First Images From Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

ComingSoon.Net has gotten hold of the first pics from the sequel to 2007's Ghost Rider, yes they are making a sequel, I'm not sure why exactly as the first was not a huge hit either critically or financially, but the guys behind Crank are making one along with Nice Cage who returns in the titular role.

As for these first images, well the only really interesting one looks like a work in progress, but apparently the footage at SDCC got a decent response so time will tell. I personally think Ghost Rider is a cool character with a great visual for cinema, kind of like a demonic Terminator, so hopefully this second effort does him justice.

More Goodbyes From Hogwarts

Now that most of us in the Muggle world have most likely seen the final Harry Potter film, many of us more than once (twice for me), the folks at Warner Bros have taken time out from drooling over the $834 million the movie has grossed worldwide so far to share this video of the cast and crew reflecting on their last days working on the film:

I can't get over just how little those kids were back during their first screen test.

That definitely looks like something that would be included on an upcoming DVD/blu-ray release.  While it's obviously a little too early for that news yet, Universal Orlando did announce today that they will be holding an event in November called A Celebration of the Harry Potter Films, which will have all kinds of Pottermania madness including screenings of all eight Harry Potter films, Q&A sessions with cast & crew members, and of course, a chance to visit and spend lots of money at the theme park's mega-popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

According to Universal's official site, vacation packages for the event will include a blu-ray set of the Harry Potter films.  The event is being held November 11-13, so the timing sounds about right.  I'd bank that this is around when we'll be seeing a Deathly Hallows Part 2 DVD/blu-ray release.

Hopefully we'll be getting news on whatever they're planning as far as a blu-ray box set of the entire series soon.  That's definitely what I'm waiting for.

33 Trapped Chilean Miners Climb To The Big Screen

Academy Award-nominated producer Mike Medavoy and representatives of the 33 Chilean Miners, whose remarkable rescue from the San José Mine last year captivated the world’s attention, jointly announced today that they have entered into an agreement to bring the miners' extraordinary story to the screen. Academy Award-nominated screenwriter José Rivera (MOTORCYCLE DIARIES) is set to adapt. The film will recount the events surrounding the mine's collapse and the subsequent rescue efforts, which culminated in the emotional retrieval of all 33 miners after 69 days trapped half a mile beneath the surface.

“Like millions of people around the world, I was completely engrossed watching the rescue at Copiapó. At its heart, this is a story about the triumph of the human spirit and a testament to the courage and perseverance of the Chilean people. I can't think of a better story than this one to bring to the screen,” said Medavoy.

“One year after the collapse of the mine, we consider this to be a great step towards the realization of a film based on our experience in the mine. This is the only official and authorized film about what we lived in the San José mine. Much of our story has never been told,” said miner Juan Andrés Illanes.

Mike Medavoy and Edward McGurn, Medavoy’s Vice-President at Phoenix Pictures, will produce through Medavoy’s recently formed Half Circle banner. Prominent Chilean entrepreneurs Carlos Eugenio Lavín and Leopoldo Enriquez will Executive Produce. Lavin is a childhood friend of Medavoy's from his years in Chile, and Enriquez is a long time associate. Medavoy was born in Shanghai, China in 1941 and lived in Chile from 1947 to 1957.

Medavoy recently produced Martin Scorsese’s SHUTTER ISLAND, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley and Max Von Sydow. Medavoy also produced last year’s critically acclaimed BLACK SWAN, directed by Darren Aronofsky, which won numerous awards, including the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Actress for Natalie Portman.

Medavoy and the team at Phoenix Pictures, which includes Arnie Messer, Brad Fischer, David Thwaites and Douglas McKay, start production on July 26th on WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING for Lionsgate, directed by Kirk Jones and starring Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, and a host of other stars. Thwaites is handling onset production on the project and McKay is co-producing.

In parallel to the film, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Héctor Tobar is writing the official book on the miners’ story, using never before divulged details, including material from the diary of miner Víctor Segovia, written during his time underground, which has being kept strictly under wraps up to this point.

The 33 miners are represented by WME and the law firm of Arent Fox in the United States and Carey y Cía in Chile. José Rivera is represented by ICM.

Production on the film is scheduled to start in 2012.

Judge Dredd Takes Over Empire Magazine

I don't know why they are making another Judge Dredd flick but here I am writing about it, again. I will say that these photos and the previous couple that have been revealed look miles better than what we witnessed win the Rocky Stallone version. These shots present a much more realistic and gritty tone, not all that original since a lot of these others reboots are doing the same thing, but better than the glossy look we were treated with during the Rambo Balboa run.

