    Russell Brand as Arthur

The first shot of a Beardless Russell Brand as Arthur has surfaced online. The film is currently under production is New York City. For those unaware this a remake of the 1981 comedy of the same name.

The new version follows a very rich, happy drunk who is told by his mother that he must marry the wealthy girl of her choosing or else lose his inheritance, just as he meets a poor girl and falls in love.

Also just last week The Batmobile from Batman Forever was spotted being dropped off to the New York set. Does this mean that Batman will have a cameo or more likely that Arthur will for some reason be driving the batmobile. No idea, but I am interested to see if Brand can do the classic justice.

And for anyone who missed it Crashing Hollywood was lucky enough to have Brand on their podcast very briefly. You can check that out Here.

    Green Lantern On Set Video!

New Orleans ABC 26 News was lucky enough to visit the set for next summers Green Lantern. They spoke to a PR rep for the film, and caught a glimpse of wait for it... a group of extras cheering for a scene at the airport, yay! Unfortunately nothing new was actually revealed in the video, but you do get a look at the sets they're using at the New Orleans Lakefront airport.

For a better look at the Ferris Aircraft headquarters set at the airport you can go HERE.

    batman 3 shooting in April!

It looks like Batman 3 starts shooting next April, not March like previously reported. Same difference if you ask me, but meh.

Michael Caine the man who always seems to inadvertently blab information in his interviews, revealed to digital spy in a brief interview on the red carpet for Inception, that Batman 3 would in fact start shooting in April. No one should be surprised by this, but for the diehards its something for now.

    here's the video:

New Trailer 'Welcome to the Rileys'

The first trailer has been released for indie film Welcome to the Rileys directed by Ridley Scottt's son Jake, and starring James Gandolfini. The film screened at this years sundance film festival to rave reviews where director Scott also received a Grand Jury Prize nomination for Most Dramatic Film.

It was originally picked up by apparition, but due to some restructuring within their hierarchy the project was moved to Samuel Goldwyn. Apparition had the film set up for a November 5 release, and it appears Samuel Goldwyn plans to keep it there.

Since the death of his daughter, Doug Riley (James Gandolfini) begins to commit adultery with a waitress named Vivian, while his wife Lois (Melissa Leo) withholds a secret about their daughter Emily's death. From this guilt, she never ventures outside her house. When Vivian dies, Doug is devastated. In New Orleans' French Quarter, Doug finds himself in a strip club when he meets a sixteen year old prostitute named Mallory (Kristen Stewart). Doug calls Lois to inform her he will not be returning home. Lois finally leaves her house to reunite with Doug. When she arrives, she is horrified, but is also taken by Mallory's unusual resemblance to Emily. Lois proceeds to move in. But Mallory does not wish to give up her life as a prostitute.

    New trailer 'Machete'

Fox has released the new trailer for the Robert Rodriguez flick Machete. It was to be expected after the release of all the posters yesterday.

Machete is based on the "fake" trailer in Rodriguez's 2007 Grindhouse. The feature version of the trailer finds Machete (Trejo) a renegade former Mexican Federale, roaming the streets of Texas after a shakedown from drug lord Torrez (Seagal). Reluctantly, Machete takes an offer from spin doctor Benz (Fahey) to assassinate McLaughlin (De Niro) a corrupt Senator. Double crossed and on the run Machete braves the odds with the help of Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), a saucy taco slinger, Padre (Marin) his "holy" brother, and April (Lohan) a socialite with a penchant for guns. All while being tracked by Sartana (Alba), a sexy ICE agent with a special interest in the blade slinger.

I can't tell if this is supposed to ridiculously awesome, hilarious, or down right stupid. Maybe all of the above. Either way I'm not expecting much out of this.

New Teaser Trailer for The Social Network

Yet another teaser trailer has come online for The Social Network aka that facebook movie. In the last trailer no actual footage was revealed, it consisted mainly only of a voice over and the tag line "you don't get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies".  I'll admit even with out actually revealing much of anything the trailer got me interested, and it got other people talking too. In this second teaser trailer they take somewhat of a similar approach, and again are able to garner even more interest with revealing little to nothing once again. Check out the video for yourself below.

On a fall night in 2003, Harvard undergrad and computer programming genius Mark Zuckerberg sits down at his computer and heatedly begins working on a new idea. In a fury of blogging and programming, what begins in his dorm room soon becomes a global social network and a revolution in communication. A mere six years and 500 million friends later, Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire in history... but for this entrepreneur, success leads to both personal and legal complications. From director David Fincher and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin comes The Social Network, a film that proves you don't get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies. The film is produced by Scott Rudin, Dana Brunetti, Michael De Luca, and Ceán Chaffin and based on the book "The Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich.

Superman V... What Could Have Been

Originally Posted On Our Sister Site: supermanlives.net

For most fans of the Superman franchise we like to act like the third and fourth sequels never happened. For us everything ended after Superman II. But what if they had actually made Superman V. The plan was to restore the icon to his proper status and rejuvenate the franchise. They intended to skip over the third and fourth installments, and basically pick up where we left off from the end of the second film. Somewhat like a reboot, but only going back mid-way through the series.

