    'Avatar' Poster Goes French Again

I think I have been pretty clear about my feelings towards "Avatar". I don't really care. I'm not going to slip on the blue colored glasses and jump on to the bandwagon cheering the return of "The Messiah" James Cameron. It isn't because I don't think the guy is a talent, he certainly is, but I'm just not buying into this "Avatar" is going to change my life mass hysteria. That being said, I know a lot of you are interested and will be lining up in droves to go experience the 3D world that is "Avatar". So for those will be there supporting this film, I offer you this courtesy of Latino Review, another French "Avatar" poster.

    'New Moon' To Smoke Competition

Bella, Vampires, and Wolves. Oh my! After all the hype and all the gossip "Twi-Hards" are finally on the brink of witnessing the much anticipated sequel to "Twilight". Theaters across the country are going to be stuffed like turkeys with teenie-boppers drooling over Edward and wishing they were running in Bella's shoes. There is no question that "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" will have a big opening weekend with little to no competition. Sorry "Planet 51", nobody cares about cute little green aliens. We apologize Sandra Bullock, but your faux Southern drawl isn't going to be comforting enough.

It is inevitable that "New Moon" will be compared to the original on every level, such is the case with any sequel. "Twilight" pulled in 191 Million + during it's domestic run and opened up with a 69 Million + take. The sequel is primed for a much bigger opening weekend. I'm predicting a 100-110 million opening weekend which will lead to a 200-210 million domestic take. The only real competition "New Moon" will faces comes in the 3D blueness that is "Avatar" which debuts December 18th. Look for a big opening weekend, a good hold the second week, then a steady drop the following weeks.

Anne Hathaway Summoned For Spider-Man 4

While rumors of Rachel McAdams and Julia Stiles wearing skin tight spandex dance in fanboy's heads the producers of "Spider-Man 4" have been courting another actress for a major role in the upcoming film. The queen of breaking news, Nikki Finke, has the exclusive over at her Deadline Hollywood headquarters. Finke points out that the producers are eyeing Anne Hathaway for a starring role but she won't be stealing Kirsten Dunst's thunder, in fact, Finke found out Hathaway isn't even up for the role of the rumored villainess Black Cat.

All I know is that she's wanted for a starring role, and she won't replace Kirsten Dunst who's also cast in the Spidey fourquel. UPDATE: You readers think the role is The Black Cat.

Is Finke's source trying to reach out to the fans and tell us that Black Cat is a rumor and nothing more or could it be possible that there is another high profile female role that the studio is scratching to cast? I've always been a big Hathaway fan, I've been hoping for several years that WB would bring her in for Lois Lane if another Superman movie were to take flight. I think she has better acting chops than both Stiles and McAdams and is still pretty easy on the eyes. If it were up to me and I had to choose one of the three for whatever role is actually being cast, I'd go with the star of "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Rachel Getting Married". No brainer.

    Four "Alice In Wonderland' Posters

The quirky cinematic eye of Tim Burton has gone from new and fresh to safe and comforting. To some that might be a bad thing but others might enjoy the satisfaction of knowing what they'll get for their two hour stay in a cramped seat at the local multiplex. Recognizing a Tim Buton film is like reading through an edition of "Where's Waldo" for the second time, he gets easier and easier to spot. Burton's "Alice In Wonderland" is no exception. It is big, bold, and Burtonesque. Johnny Depp is even along for the ride, playing The Mad Hatter. Check out the poster below. Three more for your viewing pleasure over at Coming Soon.

Separating The Men From The Fanboys

Fanboys. They've been around for years. On some level I am one, and if you are reading this article, you are most likely have a little fanboy in you as well. Maybe your dad was a fanboy, your little brother might be one. This group has certainly evolved over the years, they've come a long way from "Spock Ears" and the "World Science Fiction Convention". On some levels fanboys have influenced studios, many now run major movie websites, and a few even work at said studios. They are everywhere. At your local video store, comic book shop, multiplex, and infiltrating forums all across cyberspace. With advanced technology now at their disposal fanboys have a bigger voice and they are certainly taking advantage of it. The problem is some fanboys, not all, have this sense of entitlement. They are living in a fantasy world where studios should listen to their thoughts and adopt them. Some even lead others to believe they have direct lines to studio. This is when good fanboys go bad.

If you don't feed fanboys after midnight, keep them away from bright light, and avoid water, you still don't have a shot. Some of these individuals have parked themselves in a forum playing into the eagerness of other naive fanboys who just want to see their favorite comic book character on the big screen. They claim to be insiders with knowledge about casting and plot points. I call them "Zombies", they spread lies and infect an entire forum section, creating a pack of mindless "Zombies" in the process. They draw their fellow fanboys in like Mothra to a city aflame and these posters follow them like lemmings no matter how ridiculous their info may be. Once they have them hooked the "Zombies" tell these poor innocent fanboys what they want to hear. The fanboy posse grows and they will defend their "Zombie" leader no matter what the cost. The followers want to believe whatever information they are hearing so badly, that they even begin to buy into the lies and embrace them. It is really a sad and sorry addiction that sometimes takes years to overcome.