Empire via ComingSoon.Net has some new shots you can enjoy below.

Lucifer from Paradise Lost Kinda Looks like Bradley Cooper

Straight from their official site (and following the Comic-Con panel where there wasn't exactly swarms of hard-core info or footage to show off, since a single frame has yet to be captured), Legendary Pictures has released this artwork from Alex Proyas' Paradise Lost showing off our first look, for lack of a better term, at Bradley Cooper as Lucifer.

Remember though, kids, this is a motion-capture production so there's no telling how much of that A-Team/Hangover mug will translate over to the traditional mo-cap zombie look.

A Second "The Amazing Spider-Man" Poster

We already saw a "The Amazing Spider-Man" poster thanks to SDCC but it was a shot of suit from the back, this one is a similar shot, but it is from the front. So in other words, still not very original, nor is it very exciting. However, it is supposed to be a teaser poster, and dammit, it teases Spider-Man.

"Man Of Steel" Photos & Videos: Cavill Out Of Hiding

Breaking news to fandom that Henry Cavill finally had come out of hiding and made an appearance at SDCC but alas, it wasn't to talk Superman. Cavill was in attendance to talk shop at "The Immortals" panel. According to the LA Times he adores the "Man Of Steel" script. Shocker.

"It's one of the best scripts I've ever read. I'm quite humbled by the whole experience and can't wait to get started."

That's great, and I am sure the script is good, but what is the guy going to say? "The script is just medicore, you shit Goyer. You too Jonahthan Nolan or whatever the hell your name is."

Collider was also able to catch up with Cavill, and in light of the geeked up Garfield showing up in a fan inspired costume at "The Amazing Spider-Man" panel, they had an interesting question for him:

COLLIDER: While he was at Comic-Con, Andrew Garfield spoke about the awesome responsibility of stepping into the Spider-Man costume. Are you thinking about that with Superman?

CAVILL: It's very humbling to be chosen to represent such an enormous character with so much depth to it as well, but at the same time, it's a true honor. I want to do justice to the character and I want to be the right guy for the job. I want to prove them right, much like Zeus.

On top of that several blog and news outlets caught up with Cavill. All of the videos are below for your viewing pleasure.

I'm not going to post the video because it always ends up teetering to the left, so click the above link to view.

Immortals Round Table

Last but not least, SupermanHomePage.Com has some photos and a video from the set of Smallville built in Plano, Illinois.

As you can see by the above video and the below photos, there has been a lot of progress made since the last photos and video that surfaced. I see that gas station again, I am still wondering if this means "Superman: For All Seasons" or not. One can hope there are some elements from that run.

Also from Steve Younnis and co, the photos of the IHOP sign making it's way via truck to Plano, Illinois aka Smallville. If you take a minute to remember about a month back, the site originally told the rest of us geeks that Superman would be flying through an IHOP sign. Below is the proof to back up their info. Super Pancakes?

"The Avengers" Hulk Comic-Con Poster

The final poster from the Marvel Comic-Con collection featuring all major members of "The Avengers". What is interesting about the concept art for Hulk is you can compare it to the two previous movies to compare and contrast this version of Hulk.

The Mortal Kombat: Legacy Finale

In episode 9, written and directed by Kevin Tancharoen, Cyrax and Sektor are chosen to be the future of the Lin Kuei by the Grand Master, but Cyrax is less than enthusiastic about giving his life over to a cybernetic transformation that will erase his memories and turn him into the ultimate fighting machine. When he discovers that the cyborg he is fighting seems closely familiar, Sektor must keep Cyrax focused on destroying Hydro, and not himself or their future...

"Snow White & The Huntsman" Promo Images

Two Snow White projects, too little time. On Thursday we were treated with the first promo image of the lovely Lilly Collins as Snow White in Tarsem Singh's version of the mythos. Not to be out done Universal Pictures decided to unveil the first promo images from "Snow White & The Huntsman" just after the SDCC panel.

You can see just from the promo images these flicks are going to be vastly different from one another, and they have to be considering the movies are about the same character, coming out in the same year, just months apart from one another.

Based strictly on the first promo image Singh's "Earlier Snow White" (March 16th, 2012) looks more fantastical and colorful. Think "Wizard Of Oz" meets "Alice In Wonderland" with a twist of Twim Burton via Disney. On the other hand, "Huntsman" has more of a "Lord Of The Rings" meets "Clash Of The Titans" with a side of Ridley Scott via Lionsgate.