Comic book writer Cary Bates wrote a treatment and then a draft for what would have been Superman V: Superman Reborn with Christopher reeve set to reprise the role. Bates recently spoke to Newsarama, and shared what his vision for the man of steel could have been:

"The intent was to leapfrog over Superman III and especially IV, and return the series to the high mark achieved in 1 and 2,"

"[It was] our desire to do a fully developed, balls-out science fiction story pitting Superman and Brainiac against each other mano a mano. The premise involved a new take on the whole Brainiac-Kandor portion of the Superman mythos."

There plans was to basically do a retelling of the first classic Brainiac story from the comics, and give Superman an opponent to pose a real threat.

"[Brainiac] comes to Earth for the first time and shrinks Metropolis, adding it to his interplanetary collection of miniaturized cities, But because he becomes aware of the unique super-powered being in his latest acquisition, Brainiac miniaturizes himself and ventures into the bottled Metropolis in person. This leads to a knock-down drag-out battle that ends in what appears to be Superman’s death."

The idea for Superman's death on film came long before the hugely popular death of Superman in comics, which also dealt with a similar rebirth scenario for the character, but with a slightly different take on what happened after the fact.

"A split-second before his atoms would’ve been permanently disintegrated, they are sucked into a bottle-city a few rows over... Kandor, there he is 'reborn' as a mortal man, where he gets to reconnect with his Kryptonian roots as he begins the arduous process of rehabilitating himself and eventually escaping from Kandor to resume his battle with Brainiac."

The Brainiac intended to appear in Superman V was a combination of the green skinned alien and the robot version that had both appeared in the comics over the span of over 30 years, from the 50's right up until the 80's.

"While this two-tier approach to Brainiac proved to be an extremely important component to the plot, the original reason was much more pragmatic, Our Brainiac had to be human much of time, or the producers would’ve faced the dilemma of throwing away big bucks to hire a big-name actor who would be reduced to an unseen voice-over artist for a mechanical or CGI robot."

Thankfully it's probably a good thing this wasn't made. The draft released online wasn't anywhere near as awesome as it sounds in bates descriptions of the story, and the visual effects in the early 90's that would be needed to achieve a lot of what they wanted to do would look cheesy and fake. Even still I have to wonder would have come of the franchise had we seen an on screen interpretation of Brainiac, and a film that rejuvenated the franchise. Would we have still received the sequel/reboot Superman returns from Singer, who knows.

The fact they had plans to develop Brainiac for the big screen once before makes me optimistic to think that Goyer and Nolan may have gone down a similar path. That's something I know myself and a number of other fans could easily get behind. After all do we really to see Superman get his ass kicked by Kevin Spacey again, and then fly of with an island? No, we need to see a battle of epic proportions!

Avatar Coming back to theaters... In surprise 3D

Not that anyone is actually shocked by this or wasn't already expecting it. Fox has announced that the ridiculously over rated James Cameron flick Avatar will be re-released into Digital 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on August 27 with over 8 minutes of never before seen footage, yay!

"Since - and largely as of result of - Avatar's release last December, the number of available digital 3D screens has exploded, and moviegoers who missed experiencing the film in 3D, as well as fans that want to return to Pandora again, will now have that opportunity," the studio said.

The award winning smurfs on steroids pulled in 2.7 billion in their first run, and went on to be the highest selling blu ray of all time as well. Which in some ways makes no sense with out the mind blowing 3D experience what does the generic story really have to offer in regular 2D, even if it is in high definition.

They're calling this an opportunity for people that didn't see it in 3D the first time or people that loved it that much to enjoy it again how it was intended to be seen. But I'm calling this plain old greed, they don't give a rats ass about any of that, this is about pushing it over the 3 billion mark.

Just when you thought Hollywood might learn their lesson with live action 3D with all the recent backlash comes this great news. The overrated generic plot that started the widely over used and burnt out trend will remind all of the execs why they're converting everything to 3D for the extra 5 bucks at the box office.

Even Harold and Kumar and Step Up are going 3D... why no one knows. All we can really do is say thank you James Cameron!

    New Clip 'salt'

Columbia Pictures along with Yahoo have released the new trailer for the Angelina Jolie Spy Thriller Salt. I know I'm not the only one that thinks this looks all kinds of awesome, but I still can't figure out why. This seems to be Jolies "thing", but for some reason it hasn't gotten old yet, at least not for me anyways. I don't know if its because she's such a great actress or I just love to watch her run and jump around, I really have no idea.

CIA officer Evelyn Salt (Jolie) swore an oath to duty, honor and country. Her loyalty will be tested when a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy. Salt goes on the run, using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative to elude capture. Salt's efforts to prove her innocence only serve to cast doubt on her motives, as the hunt to uncover the truth behind her identity continues and the question remains: "Who Is Salt?"

opening in theaters on July 23, 2010

    New Machete Poster

The movie that never should have been made but actually was, is starting to ramp up their marketing. Chud's got their hands on the first of what's sure to be a slew of posters for Robert Rodriguez's new flick Machete.

I can't say that I'm honestly all that interested in this, but it has Robert DeNiro who also happens to be featured in the surprisingly bad ass poster below, so I may have to give it a chance after all.

Machete is set for release on September 3, 2010.
