Movie Moan - The Magical Growing Beard Of Sharlto Copley

You can watch this week's show on Blip:
Or on Youtube:
This is the first show we've ever done where I just gave up trying to moderate or structure it. Jamie and Gabe Toro, film critic for The Playlist and Jump Cut Junkies just kept talking so I just hit the record button and you join them right in the thick of discussing Honey Boo Boo and Sean Connery slapping women's bums.
Once we get back on track (if we do, it's debatable), we discuss all the news to come out of the D23 Expo, the lack of news on you know what, how Pixar needs to bring back traditional cel animation, and another rant on 'Mystery Box' marketing.
Oh, and we review 'Elysium' (and one particular heavy spoiler is contained therein).

Any show that can find a way to reference JUST CAUSE and RHINESTONE is a winner! The ELYSIUM conversation was particularly interesting, and Jamie and Gabe’s dissection of Jodie Foster’s character and her portrayal was especially on point.
Phil, this is completely off-topic anything you talked about in this week's show, sorry. Man of Steel finally arrived at my local discount theaters where we see most of our movies (my parents are cheap, I'm cheap and poor and unemployed at the moment). So my parents went to see it (I didn't feel like going and I told them to let me know if they liked it and I'd see it later on my own). We love action movies and yet they both complained there was way too much action and it was exhausting. So I probably will be catching this one on dvd if at all ever. Honestly, I am far more intrigued by Wolverine but I'm a much bigger X-Men fan these days than Superman and the Wolverine reviews and trailers here have been very good. So, yeah, pass. Sorry, Phil. But I will get around to seeing it one day.
In tomorrowland's defense, shooting only started 2 days before d23, So they couldn't show anything
Damn depressing news about Elysium.
Sigh what a bummer of a summer.
@Brett Blake
I feel accomplishment. Thank you.
@Shelly
Don't you worry about some comic book movie right now. I feel so bad for you that you're poor and unemployed at the moment; seriously. We like to look after our fans here. You make sure to let us know as soon as that situation changes. We won't sleep much until we know. Gabe certainly won't.
@Jdd
That is certainly true but I doubt anything would have been done differently even if it was in the can already.
@Lou
Indeed. I think we'll reflect on said summer next week.
Awww, it's sweet of you to be concerned, Phil, thanks. :) It's why I enjoy Movie Moan - it's nice to escape and have a few laughs.
@Lou, I mean no disrespect to anyone who thought Elysium was going to be a hit, but were you all watching the same trailers I was? The movie just looked so dreary and depressing. I know what they were trying to do with it and I don't know who it was here who said this (Jamie I think?) but people don't want to see movies reminding them of real life problems, they want escapism and fun. I would've chosen We're the Millers over this any day of the week.
Hey Shelly!
No disrespect taken. All I can to your Elysium trailer reaction is that the trailers for District 9 were in the same vein and we all know how that movie turned out.
Phil
Look forward to your summer recap show.
Psst! There's a rumour floating that like some recent movie delay announcements the Movie Moan - MOS Special is being moved to 2014. ;-)
