    One Crazy Warner Bros Summer

Warner Bros, the studio that routinely kicks all kinds of ass when it comes to the Summer movie season, has released their entire schedule for 2010. WB's summer slate looks slim to put it lightly. The studio that brought us films such as "Batman Begins", "The Dark Knight", "Superman Returns", and "The Hangover" in past Summers appears to be pumping the breaks in 2010. Their most high profile release for Summer 2010 will be "Sex and the City 2" which drops on May 28th. The film is sure to make a solid run at the box office providing an alternative to Paramount's "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time", but could be hard pressed to surpass the 415 + million take the original enjoyed

On June 18th WB is releasing obscure comicbook film "Jonah Hex", starring Josh Brolin and with a small role by the "hot" but no longer a media darling, Megan Fox. I personally don't think this film is going to play that well at the box office and releasing it in the summer is a mistake. Hex makes a lot more sense in late August or even in September. Going up against Paramount's "Footloose" and "Toy Story 3" won't help it. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is set for a 6/30 release which will bury any possible success that "Jonah Hex" might have a chance to experience.

Christopher Nolan, the man who had fanboys drooling with 2008's "The Dark Knight" was given complete control of "Inception" which is set to be released on July 16th. Featuring an all star cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page you would think that this movie is set up for major success. With all due respect to Nolan, who shook the movie world with his dark and gritty look into Gotham's only hero, Inception has the possibility to be a slight disappointment for the studio. The budget is around 200 Million and I can't see "Inception" making this back domestically due to a really tightly packed July, sandwiched between similar movies like "Knight & Day' & "Salt"

"Cats and Dogs: Revenge of the Kitty Galore" and "The Lottery Ticket" bring up the rear for WB's Summer. The sequel to 2001's successful movie "Cats and Dogs" debuts on July 30th and should perform solidly, pulling between 90 - 100 million domestic, in the same range as the original. "The Lottery Ticket" is a much smaller comedy with Bow Wow in the lead. Instead of going out with a bang, WB is going out with a wimper. The comedy reads like a 30 million dollar domestic flick, a young man who is living in the projects needs to make it through a harrowing three day weekend when his neighbors discover he has a winning $350 million lottery ticket in his possession.

How the mighty have fallen. I'd bet my Tron poster that WB is kicking themselves for not positioning a Superman film or other similar tentpole for Summer 2010. It is all together possible that they can move around some tentpoles, it's not like moving furniture but it sure is doable. WB could still be feeling the after effects of the strike, but it seems odd that a perennial Summer Box Office Champion is going into Summer 2010 with a butter knife while studios like Paramount are bringing the heat with rocket launchers courtesy of "Shrek Forever After", "Iron Man 2", and "The Last Airbender". For WB, that's one crazy summer.

    Exclusive Interview With Natalie Morales

Some of you might remember Natalie Morales from her portrayal as the unflappable Wendy Watson in ABC Family's television series "The Middleman". Now you can catch her on USA Network's new hit series "White Collar" playing the sassy Agent Lauren Cruz. She just recently finished shooting for her role in "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps". Natalie was nice enough to take some time out of her busy schedule to answer a few questions for us.

There is an obvious spark between the characters you and Matthew Bomer play on "White Collar", Lauren Cruz and Neal Caffrey. What do you think is holding them back from getting together at this stage?

I think it might be way too soon. Neal is still a bit hung up on Kate. Also, there is a lot of trust issues going around for everybody. I don't think any of us REALLY trust Neal yet, and the same goes for Neal with us. Although, now that I mention it - that may be part of the attraction.

I saw you hauling ass while chasing down Ghovat in the 2nd episode of White Collar, "Threads". What do you do to stay in shape so you can make chasing down criminals look easy?

Interesting question. I should have some ridiculous workout regimen where I do yoga at 5am and only eat leeks. Really, I'm just a lazy 24 year old with a fast metabolism. Ask me again when I'm 30.

Matthew Bomer was close to playing Superman at one point, would you be interested in playing a superhero?

Well, playing Wendy Watson was a hell of a lot of fun. I'd love to do it again.

I want to hear more about "Quitters", which you not only starred in, but also took on the role of executive producer.

Quitters was a pilot that my brilliant friend, Dane Hanson, wrote and directed. We got a group of friends together and shot it in 2 days, just for fun. I look forward to working with him a lot more, the man's a machine.

“Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps” has just wrapped filming. Talk about that experience.

It was so much fun! Everyone was really cool and I got the chance to play a completely different character than I'm used to. I was completely honored to be working with those guys, and they made it very easy.

I heard that "Boldly Going Nowhere" has some new life, tell us about that project.

Boldly is a pilot I shot over a year ago that was written by the Always Sunny in Philadelphia guys (who completely and totally rule) and to be honest I have absolutely no idea what's happening with it.

You're certainly doing well for yourself in front of the camera any thoughts of getting behind the camera as a director?

Absolutely, and thanks, I would definitely love to direct someday. I need a hell of a lot more experience though. I would hate to be one of those people that just thinks she can direct because she's been around directors. There's so much more to it - I've learned a lot from some magnificent people I've worked with.... but I need to take a ton of classes first.

You're spending a quiet night at home watching movies, what's in Natalie's Netflix queue?

