Trailer For "Stitches"

World renowned British standup comedian Ross Noble stars as a murderous kids’ birthday party clown for Director Conor McMahon (Dead MeatThe Disturbed) in STITCHES, debuting with special April Fools’ Day screenings in select cities on April 1, 2013.   For fans who can’t catch the rampage on the big screen, STITCHES will be available on VOD, Digital Download, Blu-ray, and DVD on April 2 from MPI /Dark Sky Films.

Years after a cruel kids’ prank during a birthday party for 8-year-old Tommy (Tommy KnightDoctor Who, The Sarah Jane Adventures) left hired clown Richard “Stitches” Grindle (Ross Noble) dead on the kitchen floor, the childhood friends gather to plan a birthday bash to end all bashes. But they haven’t counted on the degenerate jester rising from the grave to seek vengeance on the children who mocked him and caused his grisly, untimely end.

Now Tommy and his teenage friends are on the run from an undead jokester who’s ready to use every trick in the book (and many that aren’t) to exact his revenge. Dead Meat writer-director Conor McMahon delivers a delirious slasher epic, a hilariously twisted and blood-soaked tale of one very bad clown with a talent for making balloon animals – but with one very hideous difference.

Production Begins on George Clooney's 'The Monuments Men'

Fresh off producing the recent Best Picture winner, Argo, George Clooney and his buddy Grant Heslov (yes, that's the guy from True Lies) are starting production on their next project, The Monuments Men.

The film boasts an all-star cast that includes Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, John Goodman, and of course, Clooney himself who will also direct.

The story centers around the true events of a unlikely platoon of museum directors who are given the task of venturing behind enemy lines during World War II to rescue precious artistic masterpieces before their destruction at the hands of Nazis.

Read below for the full press release as The Monuments Men is set for release later this year on December 18th.

Columbia Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox announced today that The Monuments Men, a Smokehouse production directed by and starring George Clooney, has started production in Berlin, Germany. The action-thriller is written by Clooney & Grant Heslov, based on the book by Robert M. Edsel with Bret Witter. Clooney and Heslov also produce the film through their Smokehouse Productions. It is their first production since winning the Academy Award® for Best Picture for their work on Argo. Barbara A. Hall is executive producer. The Monuments Men is a co-production with Germany’s Siebente Babelsberg Film GmbH, a subsidiary of Studio Babelsberg AG. Charlie Woebcken, Christoph Fisser and Henning Molfenter serve as co-producers. Sony Pictures will release the film domestically, with Twentieth Century Fox handling international territories.

The all-star cast includes Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville, and John Goodman.

Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men focuses on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed? But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.

Clooney’s crew on The Monuments Men includes director of photography Phedon Papamichael, ASC, Oscar®-nominated production designer Jim Bissell, Academy Award®-winning editor Stephen Mirrione, A.C.E., costume designer Louise Frogley, and five-time Oscar® nominated composer Alexandre Desplat.

The Monuments Men continues filming in Germany and the United Kingdom through the end of June. It is scheduled for domestic release on December 18, 2013.

New Iron Man 3 Trailer

"Today is the first day of what's left of your life."

Still nary a trace of the traditionally, high-flying "fun" from Shellhead's earlier cinematic entries, plus The Avengers, but that's so appealing about everything presented for Iron Man 3. This time... shit gets real and there doesn't appear to be anything Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) can do to buy, and more appropriately charm, his way out of trouble.

The newest trailer is up courtesy of Yahoo! Movies. Take a gander and yes, that looks like the Hulkbuster armor to me too:

Harrison Ford Will Give a Damn in Anchorman: The Legend Continues

These days, I associate Ralph Garman's dead on impression of Harrison Ford more than his films. Hey, he'll always be Indiana Jones in my heart (and like many, I still want to be Indy when I grow up) but I'm not sure he's all there anymore. For the last decade, he's that mumbling old dude, with an earring, who used to be Indiana Jones, Han Solo, Jack Ryan, President Air Force One and the Guy Who Didn't Kill His Wife (and Tommy Lee Jones didn't care!)

Every time there's Ford news, I always give Jon Favreau shit for "Harrison Ford gives a damn in Cowboys & Aliens, guys!" Kidding aside, I too want to see Ford a damn again. Damn it! And The Hollywood Reporter has just the oddball/genius casting that could do it. He's joined rank for Anchorman: The Legend Continues as "a legendary newscaster a la Tom Brokaw."

Long as Ford is in the zone, and aware of his surroundings, this is great news. And it has me more excited seeing him act again than Old Fart Solo in Episode VII. I can't wait to see the next Star Wars, but please leave Ford out of this, J.J.

Halle Berry Added to the List of X-Men: Days of Future Past Extended Cameos

Her deal to return after the notorious X2: X-Men United on-set spat off versus Bryan Singer was to give Storm more stuff to do, and more money (Duh). A silly request since she had a nice B-plot with Nightcrawler and even played up the possibly she was racist towards humans. But she got what she wanted and Storm had lots of... stuff to do in X-Men: The Last Stand like fight people... and stuff. No, that awful haircut doesn't count.

