The Wicked Witch Of The West Unveiled!

All Hallows’ Eve is upon us! so there could be no more fitting a time for Sean Gates and Clayton Spinney to release a clip of the Wicked Witch of the West from their independent adaption of L. Frank Baum's 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'.

I think it's a fantastic clip dripping with atmosphere and menace with a great performance from Marie Rizza as the Wicked Witch of the West , this is not the sing along Oz many are used to, it's a much darker and truer adaption of the book.

Check out the clip below and go to the official site to learn more about the production. The film is set to release on November 23rd, 2012.

Awesome Pics From The TDKR Set In New York!

The new Batwing was in action in New York and looking as awesome as ever in these shots. hovering over Bane's mass destruction device that kinda looks like that torture ball Vader used on Leia in A New Hope.

That's not all!!!! We heard about some filming in LA with Bane's mercs riding around on bikes with hostages strapped to the back but no pics were obtained. Now in New York that has changed as shots of them filming an action sequence have hit the net.

All pics by FaNGuY over at the SHH Boards.

Weekend Box Office: October 28-30

Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly:

1.  Puss in Boots - $34 million

2.  Paranormal Activity 3 - $18.5 million

3.  In Time - $12 million

4.  Footloose - $5.4 million

5.  The Rum Diary - $5 million

6.  Real Steel - $4.7 million

7.  The Three Musketeers - $3.5 million

8.  The Ides of March - $2.7 million

9.  Moneyball - $2.4 million

10.  Courageous - $1.8 million

I'll bet no one expected a freak snowstorm to be affecting the Northeast during the last weekend in October, but that's exactly what happened this weekend, although this Halloween weekend seemed fairly slow at the box office regardless.  Dreamworks' Shrek spin-off, Puss In Boots, opened with an estimated $34 million, just barely beating Saw III's $33.6 million in 2003 to claim the Halloween box office record.  Still, with a budget reportedly over $100 million, Puss in Boots may have the same kind of problems Real Steel (which drops to 6th place this week) is having making that money back.  However, it should hold up well with the family crowd until The Muppets and Happy Feet 2 open next month.

Meanwhile, horror fans seemed to get their Paranormal Activity rush out of their systems last week, as the third film in the ever-growing franchise dropped a whopping (but expected) 65% to earn $18.5 million.  Although, with a reported $5 million budget, we'll be seeing a fourth film for sure by this time next year.  Hell, they can even save money by making a film out of everything from the trailers that didn't make it into this movie (in other words, the entire trailer).

Yet it was better to be a descending horror movie than any of the other new releases this weekend, as sci-fi thriller In Time floundered with just $12 million.  The weekend wasn't great for Johnny Depp either, as The Rum Diary tanked with only $5 million.  The remake of Footloose continues to make money for some reason, that film finished the weekend in fourth place with another $5.4 million.

The holiday season kicks off next weekend with the releases of A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas (in 3D!) and the Ben Stiller/Eddie Murphy comedy Tower Heist.  Happy Halloween, everyone!

Deathly Hallows 2 Deleted Scenes

A few deleted scenes from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 have surfaced online.  These will be included on the upcoming 2-disc blu-ray edition (presumably without the subtitles).  Some interesting stuff, if not terribly crucial to the flow of the movie, although we do learn how Luna ended up back at Hogwarts.  We do get a nice scene between Lupin and Tonks, which mentions their newborn son Teddy...although with only one line in the previous movie vaguely mentioning that Tonks was even pregnant, that probably would have confused moviegoers who hadn't read the book.

Anyway, you can check out the deleted scens below, courtesy of Mugglenet:

I can't wait to watch this movie again.  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 arrives in stores on November 11.  And if you're in a panic to get your copy before WB goes the Disney route and vaults their Harry Potter collection at the end of the year...don't be.  According to The Digital Bits, the big Harry Potter box set most of us have been waiting for now that the series has ended will be out at the end of next year.

Stallone Enters The Tomb

This one had Bruce Willis attached to it for a quite a while, as well as director Antoine Fuqua, now another 80's Icon Sly Stallone has stepped in to take the lead role.

I love the premise but I think Willis was a better choice for this type of role, still, it's great to see Sly getting roles outside of those in the films he writes, directs and produces. Hopefully Summit can get a good helmer attached soon.

