New International Trailer 'Knight and Day'

A new international trailer for action comedy Knight and Day is online and can be watched using the player below! Opening in theaters on June 25, the film stars Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Peter Sarsgaard, Viola Davis, Olivier Martinez, Paul Dano, Maggie Grace, Mark Blucas and Jordi Molla.

Knight and Day centers on a lonely woman (Diaz) whose seemingly harmless blind date suddenly turns her life upside-down when a super spy (Cruise) takes her on a violent worldwide journey to protect a powerful battery that holds the key to an infinite power source. Grace is playing Diaz's sister, who is getting married, excited that Diaz will take the place of their late father and walk her down the aisle.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait for this. It looks great! Cruise has come back from the days of when he was "coo coo for coco puffs" and jumping on Oprah's coach to doing what he does best, shooting at people being awesome and sarcastic all while keeping his composure during an amazing car chase.

Check back on my birthday June 23 for my official review of "Knight and Day'

New Poster for 'Shrek Forever After'

DreamWorks Animation has released the new poster for Shrek Forever After, opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D on May 21. The Mike Mitchell-directed film features the voices of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, Jon Hamm, Kathy Griffin and Kristen Schaal.

As for the poster, its not really anything special. After Shrek 3 I haven't been expecting much from this franchise. You can check it out below.

In related news, The Hollywood Reporter says that DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg announced at the NAB convention in Las Vegas on Wednesday that the company is converting the first three "Shrek" movies to 3D for a Blu-ray Disc release.

"Our movies exist in digital files to begin with. To go back and rebuild to a quality 3D experience is not inexpensive, but we are about to achieve a pretty high quality result," Katzenberg said.

Mulroney's talk 'Sherlock Holmes 2'

Robert Downey Jr is successfully leading two franchises simultaneously, not an easy task to say the least.

After his very successful turn as Tony Stark in Iron Man, he now has Iron Man 2 which is set to hit theaters in just a few weeks, and will likely break box office records. Last year Downey also starred what few people expected to be the huge hit that it was, Sherlock Holmes. Coming out around Christmas and the same time as James Cameron's piece of garbage Avatar, it held its own quite nicely against the smurf on steroids earning a whopping 514 million world wide.

Of course, Warner Brothers was prepared for Holmes to go over well. Thus they went ahead and hired the husband-wife screen writing duo of Kieran and Michele Mulroney to write a sequel the summer before it opened.

The Mulroneys spoke for the first-time about the sequel to Collider.

They've been typing away at their keyboards since just before Holmes was released. Basically the studio wanted to know if they had any ideas and after a successful pitch, they were on-board. As expected, they've been working with director Guy Ritchie since.

What about the long-standing chatter of Brad Pitt appearing as Moriarty? The two were coy:

"I hope Brad likes it. Let's leave it at that. To be political, we should say nothing."

And as Jamie over at IESBpoints out, Either negotiations went to Hell or the studio wants to officially announce Pitt themselves. With filming expected to start later this fall (after Downey finishes Gravity with director Alfonso Cuarón), it was about time we started hearing something.

I would have to agree with Jamie as well, I think they will position this as their big 2011 Christmas tent pole.

Haley Atwell is Peggy Carter in "Captain America"

Marvel Studios today confirmed that British actress Hayley Atwell has landed the female lead in Captain America: The First Avenger (notice the switch in the title). Here's the full press release:

Marvel Studios announced today that Hayley Atwell has been cast to star as Peggy Carter in the studio's highly anticipated movie CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER opposite Chris Evans. In the early comics, Peggy Carter fell in love with Captain America while they fought together in the war effort. The character will be updated for the feature adaptation. Joe Johnston will direct the film penned by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely.

At least we didn't end up with the same casting scenario that went on with the lead Captain America, and is now going on with Spider-Man.

Chloe Moretz Talks Hit Girl from 'Kick-Ass'

Latino Review had the chance to talk with Chloe Moretz about her role as Hit Girl in the up coming R rated comic book adaption Kick-Ass. Moretz was in the remake of "Amityville Horror," as well as in "(500) Days of Summer." He character in that film was a stereotype included for stereotype purposes, but she made her "wise little sister" seem more necessary than it was.

When asked what it was like to play the character, " It was a lot of fun. It was hard though. It was something that I've never done before. I got to play this character that is out of my league. It's something that I've never dabbled in before. That's really why I wanted to do it, because it was so unique." She also had to under go rigorous training to get in shape for the character, unlike her co-stars who didn't have to train at all, As for what the training was like she said " I worked with UCLA's top gymnasts and the Jackie Chan stunt crew and the '300' stunt crew and I worked with one of the top tumblers in the world and gymnasts and ballet and gymnastics. It was so hard. But it was something that I really loved because I'm very athletic."

She also admitted she hadn't actually read the comic prior to audtioning for the role, "I hadn't. I wasn't allowed. In the comic, you know it's very violent. It's even more violent I'd say than the movie. I mean I don't chop someone's head in half in the movie." After getting the part, and not having read the comic yet, she agreed the script was very similar to the comics from what she had heard, " I read the script and the script was a lot like the comic I hear. I saw one and three of the comic but not the whole thing because I was looking at pictures."

Heisserer and Haley on 'Nightmare On Elm Street'

Bloody-disgusting had the chance to talk to both Eric Heisserer (writer) and Jackie Earle Haley (Freddy) while doing an on set visit during the filming of the 'new nightmare'.

