It's All Greek To Warner Bros.

Warner Bros and Legendary pictures have announced that the remake of "Clash of the Titans" will commence filming just outside London on April 27th, and move to Wales and the Spanish Canary Islands later in production. Liam Neeson, Sam Worthington, and Ralph Fiennes headline the re-imagining of the 1981 original and Louis Leterrier is set to direct.

In “Clash of the Titans,” the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

Continuing their obsession with men in sandals, Warner Bros also won a bidding war for an "Odysseus" spec script written by Ann Peacock. The script has director Jonathan Liebsman attached and Hollywood Gang Prods' Gianni Nunnari will produce.

The story centers on the legendary hero Odysseus, famed king of Ithaca, who returns to his island after 20 years of fighting the Trojan Wars, only to find his kingdom under the brutal occupation of an invading force. Odysseus single-handedly defeats every last man and takes back his wife, his son and his kingdom.

Warner Bros sure has an affinity for Ancient Greek culture, the acquisition of "Odysseus" and principal photography starting on "Clash of the Titans" isn't their first venture down this dirt road. The very successful "300" already had Warner Bros thinking seeing green and thinking Greek. With Warner's moving on "Clash of the Titans" and fast tracking "Odysseus", it is even more unlikely that Relativity Media's "War of the Gods" will see the light of day.

From The Blog of Dylan Dog

I don't know about you but I'm sure looking forward to Platinum Studios' "Dead Of Night". I think it is a great chance for Brandon Routh to take off that heavy red cape and replace it with Dylan Dog's jet black jacket. I'm interested in what Kevin Munroe does with the source material and how he transitions from the animated adventure "TMNT" to the "horror noir" that is the world of Dylan Dog.

I'm sure my questions will be answered sooner rather then later now that the "The Official Dead Of Night Production Blog" has started to pick up some steam. Development Executive Dan Forcey has teased us with a photo update from the set of "Dead of Night" The photo features stunt man Mike Massa, Brandon Routh's doppelganger, leaning against a VW Bug that is conveniently covered. See the above photo.

Check back with TMT for more "Dead of Night" updates and head over to the official blog of "Dead of Night" to read more of Dan Forcey's informational updates and reflections live from the set.

Taking A 'Wrong Turn' With 'Little Shop' Remake

I quickly got over the shock that there was actually a "Wrong Turn 3" coming out, I didn't even know there was a "Wrong Turn 2", when I read that Declan O'Brien is planning on remaking "The Little Shop of Horrors". I know remakes are the new "crutch" that Hollywood is now leaning on, but Roger Corman's "The Little Shop of Horros" was already remade. In 1986 director Frank Oz took at stab at the musical with "Little Shop of Horrors" starring Rick Moranis and Steve Martin. O'brien won't be remaking the remake according to Bloody Disgusting:

While chatting with Declan O'Brien about his forthcoming direct-to-video effort Wrong Turn 3, he revealed exclusively to Bloody-Disgusting that he just optioned the rights to Roger Corman's classic The Little Shop of Horrors! “Actually its been a busy time for me. I just optioned Roger Corman’s 'The Little Shop of Horror', which Im setting up as a big studio remake," he tells B-D this morning. "We're in the process of talking to studios this week. It will be a remake of Roger’s original 1960’s movie. I don’t want to reveal too much, but it’s me, it’ll be dark," he explains. "It wont be a musical." In the original a clumsy young man nurtures a plant and discovers that it's a bloodthirsty plant, forcing him to kill to feed it.

So in conclusion Declan O'brien plans on remaking a movie that has already been remade but is not remaking the remake, instead he is remaking the original. Got it?

Bizzaro Return For Superman To The Big Screen?

*Article courtesy of Rob Hunter and our "sister site" www.supermanlives.net

Superman...the name still equates headlines, sure the big blue boyscout has lost some ground on his cooler contemparies like Batman, Spider-Man and Iron Man as relates to the main stream, but any mention of news on a new Superman movie generates talk among fans of the comic book genre and a headline on any movie site worth it's salt.

The big talk these days is of where the movie franchise goes next after the underperforming Superman Returns. Terms such as reboot and reinvention have been thrown around with the occasional mention of the word sequel, all of which has been covered by our very own Peter Georgiou, so how about a totally left field approach ?

That is the basis for the spec script by Robert Gordon, the writer of sci fi comedies 'Men In Black 2' and 'Galaxy Quest'.
Latino Review have a script review of his spec which sees Bizarro as the lead character for much of the movie while Supes is off again in space doing the hero thing, there is an initial big battle between the two that Superman wins, sending Bizarro's "lifeless" body to the bottom of the Aegean sea, but from here the story leaps forward ten years and pretty much takes out the key ingredient of Clark/Superman and Lois Lane's relationship, replacing it with a Frankenstein-esque plot that sees Zod and Ursa bringing Bizarro back from the depths and using him to manipulate the US government, into giving them the chamber from Superman 2 that will restore their powers so they can take over the Earth, how the government have the chamber I don't know.

The script is described as comedic and the way Zod and Ursua use Bizarro is seemingly to set him off to attempt to help people but he is so clumsy he fails and ends up causing more damage and havoc than he prevents...high jinks ensue I guess, their bargaining chip is that they have blue kryptonite which is the only thing that can kill Bizarro (Yes I have no idea why he lay on the bottom of the Ocean for ten years if he wasn't dead either) and will use it to do so if the government give them the aforementioned chamber. Bizarro of course is an unwitting pawn who thinks he is doing good and will eventually realize he has been duped and turn on his manipulators.

I am a big fan of Galaxy Quest so I respect the writer, but I for one hope this is not an approach Warner Brothers even think of going when they get around to putting Superman back on the big screen.
