Not seen regularly on the small screen since her iconic run as cult favourite Buffy Summers in Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar is back this fall in a new psychological thriller called "Ringer" on the CW.
At the SDCC panel for the show this new trailer was shown. Personally I think it looks great, but given the CW's type of output will this episodic drama find an audience on the network?
Comingsoon.net via Lucasfilm have released a look at some of the deleted scenes from the upcoming Blu Ray release of the Star Wars saga. These were shown at SDCC and are from the original trilogy.
Unfortunately it looks like they haven't been remastered or put back into the film which is a shame and a missed opportunity in my view.
I'm personally looking forward to Len Wiseman's new version of Phillip K Dick's Total Recall. for me he made the best of the Die Hard sequels and I've been looking forward to seeing what he does next. Obviously there is some skepticism as the old Arnie version is well loved, but I think this will be more of a sci fi espionage movie, a futuristic Bourne if you like, than the shlocky ultra violent actioner of 1990.
I'm not sure what other presence Total Recall will have at SDCC if any but Comingsoon.Net has gotten hold of these pics that showcase the futuristic police force from the film, that are no doubt chasing Colin Farrell's Quaid.
I think the designs are fantastic, the car has a bit of Blade Runner influence and the armoured suits have a modernized Storm Trooper look to them. Check out a couple of pics below and go to the link to see the rest.
We are just under a week out from the release of Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger" and Hitfix have an exclusive new poster for the Joe Johnston director comic book movie.
Personally I love the poster, it feels like a throwback to the Dru Struzan posters for Indy and Star Wars, and I'd say Cap is looking the best of this summer comic book movies, however it faces a tough task as it opens against the second weekend of the final Harry Potter juggernaut.
The first teaser poster for the highly anticipated Nolan film "The Dark Knight Rises" has made it's way online. Is it me or is there a little bit of leftover "Inception" on this poster? Not much more to say, it has begun! The teaser trailer is on the way later this week with "Harry Potter".
Opening in theaters on July 20, 2012, the film stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Nestor Carbonell, Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, Joey King, Brett Cullen, Chris Ellis and Josh Stewart.
Wow! Mission: Impossible is one my favourite franchises and the trailer for the latest installment Ghost Protocol looks incredible. Some have moaned about the use of the Eminem song but I feel it fits well with the beats of the trailer, and saving the MI theme for a brief bar at the end plays well.
The film looks a touch darker than the others and seems to involve the team aspect strongly again, as it did in the 3rd movie. Only all members of the team are in peril here not just them helping Ethan out with his troubles, and it's blended with some amazing looking action. There is an impact and spectacular quality to the in camera stunt action Brad Bird and his team have captured, the scope of an international spy movie is very evident as well, colour me very excited.
Collider and Comingsoon.Net have the lowdown on the latest cast additions to Len Wiseman's 'Total Recall' adaption starring Colin Farrell and Bryan Cranston. John Cho and Bill Nighy have joined the cast, the latter as Quatto, leader of the resistance, although I am guessing he wont appear as part of someone's belly this time around.
The big casting news was on the female front, with both female leads cast. The director's stunning wife Kate Beckinsale has been cast as Lori, the wife of Colin Farrell's Quaid, played by Sharon Stone to arousing effect in the Verhoeven version. The other casting is Jessica Biel as Melina, who was a soldier in the resistence and girlfriend of Quaid's in his other life.
The plot has had a bit of an overhaul with no Mars this time around, instead Cohaagen (Cranston) is planning to invade New Shanghai under the guise of protecting his people. I cans see there being some heavy Blade Runner influence in the depiction of New Shanghai.
'Total Recall' opens August 3rd, 2012 and filming starts Monday in Toronto.
Comingsoon.Net have the debut poster for the Hugh Jackman robot boxing flick 'Real Steel'. Directed by Shawn Levy and co-starring LOST Goddess Evangeline Lilly.
The film centers on a down on his luck fighter (Jackman) in a future where human boxing is outlawed, who builds and trains a robot with his estranged son to compete in robot boxing competitions.
The poster surprisingly doesn't feature Jackman, but is still pretty cool.
There was great excitement in the geek community when it came to the announcement that JJ Abrams and Jonah Nolan were collaborating on a TV show together, and now we have a first look at what they have been up to.
PERSON OF INTEREST stars Jim Caviezel, Emmy Award winner Michael Emerson and Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson in a crime thriller about a presumed dead former-CIA agent who teams up with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes by using their own brand of vigilante justice.
Reese's (Caviezel) special training in covert operations appeals to Finch (Emerson), a software genius who invented a program that uses pattern recognition to identify people about to be involved in violent crimes. Using state-of-the-art surveillance technology, the two work outside of the law using Reese's adept skills and Finch's unlimited wealth to unravel the mystery of the person of interest and stop the crime before it happens.
Reese's actions catch the attention of the NYPD, including homicide detective Carter (Henson), and Fusco (Kevin Chapman), a cop who Reese uses to his advantage. With infinite crimes to investigate, Reese and Finch find that the right person, with the right information, at the right time, can change everything.
The show is a high tech thriller that comes off like a cross between Minority Report and The Equalizer, which pleases me very much. It will debut on Thursday nights on CBS this Fall.
It's been a busy night when it comes to promos for forthcoming TV shows, so lets jump straight in!
First up is Alcatraz from JJ Abrams, now this one actually almost didn't get picked up but judging from the trailer it looks like it could be really cool, kind of has a LOST meets Fringe vibe.
Next up is The Finder, which is a spin off from Bones, the title is admittedly a turd but the show looks like fun and Fox will be desperately hoping this will see a heavy run over of Bones fans.
Terra Nova carries big expectations due to the involvement of Steven Spielberg, the promo features the same closing moneyshot that is in the two prior promos for this, basically coming off as Lost World the TV show..
From NBC we have a promo for The Playboy Club, a show that looks slick and like it belongs on cable, the period setting is sweet but I don't see this being a big hit.
Grimm is the latest from the Buffy and Angel team sans Joss Whedon, I didn't really have any interest until I saw the trailer but it may just catch on, however the premise has an equal chance of growing old fast, it definitely carries the Buffy vibe.
Last but not least we have the promo for the US remake of Prime Suspect starring Maria Bello. I never watched the original so I can't compare, but the central theme of a tough woman in a man's job seems a bit redundant at this point, where it was fresh back in the Helen Mirren original. I also wonder if they are going to boil the cases down to one episode for the ADD audience.
