"Super 8" Super Bowl TV Spot

“To me, all people need to know is that it’s an adventure about a small town and it’s funny, it’s sweet, it’s scary and there’s a mystery: What is this thing that has escaped? What are the ramifications of its presence? And what is the effect on people? But I know that’s not enough. Look, I feel we need a little bit of a coming-out party because we are up against massive franchises and brands and most people don’t know what ‘Super 8? means. We’re a complete anomaly in a summer of huge films … and we don’t want to be so silent or coy that people don’t care or don’t hear about it.”

“This is a movie about overcoming loss and finding your way again and finding your own voice,” Abrams said. “A boy whose lost his mother and the man whose lost his wife. There’s this father who, because of the era, never really had to be the parent. He’s a good man, he works hard, he’s a deputy in the town, but he’s never stepped up as father.”

Has Jessica Biel Already Been Cast In Superman?

I can't even wrap my mind around all of the info that is flying around in regards to the upcoming Superman reboot. Front and center is the news and rumors being tossed against the wall involving the female lead along side Henry Cavill.

First we heard that Kristen Stewart was involved on some level, then we heard she wasn't. Then we heard that along with Stewart, Malin Akerman, Dianna Argon, Jessica Biel, and Rachel McAdams were up for Lois. After that came the news that Olivia Wilde was also in the running. Next we were hit with the news that Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike were up for the female lead and it wasn't Lois. Assumptions were launched that Lois wasn't in the film until we heard today that the three blonde bombshells were vying for the role of Ursa. I'm tired just typing it.

Is it possible that one of these fine ladies has already landed a role in the next Superman film and it just hasn't been announced yet? Come fly with me as I speculate.

On February 1st "Complacent Film" tweeted that Jessica Biel was spotted wining and dining with Zack Snyder.

The next day, February 1st, Biel was spotted leaving a medical center in Beverly Hills. Could it be possible that while enjoying a nice lunch with Snyder she found out she landed a role in Superman pending a physical? When an actor is or is about to be cast in a role they have to take a physical for insurance purposes. Is this the case with Biel, or is her lunch with Snyder a fantasy and her medical exam simply a routine check up?

Call it speculation or connecting the dots, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Eve, Kruger, & Pike Tug At Superman's Cape

It's been one news story after another slapping us in the face since Henry Cavill was announced as the new Superman in Zack Snyder's reboot of the franchise, mostly dealing with who will be playing the female lead opposite of Cavill. What's Playing fired the first shot reporting that Kristen Stewart, Malin Akerman, Dianna Argon, Jessica Biel, and Rachel McAdams were fighting it out to cuddle up to Superman as Lois Lane in the next installment. Then Latino Review chimed in with the news that Olivia Wilde was also in the mix for the role of Lois Lane.

Soon after there was a flurry of denials and speculation regarding Kristens Stewart's involvement in the casting process, did she read or didn't she, we ultimately found out her attention was now turned to "Snow White & The Huntsman". Now new information has surfaced regarding additional possibilities for the female lead. Variety is finally making an impact on the Superman news front, they have revealed that Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike are also circling the casting couch for the female lead in the Superman flick.

The trade is very clear that that the role is not that of Lois Lane, which has caused some internet chatter. "No LoizLanez! Oh Noes!" Personally, if Lois didn't make an appearance in the film, I would be perfectly fine with it. We've seen Lois enough don't you think? "Superman The Movie", "Superman II", "Superman Returns", not to mention on television with "Smallville" & "Lois & Clark". Lois overload.

All of that that being said, if you think about this situation for a moment, seems like the Nolan Bros & Warner Bros could possibly be casting two female leads. Another possibility is that Lois could have a reduced role in the new Superman film with another character taking the reins as Superman's go to female counterpart in heels.

