    District 9 Trailer

The full trailer has been released for the Neill Blomkamp-directed, Peter Jackson-produced "District 9" and it's quite an eye catcher -- even if some of the CGI betrays the film's modest budget.

There is more of the plot given away here and a better look at the Aliens and some of the action, but still no real sense of who the main protagonist is. And some may be put off by the pseudo documentary style. However, I think for those looking for a fresh and original piece of Sci Fi, this may well be the movie to deliver.

"District 9" will be released on August 14th and you can check the trailer out below.

Will Smith involved with the worst plot in movie history!

Will Smith, Mr. "can do no wrong" in the golden land of Hollywood. Ok so no one really liked Seven Pounds but other than that he's a hit machine. Well he is teaming back up with his "I Am Legend" director Francis Lawrence for the dopiest sounding film ever according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Francis Lawrence may be reuniting with his "I Am Legend" star Will Smith for a fantastical drama titled "The City That Sailed" at Twentieth Century Fox.

The director is developing the project, which is being produced by Smith's Overbrook banner, with an eye to direct.

Written by Andrew Niccol, the story follows a New York City street magician whose daughter, because of family circumstances, lives in England. In exploring a lighthouse one day, the girl discovers a room with magic candles and wishes to be reunited with her father, causing the island of Manhattan to break away and drift across the Pond.

I mean really? I'm sure there are those that are just glad it's not the proposed prequel to "I Am Legend" which I guess would have been called "I Am Nearly Legend" or "How To Become A Legend" but this just sounds dreadful, Still I guess there will be one SFX money shot for the trailer.

Come on Will, give Michael Bay a call and make Bad Boys III, God knows Martin Lawrence could use the work and in a recession one should not be selfish, plus it will also spare the world "Big Momma's House 8."

    "Whip it!" with Ellen Page

USA TODAY has an exclusive first batch of stills from Drew Barrymore's directorial debut "Whip it!."

"Whip it!" stars the diminutive Ellen Page as Bliss Cavender, a small town girl who loves indie music and is a bit of social misfit, she finds solace competing in a roller derby league in Austin Texas.

The film is based on the book "Derby Girl" by Shauna Cross and seems to provide the mega talented Page with another quirky role in a similar moluld to her break out turn in cult favourite "Juno." (Yes I am aware she was in mega hit X3 but I think we can forgive her for that.)

It will also be interesting to see how ET's buddy Drew does behind the camera, I've always dug her as an actress, I think she has a natural fun charm that makes her sexier than the dozens of stick insects with silicon jugs roaming around Hollywood, however can she turn her hand to the other side of the camera? I've got faith, especially with the material at hand and the awesome Page has her lead.

Get your first look at Megan Fox's 'Body'!

"WHAT?" I hear you cry. "Ive already seen Megan's body, I worship her Maxim shoots daily." No people! what sort of site do you think this is? *wags imaginary e-finger*. I am talking about getting a look at the first footage from Megan Fox's new movie, the Diablo 'Juno' Cody scripted 'Jennifer's Body'.

This first trailer is pretty solid in my view. Ive heard people liken it to "Ginger Snaps" but since Ive never seen that I am going to have to take their word for it, my view is that it comes off like a darker teen comedy filtered through a horror movie. It does look reasonably entertaining and of course for all you horndog scallywags, Miss Fox is looking smokalicous as usual. Check the trailer out below and for you sensitive types beware, there is a naughty word and some blood because this a red band trailer.

    Poster for 'Surrogates'

Our friends over at Comingsoon have debuted the first one sheet for Bruce Willis' sci-fi actioner 'Surrogates.' It has the same metalic blue tinge as 'Minority Report' and 'I, Robot,' but is a solid, if basic, poster that uses the star to sell the movie as opposed to making a creative poster.

    Trailer Trifecta!

Another trailer blitz today, first up we have 'Couples Retreat' starring Vince Vaughn, Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman and Jason Bateman amongst others and looks like a tonne of fun.

Great location ? check, sexy ladies ? check, funny actors ? check, relatable subject matter ? check, seems like a good time to me.

Next up is 'The Informant' starring a chubby un-Bourne-like Matt Damon as a corporate informant in a satirical comedy from Steven Sodebergh. Personally I'm not a a fan of Sodebergh, I often find his movies drab and dull, but Damon shines in this role like never before and turns this into an instant must see for me, this is a real step out of his comfort zone.

Last but not least we have Sundance Festival 2008 favourite 'Assassination of a High School President'.Now this movie garnered great festival reviews as a cross between popular TV show 'Veronica Mars' and Rian Johnson's acclaimed 'Brick. however Ive read this trailer does not do justice to the movie so watch it with that in mind, personally I feel it looks great from the trailer so my hopes are high if this is a badly cut job. Unfortunately due to a number of legal issues you can read about at /film, this may end up going straight to DVD.

    Columbia take 'Uncharted' Course

Video Game adaptions are notoriously tricky, so far most have not been much better than average with many falling well below average. So it's with mixed emotions that fans will greet the news from The Hollywood Reporter that Columbia have optioned the rights to make a movie from PS3 mega hit 'Uncharted: Drakes Fortune'.

The studio is developing the action-adventure video game for a feature film, setting Kyle Ward to pen the adaptation that would be produced by Avi Arad, Charles Roven, Ari Arad and Alex Gartner.

The story follows a descendent of explorer Sir Francis Drake, a treasure hunter named Nate Drake who believes he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden statue. The search becomes competitive when a rival hunter joins the fray, then is racheted up several notches when creatures -- actually mutated descendants of Spaniards and Nazis -- begin attacking those hoping to learn the treasure's true secrets.

The game, from Sony Computer Entertainment, sold 1 million copies in the first 10 weeks of its release at the end of 2007.

Coincidently I just bought the game in the PS3 Platinum range the other day and the sequel 'Uncharted II: Among Thieves' is due out later this year. The game's vibe is bound to draw comparisons with movies such as the Indy films, 'Romancing The Stone' and 'The Mummy' and may just be the most movie friendly material yet attempted in the videogame to movie adaption stakes.

To give you idea of what to expect Ive put the trailers from both games below.

    Trio of new Trailers!

Three new trailers for three very different types of movie have arrived online, leading the way is a trailer for 'Daybreakers', a movie that has been made a fair while, in fact last reports on it were in late 2007. Looking at the trailer it's not hard to see why the studio have perhaps struggled to decide how to market it, with it's unusual blend of vampire and sci fi apocalyptic movie looking quite original in it's presentation.

Next we have a trailer for Ashton Kutcher's new movie 'Spread', a film I'd not actually heard of until I saw this trailer and judging from it 'Spread' is a mildly indie rom com with Kutcher trying out a new voice to separate himself from his usual character.

And last but not least we have the trailer for 'Amelia', the biopic of female pilot Amelia Earhart starring Hilary Swank and Richard Gere. Sure to be dubbed "Oscar bait" by many, whatever else it certainly is a lavish looking movie with some glorious shots and cinematography.

    Trailer for 'The Box'

Richard Kelly shot to fame, at least in the movie community, with his acclaimed 2001 curio 'Donnie Darko'. He followed that with the pretty much panned 'Southland Tales' and now finds himself with his most commercial offering to date with 'The Box', starring Hollywood megastar Cameron Diaz.

The trailer gives off a Hitchcock filtered through the Twilight Zone vibe and the central concept certainly has an intriguing element to it, whether Kelly can tie that together into a satisfying thriller or drop too far off into weird territory remains to be seen.

'The Box' opens October 30th and you can check out the trailer below.