When heisserer had the following to say about the "micro-naps", which we've seen some of in the trailers as well as heard about in previous interviews, "I did a lot of research, I guess it was method writing at that point of time," he explains. "I had a small window to come back with a significant story, so I was really up late many nights and found some evidence online about sleep deprivation and what happens to the body and mind and I took that concept and ran with it and created the micro naps that we use"

It was also revealed that the finale in the remake varies much differently then the original, Eric explains that they didn't struggle with that decision, "I don't think there was a struggle for that we just found ourselves not glued to the story and taking it to a place that seemed darkest, scariest and most intense for all of the characters and that went from Nancy's house in the original to where it takes place now."

As for his interpretations of Freddy, Eric talks a bit about developing the character and the ideas for doing crazy gimmicks like having Freddy's arm stretch.

"Oh sure, [there were] many ideas and some of it was this trial and error, and some of it was once we got Sam on board he certainly put his own vision of what he wanted to accomplish, what tricks he wanted to try and it is sort of a playground or sandbox for this type of movie. What things do we have Freddy do? What things did we love from the original? There were visual cues we both adored and we wanted to find homes for in this and then there were things we wanted to make sure were new and different and would allow for loyal fans and people who haven' seen the movies before some surprises and we will see after filming how well they transferred."

He continues talking about making Freddy scary and not comical.

"You know, in the original he's not [comical], I mean it turns into that and similarly to when u look at a number of the franchises, like LETHAL WEAPON, the original was dark and then it turns into sort of a comedy, but we looked at Craven's first nightmare and that's really where we wanted to have our home, this really scary, scary story."

Jackie had the following to say of Freddy's new look, "It started at six [a.m.], I think it worked its way down to 3:20. It's been an amazing experience; I like to call it, ‘the make-up chair torture,'" Haley jokes. "It was nice to discover after all of these years it was Robert who was the one being tortured on all of these movies... the irony! The make-up is really arduous, it's taken a while to get used to it, but the entire way been really worth it, just because it looks so good."

It looks like the make-up gets into his eye-line, but that's not the real pain.

"That doesn't phase me at all compared to the contact lenses, the fake finger tips, and then they put blades over here; you can't even pee!"

Speaking of becoming the new Freddy Krueger, Jackie Earle Haley talks a bit about making this character his own.

"I think it is important to make this version my own - but be very aware Robert's work from prior," he explains. "Because Freddy is a very iconic character, made so by Robert. But this is kind of a re-envisioning, so I think it was important to make it my own, and to work with Sam along that line. What his vision is-is so pertinent in all of this." He continues, "To simplify this, to boil it down, I think what we're doing different is to make the movie a little bit more serious; a little bit scarier."

Haley reflects back on his first day the Dream Demon, Freddy Krueger.

"It was great. There's a little process with acting, it's almost with any part. You delve it and you start to do work with the screenplay. Looking at the character, looking at the curve. Then you do some research, what makes this guy tick, there's stuff outside to look at. You start to play with the character, you try and put the pieces together."

He continues, "There's something really informative about the first several times when you start to commit to stuff, because you're finally really dipping the paint brush into some paint, and your putting something on to the canvas. It is informative, you can sit back and say, ‘What did we do there?' The painting is starting, it starts to become more clear. Usually the first half of the project, there's this going on (pointing to the outer appearance of his make-up). Somewhere along the line that starts to go away, and everything start to settle in, and the character starts to become more natural. That's a fun process."

Jeff Daniels, The Author

Comingsoon.net has released the official poster for 'Paper Man'.

Continuing his role as a down an out writer from the 'Squid and the Whale', Jeff Daniels stars in the April 23rd release of 'Paper Man'.

The story is about a failed author who learns to grow out of his childish habits and behavior with the help of a young teen girl, all the while his wife and imaginary superhero friend disapprove.

Also starring Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds and Lisa Kudrow.

The costume of Paper Man reminds me a bit of Martian Manhunter with color alterations. I am intrigued by the poster and it sounds like the movie will be a light hearted, fun comedy. I sure do miss that wonderful beard Daniels was sporting in 'The Squid and the Whale' though.

Webs Of Doubt For Logan Lerman?

Webs of rumors continue to spin out of the soon to rebooted Spider-Man franchise. It was recently reported that Logan Lerman from Percy Jackson fame was a sure bet to be cast in the lead role. Interesting news from IESB claims that Josh Hutcherson has slung his name into the mix as

Hutcherson has starred in "Zathura" and "RV", with his latest role being in "The Vampire's Assistant". His name hasn't been set in stone for the #1 pick for everyone's favorite web head but with the direction the reboot seems to be geared towards, he fits the mold quite well.

I get the sense of a more "Ultimate Spider-Man" themed film this time around, which may be a nice change from the Raimi films in order to rejuvenate the character.

New Clip from 'Nightmare On Elm Street'

Yahoo!Movies and Warner Bros have released a new clip from the "Nightmare On Elm Street" remake. In the clip Nancy (Rooney Mara) enters a what looks to be a drug store and realizes she's actually asleep as everything around her begins to flicker between the boiler room to the drug store, until Freddy starts to get closer. This close up look of him, looks great by the way.

This gives us a "little" more insight as to how the remake will play out, its obvious Freddy is no longer the comedian serial killer he once was in the original franchise of the 80's, but that's probably for the better. After the first few, the sequels started to really go down hill. I honestly hope that Platinum Dunes is able to bring this iconic character back to horror prominence once again.
