Strange Humanoid Photo Surfaces, Viral Marketing? UPDATED

NBC 33 Baton Rouge might have frightened a good part of the population during a recent news cast.

The news comes via IO9 and was reportedly taken on a reserve in Berwick near Morgan City. The person who submitted the picture chooses to remain anonymous claims the picture comes from a deer cam. The anonymous donor also claims the entire camp was massacred.

The camera, which must detect movement triggering it to snap a picture, was also destroyed. The SDHC card however, somehow remained intact during the destruction according to the submitter.

Sounds like a not so elaborate hoax to me, but if not, could it be viral marketing for a film or television show? Is it possible that JJ Abrams' "Super 8" has started their viral marketing? Maybe a video game?

What do you think?

UPDATE #1

Looks like our very own Mac McCoy might have uncovered the mystery. He found another photo with a different time stamp 11/30/10 featuring the same creature in the same pose. The corner of the photo also features a company name in the bottom left hand corner "Wildgame Innovations"

Some research into the company reveals it is a hunting site that specializes in these types of cameras. It is possible that the company is using this humanoid to drum up business for their cameras.

UPDATE #2:

Yet another update on this weirdo creature. We were right, it is viral marketing, but it is for an upcoming video game called "Resistance 3" from Insomniac Games. Here is what they had to say via Twitter:

Whoops… looks like one got out. If you see a Grim on the loose… please return to Insomniac Games, Burbank, CA

Mystery solved? Maybe...

Adam Sandler & Kevin James To Drive Funny

Sony Pictures Entertainment wants themselves some more of the funny big guy we all know as Kevin James. They've put preliminary pen to paper on a deal for Nick Bakay's "Valet Guys". As reported by TOLDJA! the pitch to Sony deals with a couple of valet guys with some miles to their name that witness a murder at a hotel in South Beach and go on the run.

The project was conceived as a possible movie for the comedic stylings of James and comedic cohort Adam Sandler. Bakay is no stranger to either of the funny men. He was a producer on "King of Queens" and co-wrote both "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" and "Zookeeper". Sandlers production company produced "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" and will produce "Zookeeper". Bakay and James are set to begin writing the script.

James is really making a name for himself as the go to overweight funny man in Hollywood. He is now what Jack Black was back when the general public actually adored him during his "High Fidelity" days. Hopefully James won't fall into the category no actor wants to fall into, those who are over-exposed.

New Poster & Trailer For "Rio"

Fox has released the poster and trailer for their upcoming animated flick "Rio". I have to say this looks like another fun romp from the makers of "Ice Age". I'll be in line to see this one just like I am for any of these new fangled animated jaunts, not to mention it will be all up in our faces with some mind blowing 3D technology.

Set in the magnificent city of Rio de Janeiro and the lush rainforest of Brazil, Rio centers on Blu, a rare macaw who thinks he is the last of his kind. When Blu discovers there's another — and that she's a she — he leaves the comforts of his cage in small town Minnesota and heads to Rio. But it's far from love at first sight between the domesticated and flight-challenged Blu and the fiercely independent, high-flying female, Jewel. Unexpectedly thrown together, they embark on an adventure of a lifetime, where they learn about friendship, love, courage, and being open to life's many wonders. "Rio" brings together a menagerie of vivid characters, a heart-warming story, colorful backdrops, energizing Latin and contemporary music, and family-friendly song and dance.

US Debut of Gruffalo During ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas

The animated half-hour special The Gruffalo will make its US debut on ABC Family on Thursday, December 9, at 7:00PM ET/PT as part of the network’s annual 25 Days of Christmas programming event. Based on Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s best selling children’s picture book, The Gruffalo features an all-star voice cast including Robbie Coltrane (Harry Potter film series) as the Gruffalo, Helena Bonham Carter (Alice in Wonderland) as the narrator, Rob Brydon (TV’s “Gavin & Stacey”) as the Snake, James Corden (TV’s “Gavin & Stacey”) as the Mouse, John Hurt (V for Vendetta) as the Owl, and Tom Wilkinson (Michael Clayton) as the Fox. Published in the US by Penguin Books®, The Gruffalo celebrated its tenth anniversary last year and has been translated into 40 different languages selling over 4 million copies worldwide.

The Gruffalo tells the magical tale of a mouse who takes a walk though the woods in search of a nut. Encountering three predators – all of whom wish to eat him - a fox, an owl and a snake - the plucky mouse has to use his wits to survive.  He announces that he is meeting a monster with terrible features, a ‘Gruffalo’, and the three predators are each panicked into running away.   The mouse is now increasingly confident that there is nothing that can touch him, or so he thinks. When he rounds a corner and comes face to face with the terrible creature of his imagination, the Gruffalo itself, the mouse has to dig deep to escape the danger and ultimately restore peace to the woods.

Produced by Magic Light Pictures, the 30-minute animation was completed in 2009 and premiered in the UK on BBC1 on Christmas Day receiving 10 million viewers and 42.6% share of the total audience; one of the highest rated programs of the year.

Axel Scheffler’s classic artwork is brought to life with a unique mixture of model and CGI animation. Michael Rose (Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run) and Martin Pope (The Heart of Me, Lawless Heart) have produced through Magic Light Pictures. The film is directed by Jakob Schuh and Max Lang and was animated at the award winning Studio Soi in Ludwigsburg, Germany.  Sold and broadcast internationally, The Gruffalo was nominated for a BAFTA and has won numerous awards including the Prix Jeunesse and the Crystal for Best TV Special at Annecy Animation Festival.

IP MAN 2 Teaser Trailer Available on Yahoo Movies!

International megastar Donnie Yen reprises his iconic role as the real-life kung fu grandmaster Ip Man in this martial arts spectacular. After escaping the Japanese occupation of his hometown of Foshan, China, Ip Man and his family have arrived in Hong Kong, which is living under the iron fist of British colonial rule. Ip wants to support his family by opening up a martial arts academy to teach his unique Wing Chun style. But a corrupt cabal of Hong Kong martial arts masters, led by Hung Chun-nam (the legendary Sammo Hung), refuses to allow Ip to teach until he proves himself – and prove himself he does, in an intense series of fights against the masters showcasing a dazzling variety of martial arts styles, culminating in a highly anticipated brawl between Ip and Hung atop a rickety table.

But even after gaining the respect of the masters, Ip's troubles are far from over. Hong Kong under British rule is a world of corruption, and when a Western-style boxer named Taylor "Twister" Milos comes to town to entertain the British upper-class, and insults both Chinese martial arts and the native citizens in a horrifically violent way, Ip must step up and fight for the honor of both his kung fu and the Chinese people. Forced by honor to enter a brutal "King of the Ring" boxing match against Twister, it's East versus West in an amazing, knock-down drag-out fight to the finish, the likes of which have never been seen on-screen before.

Presented in the original, un-dubbed and uncut, international version that's been breaking box-office records across Asia, Ip Man 2: Legend of the Grandmaster is a throwback to the golden age of Hong Kong martial arts cinema that will delight kung fu fans and newcomers alike when it hits theaters across the US and Canada on January 28, 2011.
