Anne Hathaway Looks Purrfect On Set Of "The Dark Knight Rises"

I apologize for the title, I just had to do it. I promise I will try and not do it again.

A lot of set pictures are flowing like a the liquid concoction from the Lazarus Pits and forming a pool of photos on websites across the interwebs. It's a tad askew to have all this advance access into the filming of "The Dark Knight Rises", when Nolan is known for keeping things close to the cowl, and has on past Batman films.

That being thrown out there, it's pretty damn cool to get a glimpse into production, might be a luxury for some of you. The first image of feisty Anne Hathaway as Catwoman didn't exactly cause fanboys to rise as much as you would expect. Here are some more photos of Anne in a skin tight Catwoman suit. I'm not sure where the heck they originated but tell me what you think. Photos below.

New Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol Still

Not sure where this initially came from but a friend put me onto this new image from MI:GP that was found on this photobucket account. Looks like a team meeting and the looks suggest Ethan's team don't trust Renner much!

Brad Pitt To Be The Gray Man?

Over a year ago it was announced that New Regency Pictures had hired Adam Cozad to adapt Mark Greaney's 2009 thriller novel 'The Gray Man', then earlier this year it was announced that James Gray (We Own The Night) had been hired to direct it.

Now news comes from Variety via Comingsoon.Net that Brad Pitt may well be taking on the titular role.

Brad Pitt is eyeing the lead role of Court Gentry in the upcoming Mark Greaney adaptation, The Gray Man, Variety reports.

The film will be directed by James Gray (We Own the Night) and will feature a script by Adam Cozad (the upcoming Jack Ryan reboot). Adapting the first entry in Greaney's book series, the story focuses on Gentry, a former CIA operative turned assassin-for-hire. The official description of the first book is as follows:

Court Gentry is known as The Gray Man-a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, and then fading away. And he always hits his target. But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness.

Now, he is going to prove that for him, there's no gray area between killing for a living-and killing to stay alive.

The second book in the series, "On Target" was released last year with a third, "Ballistic", planned for next month.

I love the espionage genre and Pitt is a good actor who hasn't been in a spy movie since Tony Scott's underrated 'Spy Game' 10 years ago. I actually own both books but haven't read them yet, however if the plan is for this to be Pitt's Bourne franchise they better get a move on, as the actor turns 48 later this year. My only real concern is the director as this isn't his usual sort of thing.

Red Hair Warning: Amy Adams On The Set Of "Man Of Steel"

After debating the merit of every hair follicle on Henry Cavill's head and the color of Lawrence Fishburne's skin, fanboys might have something new to nerdplode about. The ManOfSteel Facebook Page has some new stills of the lovely Amy Adams on the set of Man Of Steel and believe it or not, she doesn't have brown hair! Can you imagine that, Lois Lane depicted without brown hair? That's comic blasphemy!

Before anybody lights their basement on fire, it is all together possible that Amy isn't in "costume". The previous Lois Lane via "Superman Returns", Kate Bosworth, wore a wig if I remember correctly. They had to hide cute Kate's golden locks. On the other hand, Adams might be going the strawberry blonde or whatever that color is route for this version of Superman. I'm perfectly fine with it. We're not splitting atoms here, we're fans of a fictional character that has a red cape and flies.

Mirkwood Fictional Biography Planned

A fictional biography on the life of J.R.R. Tolkien has been picked up by EMO Films. Steve Hillard, author of the book the film is based upon, signed a deal with the company to get the book translated to screen. The Hollywood Reporter was able to get a few words from Hillard;

"The adaptation of Mirkwood will follow the template of the novel," said Hillard, "but will delve considerably deeper into Tolkien's little-known back story, such as his original plans to become a codebreaker in World War II up through the writing of his enduring works."

Hillard hasn't been long removed from disputing claims from the Tolkien folk that his book would be infringement of the J.R.R. name and his work. I assume Hillard kindly said, "Hey. I made it up. It's a fiction about a fiction." and they politely replied, "Away with you then." He did get to publish the book citing that it's "literary criticism" and as long as the title held a disclaimer about it not being endorsed by Tolkien Estate or publisher.

I had never heard of the book until I read the article on THR, but it actually sounds like a very interesting read. I'm looking forward to how they work out the film version and which way they choose to market it.

Description of the book below:
"Mirkwood" tells of Tolkien hiding secret documents that the forces of evil will do anything to obtain, and the young orphan girl, Cadence, who discovers them. In the opening pages of Hillard's novel, world-renowned author and linguist Tolkien lands in New York City on a mysterious errand. He carries with him a collection of ancient documents, many in an unknown language that hint of a heroine, a halfling named Ara, who lived in the same ancient landscape that inspired Tolkien's Middle-earth.

Fearing that possession of the documents will lead to great harm, Tolkien entrusts them to a simple scissor sharpener named Jesse Grande. Almost four decades later, Grande has disappeared and the documents have been found by Grande's orphaned granddaughter, Cadence. As dark forces from the realm of fantasy hunt down the documents and their guardian, Cadence must protect the story of Ara.

Real Steel: Entertainment Tonight Preview

I'm looking forward to this one, mainly because Hugh Jackman is in it, but also because it just looks like it could be a lot of fun.  Hopefully, it will at least be better than the most recent god-awful Transformers movie.  Entertainment Tonight recently previewed some behind-the-scenes footage from Real Steel, including lots of fighing robots, training with Sugar Ray Leonard (seriously!), and some new footage from the film:

Looks pretty cool.  Real Steel, which will not be in 3D (I like it already!) opens in theaters on October 7.

Action Avengers

Superherohype has a great new video of a bunch of ants running around from the Avengers shoot in Cleveland, courtesy of one of their forum members. Wait, that's actually people. Looks like something big is going on in the thick of the city and what sort of superhero film would it be without such a sequence. Check out a few images below of the chaos.

Warner Bros. Previews New Harry Potter Studio Tour

Well, we knew they weren't going to let Universal Orlando have all the fun.  Now that the Harry Potter movies have wrapped up, Warner Bros has found an ingenious way to keep that wizarding money train rolling by opening up a studio tour at England's Leavesden Studios, where all 8 Harry Potter films were shot.  Visiting Muggles will be able to tour the sets of the films, as well as check out props, costumes, and all things Harry Potter that the filmmakers were wise enough to hang on to once the movies were finished.

You can check out an early preview of the tour here:

I have a feeling that's going to be very popular.  The tour is scheduled to open in Spring 2012, and pre-sale tickets will be available starting October 13.  You can check out their official site for more details.

For anyone looking to check out some great Harry Potter stuff stateside, you still have another few weeks to check out Harry Potter: The Exhibition at NY's Discovery Center in Times Square.  That exhibit includes also includes a ton of props and costumes from all of the films, as well as the opportunity to do some fun stuff like sit in Hagrid's giant chair, plant some Mandrakes, and even play a little Quidditch.  That exhibit ends on September 5 before moving on to its next stop in Australia.  It was a lot of fun, so definitely check it out if you get a chance.
