"Client 9: The Rise And Fall Of Eliot Spitzer" Trailer

You can now watch the official trailer for CLIENT 9: THE RISE AND FALL OF ELIOT SPITZER exclusively on Apple Trailers.

Presented by Magnolia Pictures & directed by Alex Gibney

CLIENT 9: THE RISE AND FALL OF ELIOT SPITZER premieres on VOD (iTunes, On Demand, Amazon, Vudu, XBOX Live & Playstation) October 1, 2010 and opens in theaters November 5, 2010.

This documentary feature takes an in-depth look at the rapid rise and dramatic fall of New York Governor Eliot Spitzer. Nicknamed "The Sheriff of Wall Street," when he was NY's Attorney General, Eliot Spitzer prosecuted crimes by America’s largest financial institutions and some of the most powerful executives in the country.  After his election as Governor, with the largest margin in the state's history, many believed Spitzer was on his way to becoming the nation's first Jewish President. Then, shockingly, Spitzer’s meteoric rise turned into a precipitous fall when the New York Times revealed that Spitzer - the paragon of rectitude - had been caught seeing prostitutes.   As his powerful enemies gloated, his supporters questioned the timing of it all: as the Sheriff fell, so did the financial markets, in a cataclysm that threatened to unravel the global economy. With unique access to the escort world and well as friends, colleagues and enemies of the ex-Governor (many of whom have come forward for the first time) the film explores the hidden contours of this tale of hubris, sex, and power.

Magnolia Pictures Pushes Back "Down Terrace" To 10/15

We just received word for Magnolia Pictures that DOWN TERRACE has been pushed back a week. DOWN TERRACE will now release theatrically on 10/15.

Father and son Bill and Karl (real life father and son Bob and Robin Hill) have just been released from jail free and clear, but all is not well at Down Terrace. Patriarchs of a small crime family, their business is plagued with infighting. Karl has had more than he can take of his old man's philosophizing and preaching, and Bill thinks Karl's dedication to the family is seriously compromised when he takes up with an estranged girlfriend who claims to be carrying his baby. To make matters worse, there’s an unidentified informant in their midst that could send them all to prison for a very long time, and none of their associates can be trusted.

Matt Reeves Plays Coy About Superman

Another director who found themselves on "The List" of directors being considered for the new Superman flick has responded to the news. The good guys over at JoBlo caught up with Matt Reeves in Austin while there for the debut of "Let Me In" at Fantastic Fest.

The first Reeves said he heard of his attachment to Superman was when a fan came up to him at Fantastic Fest and told him about it. "I was surprised," he told us in an interview that will air next week on the AITH Podcast. "I really have no idea if any of that is true. It's certainly an amazing project, but I would be surprised..."

To me Reeves was playing this very close to the vest, almost tongue-in-cheek if you go strictly by the quote. I mean he could have the gig, he could have been involved two months ago but not now, he could be still up for it. Who knows? Good thing is that there is finally some news.

Reeves does seem to be a very likely candidate. I love Duncan Jones for the gig, but I wouldn't mind Matt Reeves either, and it makes a lot of sense. If you remember, his name was brought up with "Wolverine 2" as well. Plus his last name is Reeves. Come on. George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, maybe it's fate?

So far two of the directors on "The List" have responded to this news, let's see if the remaining three are game.

Duncan Jones Talks Superman Via Twitter

I have to say, when I read the list of possible Superman director candidates yesterday, I was pleased as punch to see that Duncan Jones was on there. I absolutely loved "Moon" and for me, it would be interesting to see him get the opportunity to bring Superman back to theaters.

Today Duncan Jones acknowledged the report via His Twitter Account:

Of course the tweet was pulled soon after, but through the magic of the interwebs, it still exists somewhere in cyberspace.  While we're at it, Duncan, if you're reading..how about casting Selleck as Pa Kent if you get the gig?

Superman: The Search For A Director

I know many of the readers of our site and geekdom in general have hearts that are racing just a little faster upon hearing there are some possible directors in the running for the upcoming "Superman" film. Finally there is some news of substance concerning the Man of Steel.

TOLDJA! is reporting that Chris Nolan and his trusty sidekick Emma Thomas are red boot deep in the search for a "Superman" director. The dynamic duo are meeting with candidates and will present their choice to The Brothers Warner & Legendary Pictures in the next several weeks.