But that threequel came and went and Halle Barry's career went with it.

This weekend during the promotional rounds for The Call (Opens next Friday, closes Saturday morning, out in Wal-Mart Discount DVD bins Sunday afternoon), she told Blackfilm she was returning for X-Men: Days of Future Past. It didn't come directly from Singer's Twitter feed so we were all apprehensive at first. But no, it's true. And that's cool. She made a good Ororo Munroe.

Irony is she'll stick around long enough to get stomped on by a Sentinel before Wolverine and someone else (Kitty Pryde, right?) time travels back to the 70s for a Disco Dance Fight against Michael Fassbender's Magneto. Expect a wheelchair race between the two Professor Xs too.

Christopher Nolan Doing What WB/DC Can't - Get Justice League Going?

"How do we go up against... that!?"

There is little doubt that was the question Burbank executives asked themselves following The Avengers' monumental success last summer.

Made worse by the fact their counterpoint to the Marvel juggernaut, Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy was wrapping up before their very eyes. So while The Dark Knight Rises was the mega financial bread-winner as expected, Warner Brothers was back at Square One and no closer to Justice League, the logical answer to The Avengers.

Lots of chatter, lots of attempts and lots of directors offered with no bites at the apple. They're in a corner they can't get themselves out of. And like three years ago as they sat powerless (in this case, directionless) over what to do with Superman in order to keep the rights on their home-turf, they're turning to a familiar and reliable face to get them out of their rut.

Christopher Nolan.

Latino Review reports Nolan will anchor (ahem "Godfather" – remember that term bantered about in 2010) a Superman/Batman feature to the silver screen. It could be Justice League. It could be World's Finest. The important part is its Krypton's Last Son and the World's Greatest Detective together for the first time at the multiplexes. And like Bats trapped against the Gotham police with a drugged-up Rachel Dawes, Nolan's brought backup. Well... maybe. They speculate David Goyer could write, Zack Snyder (with his fresh, and looking like victory based on the buzz, bruises from The Man of Steel) could direct.

And Christian Bale could come back as Batman. That is the key selling point. Bale is Batman in the eyes of the public, more so after all the charity work he's done since the release of The Dark Knight Rises. And the goodwill left over from the concluding Batman chapter is high with the general public.

But would both Nolan and Bale be willing to essentially retcon the ending to their own story? That they swore to the highest of heavens for the last three years, especially last year during the heavy press circuits, was the final hurrah?

Money talks and stranger things have happen (Bryan Singer is back at 20th Century Fox making X-Men pictures, Michael Bay and Megan Fox are working together again).

Weekend Box Office: March 1-3

Courtesy of Box Office Mojo:

1.  Jack the Giant Slayer - $28 million

2.  Identity Thief - $9.7 million

3.  21 and Over - $9 million

4.  The Last Exorcism Part 2 - $8 million

5.  Snitch - $7.7 million

6.  Escape from Planet Earth - $6.7 million

7.  Safe Haven - $6.3 million

8.  Silver Linings Playbook - $5.9 million

9.  A Good Day to Die Hard - $4.5 million

10.  Dark Skies - $3.5 million

Oh boy...you know it's rough weekend at the box office when John Carter boasted better numbers on this same weekend last year.  Jack the Giant Slayer proved to be not-so-giant, as the $200 million adventure opened with just $28 million (John Carter, by comparison, earned $30.2 million).  That's pretty bad, but better than was originally estimated after the movie's dismal midnight grosses on Friday, which means it's still a reasonably popular choice for family audiences.  Not sure how well it will hold up when it has to compete with Oz next weekend, though.

The other new releases didn't fare much better, as audiences essentially shrugged at both Hangover-wannabe 21 and Over f($9 million), and the horror sequel The Last Exorcism Part 2 ($8 million).

Audiences still love Identity Thief, as this weekend the comedy became the first movie of 2013 to cross the $100 million mark at the box office.  Taking advantage of Jennifer Lawrence's Oscar win last week, Silver Linings Playbook earned $5.9 million - a 3% bump from last weekend.

Next weekend, we're off to see the wizard as Sam Raimi's prequel Oz: The Great and Powerful opens in theaters.

Official Logo for '300: Rise of an Empire'

This is how bad weekend news has been.

Warner Bros. has released - via the film's Facebook page - the official logo for 300: Rise of an Empire (a film that's about 3 years too late), the prequel to 2007's 300.

While I've always felt 300 was a rather overrated film for it's time, a sequel/prequel has been talked about for years so it serves as no surprise one finally got made.

I'm not too familiar with the film's story (as I could not find an official synopsis) but it obviously takes place before the events in 300 and I believe revolves around Rodrigo Santoro's character from the first film, Xerxes, the Persian emperor.

It should be noted as well that neither the original film's star Gerard Butler nor director Zack Snyder are involved in this project, a HUGE absence considering much of the original's success centered on those two.

No official release date has been set, though considering the film's logo, it's safe to say it'll be out sometime this year.