The news comes from Variety:

Sylvester Stallone is breathing life into "The Tomb" for Summit and Emmett/Furla Films.

The two companies have been trying to get the pic off the ground for some time, and the project has seen a revolving door of action vets come and go. Antoine Fuqua was once attached to direct and Bruce Willis originally positioned to star. After Willis moved on, Arnold Schwarzenegger considered the pic for his post-politics bigscreen return.

Schwarzenegger instead chose Lionsgate's "Last Stand" and Fuqua moved on to direct "Southpaw" for MGM, leaving "The Tomb" in a holding pattern.

Now, with Stallone onboard, the producers will look for a helmer to replace Fuqua. No production start date has been set.

Story follows Ray Breslin, the world's foremost authority on structural security -- specifically prisons. His skills are put to the test when he is framed and put in a high-security prison of his own design and must find the person who put him there.

Miles Chapman wrote the action screenplay, with Jason Keller providing a rewrite.

News, Rumors & 100% Grade-A Internet Bullshit - October 28, 2011

- When we heard that Evil Dead remake was happening, I thought they'd switch the gender of the lead this time out. You know, to make it different from the Sam Raimi/Bruce Campbell trilogy. Not so, as per Bloody-Disgusting, who after some deep digging discovered a plot point as to why five college kids would even go out to a log cabin in the middle of nowhere for a weekend, besides all the sex, drinking and deer mooning. Our hero, who we're guessing won't be named Ashley J. Williams, takes his younger sister to their family's cabin in an attempt to wean her off a drug addiction.

- Craig Gillespie is the latest filmmaker to spend months of his life working on Pride & Prejudice and Zombies only to walk, reports "TOLDJA." If this ever gets made (Most likely since Lionsgate is Hellbent and zombies are hot thanks to The Walking Dead), the IMDB Trivia section will be filled with all the gory details of the directors and actors this got thrown at. Suggestions, anyone?

- Perfectly alright Access Hollywood puff piece on David Giuntoli, star of NBC's Grimm premiering tonight against the World Series which means none of us will watch, reveals the li'l factoid he tested for The Man of Steel. The guy looks like the last cinematic Kal-El Brandon Routh's little brother. Factor in how Routh was seriously touted within certain high-ranking offices in Burbank to retain his old job and the fact everyone is right-mindedly distancing themselves from Bryan Singer's 2006 sequel, you see how this is odd.

- Daily Mail reports in addition to the likes of Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney has joined the cast of Bond (2)3, presumably playing M's boss, which is great because who hasn't been begging to see Judi Dench get laid onscreen?

The Final (they promise!) Muppets Parody Trailer

You knew we weren't going to make it all the way to the release of The Muppets next month without one more of these parody trailers, right?

In what they promise is the last of the clever Muppets spoof trailers (honestly, did you ever envision The Hangover 2 as a movie you'd see a Muppets trailer in front of?), the gang goes for broke by spoofing Paranormal Activity 3, Puss in Boots, Happy Feet 2, Breaking Dawn, and...their own original teaser trailer.

I'll take a Twilight movie starring Pepe the Prawn over the current version any day.

The Muppets opens in theaters on November 23.

Redbox Wants More Of Our Money

A price increase from a kiosk that already only charges you a dollar and change to rent a movie isn't anything to tweet about. I usually go for the Blu Ray anyway which costs a little bit more per night. Kudos to the company for making the announcement before there was too much leakage.

On a side note, when I was looking for a photo to go with this post I simply typed in "Redbox" in the search bar. On the second page or so there was a photo of a redheaded woman wearing jeans sprawled out on a bed. You got me again Google.

Redbox is making an announcement about its prices today, and we want to make sure that you hear it from us first.

Starting on Monday, October 31, the daily rental charge for DVDs will change to $1.20 a day.* The price change is due to rising operating expenses, including new increases in debit card fees. Daily rental charges for Blu-ray™ Discs and video games won't change.** Additional-day charges for DVDs rented before 10/31 won't be affected, either.

In order to make the transition easier, Redbox will discount the first day of all online DVD rentals to $1.00 from 10/31 through 11/30. Additional rental days will be $1.20.***
If you have any questions, please visit redbox.com/pricechange. There, we've provided additional information.

This marks our first price change in more than eight years as we work hard to keep prices low for our customers.

Thank you,
Redbox
