Magnolia Pictures Acquires World Rights to "Jack & Diane"

The Wagner/Cuban Company's Magnolia Pictures announced today that it has acquired world rights to JACK AND DIANE, a beautifully dark and twisted tale of young love starring Juno Temple (Atonement), Riley Keough (The Runaways), pop icon Kylie Minogue, and Cara Seymour (An Education). The film, which is currently in post-production, was written, directed and produced by Bradley Rust Gray (The Exploding Girl). It was also produced by Jen Gatien, So Yong Kim and Karin Chien, and is expected to be completed this fall.

Magnolia International is launching sales at this year’s Cannes market. International sales will be handled by Laird Adamson.

Jack and Diane are two teenage girls who meet in New York City and spend the night kissing ferociously, quickly striking up a passionate love affair. But when Jack discovers that Diane is leaving the country in a week, she tries to push her away. Diane struggles to keep their love alive while hiding the secret that her newly awakened sexual desire is giving her monster-like visions.  JACK AND DIANE also stars Dane DeHaan (“True Blood”), Michael Chernus (Love and Other Drugs) and Lou Taylor Pucci (Carriers). The film features animation from the Brothers Quay, and creature effects by Gabe Bartalos (Cremaster 2 and 4).

“Bradley Rust Gray has brought together a stellar cast to tell this wildly original love story that blew us away,” said Magnolia SVP Tom Quinn. “He has a wholly unique vision and we can’t wait to see this exciting project brought to fruition.”

JACK AND DIANE has been a long labor of love, sweat, blood and tears, and I couldn't be more thrilled to find a home with Magnolia,” said director Bradley Rust Gray. “I'm a huge fan of the kind of bold, risk-taking cinema that Magnolia releases, and I'm excited to work with them to reach the largest audience possible.

The film was brought in to Magnolia by Director of Acquisitions Peter Van Steemburg, and the deal was negotiated by Magnolia SVP Tom Quinn with Jen Gatien.

    "HappyThankYouMorePlease" DVD & Blu-Ray June 21st

Can anyone ever find the right balance of romance, happiness and clarity? On June 21, Anchor Bay Films answers the question with happythankyoumoreplease on Blu-ray™ and DVD – a sharp comedy about a group of 20-something New Yorkers struggling to figure out themselves, their lives and their loves. Written, directed and starring Josh Radnor (CBS’s Emmy-nominated® “How I Met Your Mother”), the film charmed critics and will be available on Blu-ray™ for an SRP of $39.99 and DVD for an SRP of $29.98, with special features

On his way to meeting his publisher, aspiring novelist Sam Wexler (Josh Radnor) meets Rasheen, a young boy separated from his family on the subway. When Rasheen refuses to be left alone with social services, Sam learns the boy has already been in six previous homes and impulsively agrees to let the boy stay with him for a couple days. Dropped into Sam’s chaotic, bachelor lifestyle, Rasheen is introduced to Sam’s circle of friends: Annie (Malin Akerman, The Proposal) who has a habit of dating the wrong men, but finds a promising new suitor (Toney Hale, “Arrested Development”), Mary-Catherine (Zoe Kazan, Revolutionary Road) and Charlie (Pablo Schreiber, “The Wire”) whose potential move to Los Angeles threatens their relationship, and Mississippi (Kate Mara, 127 Hours), an ambitious singer/waitress who tests Sam’s fear of commitment. As Sam’s friendship with Rasheen develops, he realizes that adulthood is not about waiting for the right answers, but simply stumbling ahead and figuring them out in the process.

With a brilliant young cast and a soundtrack featuring one of the brightest indie musicians on the scene today, Jaymay, happythankyoumoreplease deftly captures the uncertainty and angst of what it is to be young, vulnerable, and desperate to find out who you are - or perhaps more importantly, who you want to be.

"Green Lantern" Theatrical Trailer # 2!

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

New "Transformers 3" Trailer Rated R For Robot

Giant robots destroying our favorite cities while they fight for the fate of the world in a visually pleasing retina burning action fest. Yep. That's what it looks like. We saw it in "Transformers" and "Transformers 2" and we're going to see it all again on an even bigger scale in "Transformers 3". The trailer is everything the general public craves and then some. A skyscraper actually gets cut in half in the trailer. In half.

