary for something as huge as The Hunger Games. That is in the event Pattinson actually gets cast.

New Dark Knight Rises Poster – Bad Photoshop Will Rise

First thing from the Warner Brothers marketing department I'm shaking my head at for The Dark Knight Rises. Last two one-sheets were great. This, via its official Facebook, is a character-themed one-sheet focusing on Bats himself.

Hope the inevitable Catwoman, Bane, Alfred, Lucius and "John Blake" ones are better. Can't bat a thousand, I guess.
