The New Childhood Version Of Michael Myers

While Rob Zombie has been busy on the set of "H2", or in some circles "H2: The Devil Walks Among Us". Bloody Disgusting has been busy bringing us "H2" scoops. In early March Bloody Disgusting broke the news that Daeg Faerch had ougrown his role as the young Michael Myers and would need to be recast. Now Bloody Disgusting has revealed Daeg's replacement to be Chase Vanek. Compare the two young actors in the photos below. Pretty damn close if you ask me.

Writers Hired For 'Star Trek' Sequel

With more than a month to go until "Star Trek" beams into theaters, Paramount must be feeling pretty confident about the movie's chances.

Variety is reporting three writers have been hired to write a sequel to the re-imagining of the sci-fi classic: Damon Lindelof, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

J.J. Abrams is directing the first movie, but so far, he is on board for the sequel only as a producer. There has been speculation he will not direct the second "Star Trek" movie.

Variety reports the "story is still in the embryonic stage," saying Orci, Kurtzman and Lindelof -- who also will receive producing credits for the sequel -- are aiming to deliver their script by the end of this year for what would likely be a summer 2011 release.

"There's obviously a lot of hubris involved in signing on to write a sequel of a movie that hasn't even come out yet," said Lindelof, co-creator with Abrams of ABC's "Lost" who produced the upcoming "Trek" but did not contribute to Orci and Kurtzman's screenplay. "But we're so excited about the first one that we wanted to proceed."

For a quick refresher, here is the trailer for "Star Trek," due out May, 8, 2009:

NBC Cuts "Chopping Block" After 3 Episodes

NBC made an attempt to follow in the footsteps of Fox's "Hell's Kitchen" and "Kitchen Nightmares" but their food spattered reality show "Chopping Block" has been given the axe after only three episodes. Although Marco Pierre White was Gordon Ramsay's mentor, even making him cry at one point under his tutelage, he was no match in the ratings. "Chopping Block certainly didn't go out cutting as it dried out in front of only 2.6 million viewers this past week. The rest of the episodes might air at a later date, until then we will have to satisfy our cravings elsewhere.

One 'Light' Stays On While Another Is Going Off

Variety is reporting that NBC and DirecTV have come to an agreement that will keep "Friday Night Lights" on for at least two more seasons.

The deal calls for a pair of 13-episode seasons.

The show avoided cancellation prior to this past season when DirecTv jumped in and added the show. And, as was the case this past season, "Friday Night Lights" will air commercial-free on DirecTv before re-airing on NBC.

The new seasons will be the fourth and fifth for the football drama, which airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET and also is available at Hulu.com.

Maintaining a "Light" theme, CBS is likely flipping the off switch for “Guiding Light,” the longest-running daytime drama in television history.

According to TV Week: "The network’s deal for the Procter & Gamble-produced drama — the least watched of the eight daytime serials currently on the air — ends in September. But if CBS does drop 'Guiding Light,' it likely would lock in a decision within the next month, people familiar with the matter said. That would give writers a chance to tie up storylines."

TV Week said CBS is talking to outside studios to find a replacement show.

"Guiding Light" began as a radio show in 1937 and transitioned to television in 1952. A recent revamping of the show has failed to boost ratings, as "Guiding Light" currently attracts only 2.17 million viewers daily, down 18 percent from last year.

    Bruno Gets NC-17 Rating

And to think I was wondering just when the Hell we'd hear about Sasha Boran Cohen's Bruno.

A few months back, Universal quietly moved Sacha Baron Cohen's Borat follow-up from it's May 2009 release to July 10. Well it's almost April so it's about time for the campaign to kick off - still surprised they didn't do a Super Bowl TV spot to be honest.

The Wrap reports that the docu-comedy has been given the kiss of death by the MPAA - aka an NC-17 rating upon it's first submission.

Not surprisingly, the big to-do with the ratings-board was sex. Or more specifically the title character, an openly-gay Austrian fashion expert/TV interviewer, having his way with another man before our very eyes.

Gasp! I am shocked the MPAA is prudish towards sex - never seen that before! *Rolls eyes*

Of course, Cohen & Co. will have to make the required cuts and resubmit the film. That or they can appeal like Kevin Smith did last year with Zack & Miri Make a Porno...and won!

Nonetheless, this gives the film more publicity leading up to it's July 10 release and we can all already smell the "Outrageous Unrated DVD!"

Abandoned Warehouse Transforms Into A Studio

Louisiana is lucky enough to be hosting two action films which will be shooting in and around New Orleans this spring. With the cast and crew of "The Expendables" and "Dead of Night" ready to take over the area the local production industry had to speed up their plans for a central hub for the projects. An abandoned warehouse once housing products for Winn Dixie needed an upgrade and fast, and local contractors were willing to oblige.

The 25-acre facility, with more than 500,000 square feet of warehouse space -- which officials said would make it the biggest studio this side of Albuquerque, N.M. -- would undergo a $40 million, tip-to-tail overhaul and reopen late this summer as the region's largest one-stop-shop for TV and film productions.

Things are brighter now, and crews for both films have been tackling pre-production work on the Louisiana Film Studios campus for several weeks. Cameras and a cadre of stars will begin arriving this week as eight weeks of principal photography gets under way on the supernatural thriller "Dead of Night," inspired by the Italian horror comics series "Dylan Dog" and starring "Superman Returns" actor Brandon Routh.

"The Expendables" -- starring Sylvester Stallone, who wrote the script and will also direct, Mickey Rourke, Forest Whitaker, Jet Li and Jason Statham -- will begin its eight-week local shoot April 27 after three weeks in Brazil.

    'Year One' Trailer Looks Promising

I had little-to-no hope of "Year One" being worth more than a laugh here or there, but the new trailer for the movie actually has me looking forward to the movie.

Jack Black and Michael Cera look well cast and I actually laughed out loud a few times (which I rarely do during trailers). Here's hoping the best parts aren't in the trailer.

"Year One" -- which also features Olivia Wilde, David Cross, Oliver Platt, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Hank Azaria, Vinnie Jones, Paul Rudd and Harold Ramis -- arrives in theaters starting June 19.

Matthew McConaughey is 'The Lincoln Lawyer'

According to Variety Matthew McConaughey has signed on to play Mickey Haller in Lakeshore Entertainments adaption of the Michael Connolly novel 'The Lincoln Lawyer'.

Matthew McConaughey is taking on the case of "The Lincoln Lawyer" for Lakeshore Entertainment.

The "Fool's Gold" thesp is attached to star in the legal thriller that centers on low-level criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller who finds himself representing a wealthy client with ties to a previous murder case Haller handled.

Project is based on a Michael Connolly best-seller that was published in 2005 by Little, Brown.

Lakeshore snapped up bigscreen rights to the tome six months before "Lincoln Lawyer" hit shelves in what was dubbed a seven-figure deal.

Stone Village Pictures' Scott Steindorff is producing "Lincoln Lawyer" alongside Lakeshore principals Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi.

I wonder if they find a role for Kate Hudson! It's cool to see McConaughey taking a lead role in a thriller after what seems like an endless run of rom coms. Ive not read the book although my Dad got it a few Christmases ago, but the reviews for it at Amazon are very postive so it will be interesting to see who comes on board to direct.