The creative team behind the movie want to tell you its different because it's an alien invasion flick, what were the previous two then? This film is going to make bank for sure, but let's call it what it is. A visually pleasing metal on metal action fest. Enjoy the carnage below or head over to Apple Trailers.

New "The Three Musketeers" Pictures With Extra Cleavage

I keep forgetting that "The Three Musketeers" is actually coming out to a theater near me in October. Then I'll receive an email from a publicist or look up and see a website reporting on some Musketeer releated news and remember the three dudes with swords and weirdo hats are going to 3D it up whether we like it or not.

View a couple pictures from the flick below.

New United Kingdom "POTC: On Stranger Tides Poster"

I'm no box office expert, but I'm not sure if the general public is clamoring for a fourth movie in the" Pirates Of Caribbean" series, but here we are. Sure, I can't get enough of anything Johnny Depp does but how many times can you go back to the well, or in this case The Fountain Of Youth, before the water runs dry?

All of that aside, LoveFilm.com has an exclusive look at the UK poster for the fourth installment. See below. Is it bad that all I can think of is "Splash" while looking at the poster? Not too much longer before they remake that. Just sayin.

Superman's Fortress Of Solitude Breaks Ground In Vancouver

What's any hero without their secret hideout? It's a place to reflect on their latest act of kindness and come up with a plan to fend of villains such as Lex Luthor or the Joker. The hideouts can sometimes be just as important as their alternate egos. Batman has the Batcave and Superman has his Fortress of Solitude.

The Fortress has been portrayed in a number of ways in different levels of media, including a South American Fortress, a fortress in the center of the sun, and a fortress under the sea.  The most well known version is the giant palace of ice located in the Arctic. Of course "Superman: The Movie" and it's sequels including "Superman Returns" brought this giant house of ice into the eyes of the public.

I don't know which version The Brothers Warner are going to go with, but apparently Zack Snyder wants to bring back The Fortress for Cavill to "chill" in. Patrick Sauriol of Corona Coming Attractions has tweeted that they are constructing The Fortress almost in his back yard. Well, if his backyard was inside a sound stage.

Looks like Superman is still going to spend some time talking to his biological father going over the ups and downs of having such great power. I hope their is no silver mylar bed or a giant key to go along with it.

    TMT: Under Construction

TMT may look a little different to you going forward, possibly starting tonight. We'll be working with our new logo and our new design and integrating it as we go along. As we strive to make our site more user friendly and easier to navigate on all platforms you'll be a part of it. The site of course will stay up as we do our thing, so you'll still be able to enjoy the commentary on movies and television provided by our writers.

I'd like to introduce you to our new logo which was designed by our very own Mac McCoy. The logo features a plutonium warning symbol bordered by a film cell. The sticker being a nod to "Back To The Future" and of course the cell a tribute to what we write about day in and day out. Film. The logo will be featured not only on our site but across all levels of TMT media including our social network sites.

As always enjoy your time here and stick with us as we attempt to make your experience more enjoyable.

    New Photos From "Dolphin Tale"

ComingSoon.Net has an interesting set visit preview & batch of new photos for the upcoming true story of Winter the dolphin featured in "Dolphin Tale".

On December 10th, 2005, Winter was only three months old and swimming in the Mosquito Lagoon of New Smyrna Beach, Florida when her tail got wrapped tightly in the line of a crab trap. She was discovered and taken to Florida's Clearwater Marine Aquarium for rehabilitation, even though the injuries she sustained made it unlikely she would survive, especially after her tail had to be amputated. Through the combined efforts of the Aquarium, vets, and prosthetic specialists, a new tail was developed for her, the first of its kind for such a young, inexperienced swimmer. It has enabled her to grow to be a whopping 235 pound movie star!

    "Monsters University" Logo

The Pixar Blog did a little digging and unearthed the logo for the upcoming "Monsters Inc." prequel which is called "Monsters University". Logo looks pretty straight forward and generic, but it certainly might be worked on as we go forward. The prequel will take us back in monster time when Sulley and Mike Wazowski were roaming the halls as classmates at Monstropolis' University of Fear.
