"Harold & Kumar 3" Begins Production

The ensemble cast has been set for Mandate Pictures’ and New Line Cinema’s third installment of the Harold & Kumar film franchise, which began with the 2004 cult hit “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.” John Cho (“Star Trek,” TV’s “Flash Forward”) and Kal Penn (“Superman Returns,” TV’s “House”) reprise their title roles in the holiday-themed comedy, which recently began principal photography on location in Michigan.

The first of the Harold & Kumar comedies to be shot in 3-D, the film is being directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson, marking his major feature film directorial debut. Academy Award®-winning producer Greg Shapiro (“The Hurt Locker”) and Mandate president Nathan Kahane return as producers. The screenplay is by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who wrote the previous two movies and directed the second, “Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay.” They are also serving as co-producers, together with Nicole Brown, who is overseeing the project on behalf of Mandate.

It would not be a “Harold & Kumar” film without Neil Patrick Harris, who reunites with Cho and Penn in the cast. Returning “Harold & Kumar” cast members also include Paula Garcés (TV’s “The Shield”) as Maria; Danneel Harris (TV’s “One Tree Hill”) as Vanessa; Bobby Lee (“Pineapple Express”) as Kenneth Park; and Eddie Kaye Thomas (“American Pie,” HBO’s “How to Make It in America”) as Rosenberg.

Joining the “Harold & Kumar” ensemble are Tom Lennon (“17 Again,” TV’s “Reno 911”) and Danny Trejo (“Grindhouse”). Rounding out the new film cast are Amir Blumenfeld (TV’s “Pranked,” CollegeHumor.com), David Burtka (TV’s “How I Met Your Mother”), Fred Melamed (“A Serious Man”), Patton Oswalt (“The Informant!”) and Richard Riehle (“Halloween II”).

Harold and Kumar were introduced in the first film of the series, “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle,” which follows two post-college friends on their search for the best pot and snacks that suburban New Jersey has to offer. The second film, “Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay,” found them being mistaken for terrorists and having to clear their names—with the help of old friend Neil Patrick Harris.

The new “Harold & Kumar” comedy picks up six years after the duo’s last adventure. After years of growing apart, Harold Lee (John Cho) and Kumar Patel (Kal Penn) have replaced each other with new best friends and are preparing for their respective Christmas celebrations. But when a mysterious package arrives at Kumar’s door, his attempt to deliver it to Harold’s house ends with him inadvertently burning down Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree. With his in-laws out of the house for less than a day, Harold decides to cover his tracks rather than come clean, and reluctantly embarks on another ill-advised but hilarious journey with Kumar, taking them through New York City on Christmas Eve in search of the perfect Christmas tree.

Collaborating with Todd Strauss-Schulson behind the scenes are: director of photography Michael Barrett (“You Don’t Mess with the Zohan,” “Bedtime Stories”); production designer Rusty Smith (the “Austin Powers” movies, “Elf”), editor Eric Kissack (“Brüno,” “Role Models”), and costume designer Mary Claire Hannan (“Into the Wild”).

The film is a production of Mandate Pictures and New Line Cinema and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

    "The Green Hornet" International Trailer

The good folks over at ScreenGeek, have released the trailer to "The Green Hornet". I have never heard of ScreenGeek but I like the site. The international trailer for "The Green Hornet" on the other hand, not so much.

The more I see of this movie the less I like it, and I didn't like what I saw in the first place. I guess that means it hasn't been a giant drop for me, more like a slow descent.

I don't see how this flick resonates with the general public. I like Rogen, I like the idea of "The Green Hornet" but I see the general public flocking the other way on this one. Let's hope I am wrong for the sake of Geeks everywhere.

    "Scream 4" Set Pics

A new site on the block called BeforeTheTrailer.com has released some set pics from "Scream 4". There are some shots of Courtney Cox's and Neve Campbell's chairs as well as Wes Craven doing some directorial things. Not all that exciting, but a full functioning set nonetheless.

We all know how this is going to pan out and it will all start with Neve Campbell's character getting slashed and mashed in the opening sequence. Check out some of the photos below or head over to the site above for the rest.

"What's Your Number?" Continues Boston Shoot

Any chance I get to pimp my hometown I'm going to do it. Call it a conflict of interest if you want, but it's not like I am painting my face or anything. "Gotta support the team."

"What's Your Number?" starring Anna Faris and Chris Evans has been filming in and around the Boston area the past several weeks.

According to the Loaded Gun, a scene with Faris riding a bike and wearing a pink bridesmaid gown was  filmed in the Back Bay on Boylston street. There were also crews filming in the vicinity of The State House at the 21st Amendment Bar.

Previously, there was a huge wedding sequence being shot at an estate in Cape Ann and additional scenes shot in Gloucester at Good Harbor Beach. Head over to the Loaded Gun for additional information on upcoming movies shooting in and around the Boston area.

If you are interested in seeing Anna Faris completely naked while filming one of the scenes in Boston for "What's Your Number?" then venture over to What Would Tyler Durden Do.

    Stalking Wayne & Garth

I'm reading yet another Robert B. Parker mystery featuring my favorite detective, Spenser, when I see Wayne and Garth flashing across the television in the background on the local news. Apparently there are rumors floating around that "Wayne's World III" is filming and they were caught on Google Maps!

The picture shows Wayne and Garth with an unknown female presumably between takes of "Wayne's World 3". Stop. I don't know what to make of this, but it sure is damn funny. Guerrilla marketing? I would say no, but if it was, smart move.