What other females could possibly be in Superman's life besides Lois and Ma Kent you ask? How about Lana Lang, Clark's childhood sweetheart? We've seen her in "Smallville" and we were treated with her in "Superman III". She would be a welcome addition to the big screen along side Lois or even by her lonesome. Another possibility is Cat Grant. She's played a significant role in the comics working at the Daily Planet, and she always seems to place herself in Clark's field of vision.

I don't know if it is just me, but Alice Eve looks a lot like the comic book version of Cat Grant. You sign her up as Grant, Biel or Wilde as Lois and I am all in. Who knows what is going to happen at this point, but in regards to the casting of the female lead, looks like this will be resolved in the next couple weeks. Just a guess on my part of course, but things are moving FAST. Faster than a speeding bullet even.

    "Ironclad" International Trailer

The year is 1215. King John (Giamatti) has been forced to sign the Magna Carta, a document that will ensure the freedom of men and form the basis of common law in England. Furious at having been forced to sign it, King John raises a vicious mercenary army and begins a rampage across the country to regain total power. But as the King’s army is on the brink of reaching London and taking back control of the country, one last castle stands between him and inevitable victory: Rochester.

Gathered together by Baron Albany (Cox), a small band of rebel warriors gather inside Rochester intent on holding off King John until reinforcements arrive: a Templar Knight (Purefoy) whose soul is wracked with guilt over the atrocities he has committed during the crusades and his burgeoning feelings for Isabel (Mara), the beautiful lady of the castle and lonely wife of the aging Reginald de Cornhill (Jacobi); battle-hardened mercenaries such as Beckett (Flemying), who fight not for God and country, but for money and bloodlust; and young soldiers like Guy (Barnard), who’ll taste blood and battle for the first time – and perhaps the last.

    Fanboy: "Levitt Is Teh Jokerz!"

I don't know about you guys out there in "The Land Of Geek", but I felt as though it was almost inevitable that Joseph - Gordon Levitt ended up in "Dark Knight Rises" in some capacity. After they cast Tom Hardy in the role of "Bane" it seemed as though his chances might have diminished. Then yesterday the story breakers over at TOLDJA! dropped that bomb that Levitt would indeed be in the next installment of Batman but as a yet to be identified character. All over the forums and blogs the speculation started to rear it's sort of ugly head.

Much of the first reaction from fanboys involved Levitt taking over the mantle of The Joker from the now not with us anymore Heath Ledger, based off internet rumor spurned by comments from producer Chuck Roven from many moons ago.

"People need to separate the actors from the role. The character was never tied to the actor. On a personal level, Heath was a friend of mine, we had worked together before The Dark Knight, but I still think that The Dark Knight is its own thing, and we have to separate them.”

Tough act to follow if you ask me, but I would be fine with it. That being said, I don't think there is any chance in hell of that happening. Although, I also said there was no way Cavill would be cast as Superman, how's that working out for me? Nolan himself said that The Joker would not continue, and you know it is out of the respect Nolan has for Ledger and his historical performance. That being said, Nolan and company could be protecting their investment.

So if not Joker, maybe The Riddler or The Penguin? Anything is possible I guess. Talking with friend and writer here on TMT Matthew Rapier this morning, he has a different idea of what might be happening with Levitt and Dark Knight Rises. Here is what he had to say:

"What if Joseph Levitt is Dick Grayson but they bypass him as Robin. Bane literally breaks Bruces back paralyzing him and Bruce in turn trains Dick to become the next Batman. Thus Bruce may be finished but Batman will never die. I doubt that's where nolan is going but it would be cool to see. Its hard to tell what Nolan will do. He's great at keeping secrets and throwing everyone for a loop it seems like a route he would take but who knows. I just feel like Bruce is going to be finished as Batman in this movie but Batman will continue on."

Also spoke with friend and Co-Owner of TMT Jamie Williams this morning and he believes that Levitt will take over as the new District Attorney in Gotham, which is also an interesting idea. I'm wondering if he will be playing the dective version Edward Nygma found in Detective Comics as written by Paul Dini and Gotham Underground.

    What do you guys think?