To be fair to the real insiders, there are actually what are called "Plants"on some of the bigger movie forums. These "Plants" post casting suggestions and plot points, sometimes even revealing breaking news before major websites even know what hit them. These "Plants" might work for the studio as an intern, or it might even be a higher level executive pounding out juicy info on a shiny silver netbook. There are times when studios will have on one of their own scout out a forum and select a poster to represent the studios interests. They will contact said poster and start feeding them info to pass on to their fellow posters, this is known as a "Contract "Plant". The studio might offer said "Plant" something in return, almost like a fanboy bartering system. Many times the poster is just happy with the new found "Forum-Fame" and will do whatever the studio wants them to. The question is, how do you separate the "Plants" from the "Zombies"? Follow me, I'll show you.

A new poster who just signed up to a forum and starts posting in rather large and cryptic paragraphs about the latest regarding a tentpole film is usually a sure sign of a "Zombie". They say a lot with out saying anything at all. Look for established posters with a large number of posts who have a good following in a certain forum. These are usually the types of posters a studio looks to when selecting a "Contract  Plant". If the new poster seems to know what they are talking about even if they are a "Newbie" poster, check out the screen name. A true "Plant" is going to want to blend in. They won't use a screen name like WBinsider or MarvelDeepThroat. That is almost a sure sign of a "Zombie". True "Plants" will throw out a casting suggestion and move on. They might open a thread about as storyline and just stand by to guage reactions. "Zombies"will hijack the thread turn the thread into a resource to draw in unsuspecting posters, it becomes about them not the news or the posters. "Look at me, look at me!"

A "Zombie" will use words like, "maybe" and "soon". They'll create riddles that could mean anything and leave the posters to solve them. "Zombies" will never give a concrete timetable, or specific news, they leave it open to interpretation. That way if any news happens to leak, they will scream at the top of their forums lungs that they were right all along.  When their info turns out to be bogus, as it usually does, "Zombies" blame Hollywood or point the finger at their sources but will never take the blame. A "Plant" won't be around for the aftermath if they happen to be wrong, they are already laying the foundation for their next assignment. "Plants" will never brag about their careers or tell you what they do. They don't get personal because they can't. This is how their employers want it. A "Zombie" however, will brag about the most mundane of achievements involving Hollywood in order to boost the number of "Zombies" in their brood. Now that you know the difference, let's hope you will be able to spot them and know what to do if you have the misfortune of coming across one.

    "Facebook" Comes To Medford Mass.

Boston is slowly becoming a hotspot for film over last several years despite the less than spectacular tax break that is being offered. Tom Cruise is still in town putting the finishing touches on the film formerly known as "Wichita" which now goes by the title "Knight and Day". His costar, Cameron Diaz, seems to dig filming in Boston and it's suburbs. "The Box" which opened this past weekend was lensed almost entirely in Massachusetts. You can read my review of "The Box" HERE if interested. Of course there were many trailers in front of the film, one of them being "The Edge of Darkness" starring Mel Gibson which was not only filmed in the Boston area but is set in Boston. My Bostonian take on "The Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" finally comes to an end with David Fincher's "The Social Network", the story behind the origin of Facebook and its founders.

A couple weeks ago in Medford, Massachusetts; a rather large city just outside Boston, crews set up for an exterior shoot at the historical Chevalier Theater. The theater will represent a building on the Harvard Campus while most of the interior shots of the Harvard dorm rooms will be shot on location at the UCLA Campus. I guess my only question is when will they start production on a Myspace film with an origin story on its founder, Tom.

Head over to Wicked Local to read a more in depth article about the shoot

For some a little fun head over to The Oracle Of Bacon to find out which actors are more closely linked to Kevin Bacon.

    Heading Back To 'Dawson's Creek'

Back when I was drooling over the prospects of Dylan and Kelly getting back together while secretly watching "90210" another show took notice of those around me. While I was stuck listening to Nat's wisdom over a plate of the Peach Pit's famous burger and fries others were enjoying a heavy dose of teen angst courtesy of Dawson and Joey via Dawson's Creek. I immediately jumped on the bandwagon and never returned to that other zip code. Once you go "Creek" you come back every week.

To me "Dawson's", the affectionate nickname the show has been given by true fans, was one of the best one hour drama's that WB/CW reeled on their network. In my opinion "Everwood" was a close 2nd, but Everwood's run of only four seasons was a bit too short and Dawson's run was a bit too long. "Dawson's Creek" helped to put Kevin Williamson on the map (along with "Scream"), and provided a nice foundation for WB to build upon.

To me the best season of Dawson's was Season 4. You can't beat the tension provided by the return of Pacey and Joey from their Summer vacation from Capeside and the Dawson's reaction to their return. You can now watch all 6 Seasons of "Dawson's Creek" courtesy of the new 24 disc collection which features all 127 episodes.  Not many extra features on this one, although there is a new interview with creator Kevin Williamson.
