"Taken" Sequel To Start Production In October

I wasn't expecting much when I sat down in the theater with my lady friend and small core of our friends to watch Taken in January of 2008, but boy did I get a lot. The flick was tight, action packed, and had enough heart to keep the characters honest and the audience in a state of constant care for them. Leaving the theater upon the roll of the credits I was content and never even fathomed a sequel.

Cut to now, our friends over at ComingSoon.Net have the exclusive update on the sequel to Taken which will commence production in October. In an interview with Luc Besson (one of the writers on Taken) about Colombia, he revealed that director Olivier Megaton has been scouting locations for the sequel while in L.A. Besson also dropped that everybody will be back for the 2nd installment, but we all know that the sequel begins and ends with Liam Neeson.

In my opinion Neeson always brings it but he was spot on in Taken. Perfect combination of grit and sincerity that you come to expect out of the grizzled actor. You wonder what direction they will take with the sequel. It will be interesting to see if Neeson's character is called back to the agency for one final mission or if they will continue the storyline involving the daughter. Some baddies coming back for revenge maybe? I wouldn't want to mess with Bryan Mills.

Superman & Faora Exchanging Glances In Smallville

For some reason the debate was still being had out in super geek forums across the interwebs, even though it was fairly obvious, Superman is not wearing trunks. Pictures from the Plano set which is representing Smallville conclude this. From the pictures Supes doesn't look none to happy that Faora and some Mo Cap menace are owning the streets that Clark once called home.

You can see why they wanted to release an official shot of the suit, because these photos don't do it justice either way. You can't tell if it is good or bad based off these shots. Suit looks dingy blue, and because of the lack of separation from the trunks, there is a lot of blue to be had. Some sort of hybrid belt on there too. Whats up prototype suit from "Flyby".

Not sure if it looks good or bad, it's sort of a grainy spy shot from The Man Of Steel Facebook Page. I can now safely say this site has some deep relationship with the studio based on these photos. The real question is, who is the walking house in the Mo Cap suit? Doesn't look like Zod to me. Please tell me Non is back. Maybe he'll be struggling with heat vision again. Such a problem with today's Kryptonians.

So what do you think? Is Superman bringing it or is it a fail?

"Man Of Steel" Versus Plano: Day 2

Ursa Is Faora, Faora Is Ursa.

More set pictures from downtown Plano, I mean, Smallville. I thought this set was going to be closed to the public to prevent any leaks? That was all smoke and mirrors I guess because on day two a number of photogs snapped pictures of Antje Traue in her full Kryptonian Femme Fetal Faora gear. Maybe Jimmy Olsen was part of that camera contingent considering we haven't heard if the bow tied boy is even in this flick.

I mean it's hard not to compare Faora to Ursa here. Tough to tell from the pictures which you can view both above and below, but it looks to me like there is a little Ursa in Faora from the color of the suit to possible the hair. I do like the cape. Interesting to note that Zod and whoever those three other dudes are going mo cap with the suit, while Faora has some black leatherish armor going on.

Wondering if the Phantom Zone is even involved or if these guys are just vacationing on Planet Houston for the holidays when the stumble on "The Son Of Their Jailor".

"Man Of Steel" Versus Plano: Day 1

After some healthy time shooting at the Kent Farm, Zach Snyder and company moved to the center of Smallville yesterday to tear some shit up. According to multiple reports the 7 Eleven just freshly built bit the dust courtesy of a fight brewing between Superman, Zod, Faora and the U.S. military machine. Below are some photos of what is being called a "closed set". Note the destroyed plane parts and helicopter which is being used for shooting, you can view videos of the helicopter below.

CornPalaceStudios via their YouTube account has some footage of the aftermath of the first day of shooting in Plano and some helicopters circling the set. Also Jane Kubisak via her Youtube Account has footage of some flying helicopters cutting up the sky over faux Smallville.

    "Tangled: Ever After" Poster

Shrek called, he wants his title back. Disney's "Tangled: Ever After" poster has been revealed. The short will run on the Disney Channel in Spring 2012.  No synopsis has been released as of yet but by the title I wouldn't be surprised if somehow, some way, Shrek shows up. Sweet.

    "Underworld: Awakening" Poster

Underworld: Awakening brings a stunning new dimension to the epic battle between Vampires and Lycans, as the first film in the franchise to shoot in 3D. Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.

    Zod Arrives On Planet Smallville

Tons of pictures from the "Man Of Steel" set rolling in the last couple days. We saw the back of Superman entering a house, his right arm and leg, and some random craters. It's kind of silly if you think about it, but that is the life of a fan. Excitement and sometimes aggravation over the little things.

Today we're greeted with Zod aka Michael Shannon wandering around the Kent Farm in what looks to be full CGI glory. Looks like he is wired up to wear some kind of "Superman Lives" inspried CGI suit, maybe something similar to what was featured on Ryan Reynolds in "The Green Lantern".

There is also an unidentified gentleman in a CGI suit who looks like Russell Crowe ie Jor-El with his Robin Hood inspired haircut in the 3rd picture down. He could certainly be a stunt double for Shannon, or maybe the stunt double for Faora. I mean Ursa had short hair right? Yikes. Another possibility is comic character Jax-Ur or maybe even J.J. Abram's Ty-Zor from his "Flyby" script. Gross. Maybe a whole new character yet to be announced. Secrets. All of that being said, my money is on it being Jor-El.

The last picture seems to be Diane Lane entering the house from a side door. I guess it could be Amy Adams too right? So hard to tell because they film everything out of sequence. Diane Lane entering the house could be a shot they needed for the beginning of the film. We need Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law to figure this all out for us.

    "Wreck-It Ralph" At D23 Expo

I am telling you the truth when I say I've never heard of this project. Apparently it has gone through several incarnations including "Reboot Ralph" and "Joe Jump". I dig this title much better. I can't get enough of these glossy animated films. I love the nod to Mario Bros & Donkey Kong. Check out the sort of synopsis and more pictures below courtesy of Bleeding Cool.

Wreck-It Ralph (John C. Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives, featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (Jane Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness.

He sneaks into the game with a simple plan – win a medal – but soon wrecks everything, and accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy.

But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it’s “Game Over” for the entire arcade?