Let me look - okay, here's a few: Steamboat Bill Jr., Paper Heart, Big Love Season 1 & Joe Versus the Volcano.

Update your fans on any upcoming projects. What does Natalie's future hold?

I wish I knew. That's the tough/awesome thing about this business. I could be filming a movie in Yemin tomorrow night and not know it until tomorrow morning. Right now, however, I'm focusing on finishing this season of White Collar and then a script I've just written and getting that made. Keep your fingers crossed.

    New "Prince Of Persia" Poster

Planeta Disney has thrown up the new "Prince of Persia: Sands Of Time" poster which has the word Courage imprinted on the top of the poster with a close up of Jake Gyllenhaal's scruffed up face. I think it really takes a lot of Courage to develop a poster this boring.

Stephen King Finds A Safe 'Haven'

Have you seen this man? Probably not. He can be a little reclusive. What do you expect from a guy who concocts nightmarish tales that make even the most thick skinned folk tremble a bit. For some reason I feel like he has been missing in action, off the radar if you will. I know he is a prolific author that lives in a cabin in the backwoods of Maine. Still, one can't help but wonder if King's best days are behind him. I've kicked myself for even thinking such a thing and luckily SyFy doesn't agree with my over the top assessment.

SyFy has placed an order for a 13 episode run of a ghostly series going by the name of "Haven". The show is based on King's novella, "The Colorado Kid". It's good to see King's name in the headlines again, it was starting to sadden me that the only time I was hearing his name was due to the fact he was catching up on his reading while attending a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. King sucked me into the horror genre with his books and some of the movies that were translated from his books are still holding up well. I looking at you "Pet Cemetery". You can be sure I will be tuning in for this series, will you?

Deep in the heart of Maine, Haven is a town where people with supernatural abilities have migrated for generations because it mutes their powers, allowing them to lead normal lives. At least, until recently. When hot-shot FBI agent Audrey Parker is called to Haven to solve the murder of a local ex-con, she catches the killer but uncovers a much deeper mystery about this town. Each week, as the town-peoples' dormant powers begin to express themselves, Audrey will try to keep these supernatural forces at bay while unraveling the many mysteries of Haven including one surrounding her own surprising past in this extraordinary place.

    Reynolds Shoots Down 'Lantern' Origins

If "Batman Begins" taught us anything, its that you don't need a full fledged origin story like "Superman The Movie" in order to introduce a character. Director Christopher Nolan used some well placed flashbacks to give the audience a glimpse into the childhood of Bruce Wayne which was rather effective and didn't hurt the pacing of the film. Music Television had another chance to discuss "Green Lantern" with actor Ryan Reynolds and from his comments it seems that Martin Campbell will take a Nolanesque approach to the origin story.

"It is [an origin story] to a certain degree, but it's not a labored origin story, where the movie [truly] begins in the third act. The movie starts when it starts. We find out Hal is the guy fairly early on, and the adventure begins."

Sounds like we are getting a "Year One" tale and if the incarnation we get on screen is similar to what I read in an earlier draft, that is exactly what you should expect. "Spider-Man" and "Wolverine" also followed a "Year One" type format, so there is a history of success behind the formula. Even though he wouldn't flat out describe Lantern as an origin story, Ryan Reynolds made it a point to compare "Green Lantern" to "Iron Man", which is both a good thing and bad thing. That is a lot to live up to, but if the film comes anywhere close to "Iron Man" in appeal or box office, WB has done something right.

    'Karate Kid' Photos

I'm trying to get past this. I really am. I might actually have a problem. In this era of reboots, requels, prequels, and restarts, I can't understand or accept a reboot of "The Karate Kid". Pat Morita obviously isn't walking through that door and Ralph Macchio last got his kicks on the set of "Ugly Betty". This is where I draw the line. I understand that no movie is safe and I shouldn't feel as if "The Karate Kid" is somehow a sacred cow, but I can't let go. I'm just not ready to let somebody else wax on and wax off, even if it is Will Smith's son.

While I attempt to combat my inner demons who have a penchant for medicore movies from the 80's, Latino Review has some shots of Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan from "The Karate Kid" remake. One of them is below, for the rest click the above link and sweep the leg.

    WB Adds Possible 'Potter' Replacement

I wonder what it feels like to carry the burden of having two huge successful franchises on your shoulders while attempting to find yet another one. For those reading along at home, I'm referring to Warner Bros on the verge of saying goodbye to the Harry Potter franchise. Sure they have Hobbit and at least one more Batman movie somewhere in their arsenal, but WB is looking for a juggernaut in the vein of the Potter Series.

That search for the next big thing has brought WB to Stohl and Garcia's "Beautiful Creatures". According to The Trades, WB has purchased the rights to the popular novel in hopes that the twist on your typical coming of age story turns into the next "Twilight" at the very least. Richard LaGravanese has been selected to write the script and station himself behind the lense. You may remember LaGravanse for his directorial touch on "P.S. I Love You" or if you somehow got your hands on his scripted adaptation of "Water For Elephants" Synposis for "Beautiful Creatures" is below.

Ethan Wate, a popular high school student, hates living in a small in South Carolina where nothing happens—until he meets and becomes bewitched by Lena Duchanne, a 16-year old whose family has moved back to town and who wishes for a mundane life.  The star-crossed couple has to confront an age old curse that has haunted her family for generations, as she comes to grips with her powers.
