Muppets Get a New Release Date

A year from now, we'll have all seen the new Muppet movie (because of course we're all psyched for this movie, right? Right?!) According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has moved the release date for The Muppets Movie from Christmas to Thanksgiving weekend, where they hope it will have the same kind of box office luck of their current Thanksgiving hit, Tangled.
Directed by James Bobin from a script by Nicholas Stoller and Jason Segel (who also plays the lead human role), The Muppets Movie is the first big-screen appearance of the Muppets since 1999's Muppets From Space. Segel stars as the lead human character trying to help the Muppets save their old theater. As typical of a Muppet movie, the movie has a small army of a cast, including Amy Adams, Ricky Gervais, Emily Blunt, Zack Galfinianakis, Rashida Jones, and Chris Cooper.
The Muppets Movie will now open on November 23, 2011.
