Four New Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows Posters

Yahoo! Movies have debuted four new posters for the eagerly anticipated Sherlock Holmes sequel, they are in the same style as the previous posters and are pretty cool.

The films opens on December 16th and you can see a synopsis and the posters below.

Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room... until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large -- Professor Moriarty -- and not only is he Holmes' intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective. When the Crown Prince of Austria is found dead, the evidence, as construed by Inspector Lestrade points to suicide. But Sherlock Holmes deduces that the prince has been the victim of murder -- a murder that is only one piece of a larger and much more portentous puzzle, designed by one Professor Moriarty.

Mixing business with pleasure, Holmes tracks the clues to an underground gentlemen's club, where he and his brother, Mycroft Holmes are toasting Dr. Watson on his last night of bachelorhood. It is there that Holmes encounters Sim, a Gypsy fortune teller, who sees more than she is telling and whose unwitting involvement in the prince's murder makes her the killer's next target. Holmes barely manages to save her life and, in return, she reluctantly agrees to help him. The investigation becomes ever more dangerous as it leads Holmes, Watson and Sim across the continent, from England to France to Germany and finally to Switzerland. But the cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead as he spins a web of death and destruction -- all part of a greater plan that, if he succeeds, will change the course of history.

    New Underworld Awakening Trailer

Comingsoon.Net via Screen Gems have gotten hold of the second trailer for Underworld Awakening, which will be the first movie in the franchise to be in 3D for those that are interested.

In truth it's not a lot different to the first trailer with just a couple of extra moneyshots, but it expands on the story of the movie, which looks like the same slick action fest as the other two Underworld's directed by Len Wiseman, the prequel was a different sort of action film.

Sony's Screen Gems has released the new trailer for Underworld Awakening, hitting 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on January 20. Directed by Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein, the anticipated film stars Kate Beckinsale, Stephen Rea, Michael Ealy, Theo James, India Eisley and Charles Dance.

Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt In Action On The TDKR Set

Yesterday we saw the pics of Bane's mercs on motorbikes with hostages strapped to the backs, today comes video of them bursting out of a building with John Blake (JGL) taking aim at them. Apparently the hostages are Gotham City stockbrokers.

This is a risky sequence in my view, it's certainly inventive and I have faith in Nolan pulling it off, but there is the slight danger it could come off as unintentionally comical.

darkknightrisesrumors.com got the vid via Splash news.

James Mangold Talks About His Plans For 'The Wolverine'

I know some are sick of Wolverine and some hardcore X Men fans felt he was too dominant in the 3 X Men movies, but I don't care as I've always been more of a Wolverine fan than an X Men fan and he's my second favourite comic book character after Batman, so as you can imagine his solo movie was a let down.

However it made enough money to get a sequel and give Fox the chance to do justice by the character, and after this summers 'X Men: First Class' and 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' I remain cautiously hopeful.

James Mangold talked to Indie Wire about his vision for the movie and it sounds great to me, referencing Clint Eastwood's classic 'The Outlaw Josey Wales' and the use of the Yakuza and Ninjas!

Mangold also said he was keenly aware of the conventions of the genre he would be exploring, and felt he's been able to turn it into a more unique story than most other superhero movies demand. "I think part of the reason I'm doing this picture has been because it isn't to me a conventional superhero movie. It isn't an origin story, so I’m freed from that burden, and it also isn’t a save-the-world movie, which most of them are. It’s actually a character piece; I actually think it has more in common with 'The Outlaw Josey Wales' and 'Chinatown,' what we’re doing, than the conventional, 'will Wolverine and his compatriots save the world from this thermonuclear device' question."

Following the success of the first "Wolverine," fans speculated – and in fact hoped - that the second film would examine the comic book story lines written by Chris Claremont, in which Wolverine spent time in Japan. Mangold said that he wants to take advantage of those fish-out-of-water opportunities, and then combine them with storytelling, and of course, action sequences which maximize the influence of the world around the characters. "I think that this movie is much more an intense psychological and action-packed character piece, that’s much more about Logan getting lost in this very unique and insulated world of Japanese culture, gangster culture, and ninja culture," he said. "The fighting is going to be unique because it's all influenced by Japanese martial arts."

Michael Shannon Talks TWO Zod Costumes!

One day Michael Shannon's on the "Man of Steel" set wearing what looks like rejected "Peter Pan" spandex rocking those black & white mo-cap dots. By those pictures, everyone deduced Henry Cavill would be the only actor in the "Superman" reboot wearing an actual suit. Days later, there's Shannon again this time wearing an all black suit akin of Cavill's Supes threads.

