    "Jonah Hex" Trailer

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the trailer for Jonah Hex, opening in theaters on June 18. You can watch the trailer using the player below!

In the Jimmy Hayward-directed film, Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone... and anything. Having survived death, Jonah's violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the "other side." His only human connection is with Leila (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. But Jonah's past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can't refuse: in exchange for his freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich). But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah's oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead. Based on the legendary graphic novel, "Jonah Hex" is an epic adventure thriller about one man's personal quest for redemption against the vast canvas of the battle between good and evil.Warner Bros. I actually saw this on the big screen last night in front of Nightmare On Elm Street. It doesn't look amazing, but for all the shit we've been hearing about it, I was expecting something a lot worse.

This "could" turn out okay, maybe, we'll see. I wouldn't hold your breath for anything either.

Check back to TMT in June for official review.

    Fox Developing "Commando" remake

Ironically enough right after Fox finished the Predators remake another Schwarzenegger film of the 80's will be getting the remake treatment, 20th Century Fox has hired David Ayer to write and direct a reboot of the 1985 film that became one of the building blocks that transformed Arnold Schwarzenegger from bodybuilder to superstar. Erwin Stoff and John Davis will produce the new version.

Ayer is the former Navy soldier who wrote Training Day and moved into directing with Harsh Times and Street Kings.

He will put his own real-world spin on this original premise:

a retired elite special forces operative sees his daughter kidnapped and is told she’ll die unless he gets on a plane and kills the rival of a nasty exiled dictator. In the original, Schwarzenegger jumped off the plane before takeoff, and killed everyone involved in the kidnap plot.

Ayer’s protagonist will be less brawny, but more skilled in covert tactics and weaponry. This kind of sucks. I think a big part of "Commando" and all of Schwarzenegger's films from the 80's was the huge intimidating force he brought to the screen. Having Adrien Brody take over in his shoes in Predator seemed ridiculous enough, and now you want to do basically the same thing again, but this time with Commando?

Come on Fox, your better then this. At least I thought you were.

Cast Dwayne Johnson, he'd be great in that kind of role, and what better time then right now. While he's currently re-entering the action bad ass genre with three of his next projects, Commando would be a perfect fit.

    Sony Talks Spider-Man Reboot

In a recent article in The Hollywood Reporter about Video a Games being adapted for movies, Columbia Pictures president Matt Tolmach briefly addressed the upcoming Spider-Man reboot:

He also cautioned that moviemakers are in "a golden moment of technology," with 3D and various other digital techniques at their disposal. "With great power comes great responsibility, and we have to always fall back on great storytelling," he said.

Tolmach also said he's excited but nervous about his company's upcoming Spider-man reboot, which he described as "Peter Parker told differently." He promised it will look, feel and smell different from the three films starring Tobey Maguire.

"We're humbled by it," he said.

It was only slightly cheesy when he actually quoted Spider-Man, while being asked about the reboot, right? I hope this means they plan to actually shoot the 3D sequences if not all of the movie in actual 3D, not just converting to garbage like Warner Bros did with their recent mess Clash Of  The Titans.

From his comments of "its Peter Parker told differently", I get the impression that we're getting more of a teen drama and less of a Spider-Man film filled with action. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a little bit of story thrown in between the action as well, but why make Spider-Man especially in 3D, if all your doing is looking at Parker in a new light?

Hopefully something good comes out of this, I want to like the reboot, but everything I'm hearing about it sounds so far sounds terrible.

J.J. Abrams Teaming up with Spielberg?

Vulture reports that J.J. Abrams will next direct a project that will be "both a tribute to and a collaboration with Steven Spielberg." According to the site, the script is a "a tip of the hat to [Spielberg's] movies of the 70's and early 80's."

If the project moves forward, Abrams would direct from his own script starting early fall for Paramount Pictures.

The project reportedly "will deal with everyday people whose personal relationships are tested when they are thrown up against extraordinarily fantastic - and possibly other-worldly - events."

The movie is expected to have a low budget, but won't have shaky cam like Cloverfield.

Is this his next film before starting work on Start Trek 2? I would have figured he'd stay clear of "other worldly" events and what not before heading back into space for the Trek sequel.

At any rate, working with Steven Spielberg should be amazing, even with a low budget I'm expecting this to be very cool.

"clash of the titans 2" in 2012

It looks like the Titans remake will be getting the sequel treatment, why, I don't know. The remake itself was very "meh", but Warner Bros seems to be intent on continuing the franchise anyways as per IESB.

Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures are gearing up for a follow-up. Greg Berlanti (screenwriter/producer on Green Lantern and potential director for The Flash) is working on the story.

Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Gemma Arterton and Ralph Fiennes are all expected to return. The same can't be said for Louie Leterrier who won't return to direct. He will serve as an executive producer. Thank god, if we are getting a follow up a new director couldn't hurt.

WB/Legendary are aiming to have the Titans sequel in theatres by Spring 2012.

If they plan to have the sequel released in 3D as well, hopefully they'll decide to shoot in 3D this time, as opposed to the shitty job they did of post converting the current remake.

    Bill Murray Talks 'ghostbusters 3'

For the last couple years Sony has been talking about a "Ghostbuster 3" movie being made. Supposedly the only thing holding the production back was Bill Murray. Sony hired two of the writers from "the office" to pen the script, and got Ivan Reitman along with the entire original cast to agree to coming back, that is all except for Bill Murray.