Most likely Dana Carvey and Mike Myers are heading to a birthday party to entertain a mass of six year olds similar to that scene in "Ghostbusters 2". Considering their career paths, that doesn't seem that much of a reach.

Party time at 6 Headland Park, Plymouth, United Kingdom.

    "The Dry Land" Official Trailer

"The Dry Land" official trailer has been released you can check it out on Apple. For more on the film head over to the Official Site or the Official Facebook Page.

James (Ryan O’Nan) returns from Iraq to face a new battle—reintegrating into his small-town life in Texas. His wife (America Ferrera), his mother (Melissa Leo), and his friend (Jason Ritter) provide support, but they can’t fully understand the pain and suffering he feels since his tour of duty ended. Lonely, James reconnects with an army buddy (Wilmer Valderrama), who provides him with compassion and camaraderie during his battle to process his experiences in Iraq. But their reunion also exposes the different ways that war affects people—at least on the surface.

This moving, taut story of redemption and reconstruction extends beyond a post-traumatic-stress-disorder narrative. O’Nan is heartbreaking as he explores the depths of his internal struggle; Ferrera fearlessly tackles her role of a young wife in turmoil. The Dry Land is about one man’s fight within his own terrain—his country, home, and mind—and his journey to rebuild what he’s lost.

Meryl Streep Negotiating For Margaret Thatcher Biopic

When I see Meryl Streep on screen bringing the noise on the acting front, I want to just weep with joy at how solid this classy women is at her craft. She can play funny like a comedian on steroids and turn the dial up on the drama like a teenager who gets her I-Phone taken away. Anything she is attached to, I am attached to.

So it looks like I am going to the local multiplex to see the biopic of Margaret Thatcher. According to THR, Meryl Streep is discussing the possibility of re-teaming with "Mamma Mia!" director Phyllida Lloyd for "The Iron Lady". The film is a biopic about former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Streep would be portraying the famous political figure.

The film is set to start shooting at the end of the year and Jim Broadbent is in talks to play Denis, "The First Husband" if you will. I wasn't a huge fan of "Julie & Julia" but Streep owned the role as Julia Child. I actually forgot it wasn't actually her while watching the film. I had to remind myself, "not a documentary".

Cast Of "Scream 4" Screaming For Help

Seems like a lot of these actors on the set of "Scream 4" are getting stabbed in the back. A couple weeks ago we heard that Lake Bell had exited the project due to scheduling conflicts. She was set to play a deputy that went to school with Neve Campbells character. That role will now be played by Marley Shelton according to Heat Vision. The website also reports that OC's Adam Brody has joined the cast as an officer fresh out of college. We know why Brody is here, to add some comic relief along with actor Erik Knudsen, who will be playing a character similar to Randy's. I'm confused, wasn't it reported that Hayden Panettiere was playing the film geek?

Ghouls on Film is reporting that there has been multiple script changes and that Lauren Graham of "Parenthood" and "Gilmore Girls" fame has now exited the project pointing to said changes as one of the reasons. The script changes are also getting to a lot of the cast members, making for an uneasy set.  Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox Arquette, David Arquette, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Nico Tortorella, Anthony Anderson and Marielle Jaffe are all stationed in Michigan as Wes Craven is now lensing the project based on the Kevin Williamson script. Which draft? Nobody knows.

    What Heat Vision Is Saying:

To preserve the identity of the killer, Craven and Williamson are operating under several layers of secrecy, including not sending the script to agencies. At a table read last week, the actors were told to stop reading at page 75 to prevent even those already cast in the film from knowing the climax.

    First Look: "Burlesque"

The red, white, and blue, journalists over at USA Today have published first look photos from  "Burlesque". Check out a couple of them below and head over to the link above for the rest. Steve Antin's November 24th release stars Cher, Christina Aguilera, Eric Dane, Cam Gigandet, Julliane Hough , Peter Gallagher, Alan Cumming, Kristen Bell and Stanley Tucci

They had me at Christina Aguilera. She sings like a champ, is pleasing to the eye, and the girl actually has some acting chops. You combine that with the awesome eyebrows and character acting of Peter Gallagher and I'm sold. Not to mention Stanley Tucci will be in it.

Ali (Aguilera) is a small-town girl with a big voice who escapes hardship and an uncertain future to follow her dreams to LA. After stumbling upon The Burlesque Lounge, a majestic but ailing theater that is home to an inspired musical revue, Ali lands a job as a cocktail waitress from Tess (Cher), the club's proprietor and headliner. Burlesque's outrageous costumes and bold choreography enrapture the young ingenue, who vows to perform there one day.

Soon enough, Ali builds a friendship with a featured dancer (Hough), finds an enemy in a troubled, jealous performer (Bell), and garners the affection of Jack (Gigandet), a bartender and fellow
muscician With the help of a sharp-witted stage manager (Tucci) and gender-bending host (Cumming), Ali makes her way from the bar to the stage. Her spectacular voice restores The Burlesque Lounge to its former glory, though not before a charismatic entrepreneur (Dane) arrives with an enticing proposal.

    Behold! New "Megamind" Poster

The men in tights at SuperHeroHype have dropped their exclusive first look at the new poster for DreamWorks' "Megamind". You can enjoy the heroics of Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill on November 5th in theaters and Imax on November 5th.

"Megamind" a diabolically funny, and satirical take on the superhero genre. We follow the story of Megamind, the most brilliant supervillain the world has ever known – and the least successful. Over the years, he has tried to conquer Metro City in every imaginable way. Each attempt, a colossal failure thanks to the caped superhero known as "Metro Man." The super hero movie as know it will never be the same again.