What's the deal? Entertainment Weekly kneeled before Zod for answers and got the scoop:

Do you have a costume? A Krypton outfit?
There's two different modes. There's something that I have to wear a motion-capture suit for, because if I actually wore it, I wouldn’t be able to move. It’s a very big…thing. I actually don’t know what it’s going to look like, I just know that it’s very cumbersome. There’s another thing that I wear that’s an actual costume. It’s pretty simple. There’s no paisley or anything.

You don’t get to wear a flowing cape or anything like that?
I don’t know. That’s the thing about these movies. I could have an elephant head.

That would certainly be a new interpretation of the character.
Like Ganesh, right? Isn’t that the god that has the elephant head?

Could we be seeing something like this onscreen in 2013?

The Wicked Witch Of The West Unveiled!

All Hallows’ Eve is upon us! so there could be no more fitting a time for Sean Gates and Clayton Spinney to release a clip of the Wicked Witch of the West from their independent adaption of L. Frank Baum's 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'.

I think it's a fantastic clip dripping with atmosphere and menace with a great performance from Marie Rizza as the Wicked Witch of the West , this is not the sing along Oz many are used to, it's a much darker and truer adaption of the book.

Check out the clip below and go to the official site to learn more about the production. The film is set to release on November 23rd, 2012.

    Stallone Enters The Tomb

This one had Bruce Willis attached to it for a quite a while, as well as director Antoine Fuqua, now another 80's Icon Sly Stallone has stepped in to take the lead role.

I love the premise but I think Willis was a better choice for this type of role, still, it's great to see Sly getting roles outside of those in the films he writes, directs and produces. Hopefully Summit can get a good helmer attached soon.

    The news comes from Variety:

Sylvester Stallone is breathing life into "The Tomb" for Summit and Emmett/Furla Films.

The two companies have been trying to get the pic off the ground for some time, and the project has seen a revolving door of action vets come and go. Antoine Fuqua was once attached to direct and Bruce Willis originally positioned to star. After Willis moved on, Arnold Schwarzenegger considered the pic for his post-politics bigscreen return.

Schwarzenegger instead chose Lionsgate's "Last Stand" and Fuqua moved on to direct "Southpaw" for MGM, leaving "The Tomb" in a holding pattern.

Now, with Stallone onboard, the producers will look for a helmer to replace Fuqua. No production start date has been set.

Story follows Ray Breslin, the world's foremost authority on structural security -- specifically prisons. His skills are put to the test when he is framed and put in a high-security prison of his own design and must find the person who put him there.

Miles Chapman wrote the action screenplay, with Jason Keller providing a rewrite.

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol Trailer

The trailer for "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" is not as jam packed with money shots as one might imagine it would be, and I have read that the film actually plays more like a high tech heist movie, with two major heists at the center of the story.

There seems to be a car chase using a BMW concept car that has a slight futuristic edge to it and the hanging from ceilings on ropes staple is present. I'm glad they aren't giving too much of the Burj Khalifa sequence away, but the shot at the end is very cool.

Coming Soon also has the scoop on two scenes that have been screened which you can read about at the link.

    Scorsese To Make A Snowman

You have probably already guessed but no, this is not a family Christmas movie in the works for the old master. It's actually a serial killer thriller based on a book by Norwegian author Jo Nesbo. Since The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo hit big Scandinavian thrillers have become Hollywood's new in thing; with another Nesbo's books 'Headhunters' optioned just last week.

One thing is for sure, when DiCaprio is cast in the lead he'll want a name change for the detective.

The news comes from Comingsoon.Net  via The Trades.

Martin Scorsese may have found his followup to the upcoming Hugo. Variety reports that the legendary director has expressed an interested in adapting Jo Nesbø's The Snowman into a feature film. Matthew Michael Carnahan is in talks to provide the screenplay.

The book marks the seventh entry in Nesbø's "Harry Hole" series and the plot is officially described as follows:

It is November in Oslo and the first snow of the year has fallen. Birte Becker comes home from work and praises the snowman her husband and son have made in the garden. But they haven’t made a snowman. As the family stand by the sitting room window looking out in amazement at the snowman, the son notices that it is facing the house. The black eyes are staring at the window. At them.

Detective Inspector Harry Hole receives an anonymous letter signed “The Snowman”. Later he finds an alarming common thread in all the old disappearance cases. Married women go missing the day the first snow falls. That same night Sylvia Pedersen is fighting her way through the first snow in a forest outside Oslo. She knows she is running for her life, but she doesn’t know what from. Nor does she know what lies ahead. Fortunately.