Then in March, Murray, who had long been balking at doing a third movie, appeared on "The David Letterman Show" and claimed that the thought of a third movie is his "nightmare" and is just "crazy talk."

At the press day for Aaron Schneider's Get Low, ComingSoon asked about the statements Murray made on the Letterman show to which we got an equally enigmatic answer:

"You know, it’s really the studio starts this stuff," he told us. "They start saying 'Ghostbusters.' They want to do (it) and it’s really the world of sequels and bringing these things back again, and then some wiseacre said, 'Hey, we got a couple of new writers who are gonna write something.' And I thought, 'Oh, well, maybe there’ll be some writers' and there was always this joke, sort of a half-true, half-joke thing like, 'Well, I’ll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.' That was my joke, you know? So supposedly someone was writing a script where I actually got killed in the first reel and became a ghost, which I thought, 'Well, that’s kind of clever anyway.' But then these guys that were supposedly the writers that were going to do it, they wrote a film that came out and people saw the film* and went … 'We’re not going to do it after all, are we?' So it’s just a kind of a dreamy thing. They want to create a new generation of Ghostbusters, you know? They’d just like us to pass the torch."

When asked to clarify whether making the movie really would be a "nightmare," Bill Murray told us this, "Well, it’s true, but we made a great movie and then we made another one, you know? So we went to the well twice and it’s almost impossible to do the second movie as well. Only horror movies get better as they go along because they have more money to spend for more crazy effects. I actually thought the other day--it’s just become so irritating--but I actually heard people like, young people that really [heard] of the movie when they were kids and I thought, 'You know, maybe I should just do it. Maybe it’d be fun to do.' Because the guys are funny and I miss [Rick] Moranis and Annie [Potts] and Danny. Those people are some people that were really, you know, I miss them. I think that’s really a big part of it."

I personally want to see this movie get made. There have been rumors of the Apatow gang taking over the franchise from the original cast, this could work, or they could just put an end the trilogy that we havne't seen or heard from in 21 years, just bring back the original cast for one more, and then you can re-boot it, remake it, or whatever you want hollywood.

"how to train your dragon 2" in 2013

DreamWorks Animation announced today as part of its First Quarter financial results that a sequel to How to Train Your Dragon will hit theaters in 2013.

"2010 is off to a strong start, thanks in large part to the performance of 'How to Train Your Dragon,' which – having grossed nearly $375 million to date in worldwide box office – has become DreamWorks Animation's next franchise. We plan to release the sequel theatrically in 2013," said Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation. "3D continues to have a tremendous impact on the industry at large and we are now looking forward with great anticipation to bringing 'Shrek Forever After,' the final chapter in our beloved 'Shrek' series and the first in 3D, to audiences across the globe next month."

How to Train Your Dragon, which was released on March 26, 2010, contributed $59.7 million of revenue to the quarter for the company, driven primarily by merchandising and licensing activities. It has reached approximately $180 million in domestic box office and approximately $195 million in international box office to date.

    'Inception' Viral Marketing

With the July release of Chris Nolan's Inception becoming closer, it should come as no surprise we'll be getting Viral Marketing the newest trend in Marketing. As seen with Nolan's last film The Dark Knight, the Viral Marketing is a proven and successful tool.

Below is a video intended to appear as Nolan's research for dreams, ideas and theories he would use to include in the plot of Inception.

From what I can put together, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page and Joseph Gordon-Levitt all work for a company that either protects crooks from stealing your ideas in your dreams OR they actually are the crooks stealing ideas from people's dreams.

    Here's the official synopsis:

The film follows an agent named Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) who can drug up tycoons and enter their minds to find out their secrets and strategies. Cobb then uses the secrets to sell to the highest competing bidder. However, the mind is a volatile place, where places can rearrange and people can have power much stronger than in reality, and the complications of the mind can create dreamscapes that can end in mere seconds, trapping the agents with them. After a heist gone wrong, Dom and his team (Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page) become under attack by a CEO (Ken Watanabe) looking to use the technology for his own singular greed.

The tag line for the film is "your mind is the scene of the crime".

If you didn't see it already, here's the official trailer as well:

Inception is set to be released on July 16, 2010

    Paramount Developing 'The Ring 3D'

Heat Vision is reporting that Paramount Pictures is developing a third installment "The Ring" franchise to be titled Ring 3D.

The new film will be written by David Loucka, who wrote the upcoming Dream House and House at the End of the Street.

Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are in negotiations to return as producers, and Vertigo and Benderspink are executive producing.

The first installment, directed by Gore Verbinski (the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films) and starring Naomi Watts, earned an impressive $249.3 million worldwide in 2002. Watts reprised her role in director Hideo Nakata's The Ring Two, which made $161.5 million in 2005.

According to the trade, "the new film is being fashioned as more teen-centric than the first, and though the logline is being kept under wraps, the aim is to reinvent the franchise."

What do you think, will the ring still be relevant after what's already been a five year hiatus from the sequel? Or is that why they've decided to make it more "teen-centric". This must mean that Samara from the first two films will be crawling out of cell phone screens as opposed to TV's?

Hollywood is in desperate need of more new original ideas. I'd be willing to bet in a few years we'll be getting a remake or reboot to this same franchise.