On the short list are Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Jonathan Liebesman, Duncan Jones, and Zack Snyder.  Zack Snyder (Watchmen) and Tony Scott (Use IMDB) are the big dogs on the list, along with Matt Reeves.  I personally would love to see Duncan Jones get the gig,  I loved "Moon". My money however is on Jonathan Liebesman but that is only if something happened with him and the "Clash Of The Titans" sequel or by some miracle he could fit it in.

Keep in mind, in the end it could be none of the directors on this list, which we've seen time and time again through past casting news on several films. Buckle up, this will certainly ignite more news.

Warner Premiere Greenlights Bryan Singer's "H+" & McG's "Aim High" Digital Series

Warner Premiere has reached an agreement with Dolphin Entertainment to co-finance and co distribute a number of  digital series. The Bryan Singer produced sci-fi tale "H+" will be the first of two series that have been greenlit. The other is McG's "Aim High" involves a high school double agent. Check out the synopsis below.

    H+

H+ takes viewers on an episodic two-and-a-half hour, apocalyptic journey into the future where technology has gone horrifically wrong.  In 2019, 33% of the world’s population uses a radical new piece of technology – an implanted computer system called H +. This allows a person’s mind and nervous system to be connected to the Internet 24 hours a day. But that same year, a mysterious and vicious computer virus is released, and within seconds millions of people died -- leading to radical changes to the political and social landscape of the planet. H+ is produced by Bryan Singer.  The series comes from writers John Cabrera (Gilmore Girls) and Cosimo de Tommaso who also serve as executive producers. It will be directed by Stewart Hendler (“Sorority Row”) and produced by Lance Sloane (Yucatan). H + is currently in pre-production and shooting expected to start by the end of the year.

    Aim High

“Killing people is easy. High School is hard,” according to lead character Nick Green. Aim High is the story of a young man leading a double life - juggling his studies by day and serving as a government agent by night.  This series chronicles the life of Nick Green, a sophomore who’s just starting a new school year as one of the country’s 64 highly trained teenage operatives. When he’s not handling international spies, Nick is dreaming of Amanda Meyers, the most popular girl in school who’s cool, intelligent and very alluring. Aim High comes McG.  Peter Murrieta is the Executive Producer. The series is written by Heath Corson and Richie Keen (Living with Abandon) who also serve as Executive Producers, directed by Thor Freudenthal (Hotel for Dogs) and produced by Lance Sloane).  Pre-production is underway and shooting will take place in Los Angeles this October

    "Spider-Man" Promo Poster Among Others

The good peeps over at Collider were sent some promo images from one of their loyal readers. Among the posters for "The Smurfs", "MIB 3", "Arthur Christmas" was a promo poster for the new "Spider-Man" flick. Granted it wasn't anything that new, Collider previously posted a similar image back in early June, but worth reporting nonetheless.

Some not so in touch people believe this to be the first teaser for the new "Spider-Man" flick, even claiming the name of the flick is going to be "Spider-Man 3D" or "Spider-Man In 3D". Not so much. It would be pretty dense if the studio came out with a flick with a new actor playing "Spider-Man" called "Spider-Man 3D" after the last flick was called "Spider-Man 3".

This is simply a promo poster, to get the word out there, most likely at various shows and conventions. You can see it is the same font as the Raimi flicks, I'm sure that will also be updated going forward as well.

Marvel Hoping For "Black Widow" Film

In my mind, "Thor" and "Captain America" are huge questions marks at the box office. Although "Thor" seems to be getting the better interweb buzz, I feel like "Captain America" will outgross "Thor", at the very least domestically. That being said, all of these films are being made with one thing in mind and one thing only, "The Avengers". The team up film is the end game, but according to Marvel studio head Kevin Feige in an interview with SuperHeroHype, the studio has been thinking about what happens beyond "The Avengers".

Q: Has there been any more talk of a Black Widow solo movie?
    Feige:
We've already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts, but "The Avengers" comes first.

I didn't love "Iron Man 2" but I didn't think Scarlett as Black Widow was anywhere near the film's biggest problem. I wouldn't mind seeing her back in tight black again, but I'm not sure a possible "Black Widow" solo film would really break the bank. See "Elektra".
