Universal has released another clip from Scott Pilgrim Vs The World via IGN. Opening in theaters on August 13. The big screen adaptation stars Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Alison Pill, Brandon Routh and Jason Schwartzman.
I seriously hope the joke from Brandon Routh was intended to be delivered like that. Otherwise I may begin to lose interest in this after all. Judging from the trailers and the rest of the clips though I would imagine this jives with the tone of the film. It fits right into Michael Cera's "thing" loser virgin sarcastic scrawny guy, only difference is this time he gets the chance to kick some ass. Should be great!
ScreenJunkies has a shot of the Abin Sur corpse on display at Comic Con in San Diego. For those of you unaware of who this creepy looking purple dude is he's the alien that gives Ryan Reynolds character Hal Jordan the Lantern Ring granting him is awesome giant fist forming powers!
Not much else to say about it, but hopefully with WB/DC focusing on Green Lantern at this years Con this means we can expect to see the first teaser trailer at the very least being released online, fingers crossed!
Those of you at Comic Con this weekend that were lucky enough to squeeze into Hall H would have seen the new trailer from Disney's Tron Legacy. Lucky for us folks that aren't there they also released it online via Yahoo!Movies.
The film is a sequel not a reboot/remake depsite the fact that the first tron was released 1982. The sequel involves Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce Programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin's loyal confidante (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous
This looks like something that could be as visually stunning as Avatar was in 3D, but with an actual intriguing plot to go along with the eye candy. Not to mention it looks all kinds of awesome!
Set to open on December 17th, Tron Legacy stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, James Frain, Beau Garrett and Michael Sheen and will hit regular theaters and IMAX in both 2D and 3D.
Lionsgate has released the first teaser trailer for Saw 3D due out October 29 via IGN. This is said to be the final installment in the Saw franchise according to the producers. My thoughts on his statement are lie to someone else. We've heard it all before.
"It's time to stop," producer Oren Koules told USA Today , "We have told the story we wanted to tell, and this is going to be a great farewell."
I wish I could believe them when they say this is it for the franchise, but you know for a fact if this is even remotely successful they'll find a way to make another one. Nothing you wouldn't already expect can be found in the teaser, which is why this franchise needs to finally give up and die. I'll admit the first saw and maybe even the second one were good, but they've all been shit after that.
Magnolia Pictures "Countdown To Zero" is opening in select theaters on Friday, July 23rd in New York City and Washington DC. Head over to the the Official Website for more information. Below is the synopsis and some pictures for your viewing pleasure.
COUNTDOWN TO ZERO traces the history of the atomic bomb from its origins to the present state of global affairs: nine nations possessing nuclear weapons capabilities with others racing to join them, with the world held in a delicate balance that could be shattered by an act of terrorism, failed diplomacy, or a simple accident. Written and directed by acclaimed documentarian Lucy Walker (The Devil’s Playground, Blindsight), the film features an array of important international statesmen, including President Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, Pervez Musharraf and Tony Blair. It makes a compelling case for worldwide nuclear disarmament, an issue more topical than ever with the Obama administration working to revive this goal today. The film was produced by Academy Award® winner and current nominee Lawrence Bender (Inglourious Basterds, An Inconvenient Truth) and developed, financed and executive produced by Participant Media, together with World Security Institute. Participant collaborated with Magnolia on last year’s Food, Inc., recently nominated for an Academy Award®, and the upcoming CASINO JACK and the United States of Money. Jeff Skoll, Diane Weyermann, Bruce Blair and Matt Brown are the film’s executive producers.
With each new performance, audiences ask "How messed up will Nicolas Cage's hair be this time?" And he's yet to disappoint us!
HitFix has the exclusive "First Look" at Cage in Patrick Lussier's 3D action/revenge thriller Drive Angry. Cage plays an ex-con hell bent on taking revenge out the cult responsible for his daughter's death and kidnapping his grandchild.
Wonder if Cage will accompany his latest "wacky hair" with an odd accent or some speech impediment.
Every time I think of Steven Seagal, Will Sasso's impression always pops in my head. I'm sorry, but never found the dude to be a bad-ass or threatening. Truth be told, can't think of that many Segal flicks of quality – Under Siege and Executive Decision. Everything else belongs in the direct-to-video bin.
But as Machete is about to hit (Are the masses really excited about that one? That last trailer sucked, let's be honest!), Segal is looking for his chance at a career revival – especially in the midst of this 80s nostalgia fest going on.
Word from Movie Hole is he's going the television procedural route. CSI: Seagal, perhaps? The 13-episode series is called Southern Justice (will apparently go by True Justice elsewhere) and showcases Seagal as the big-cheese in a team of undercover cops going after the bad guys in Seattle. There are always worse places than that!
And hey, who knows? Look what procedural "murder of the week" drama did for David Caruso.
It looks like the producers of the new Judge Dredd remake may have found their Dredd. Talk of the remake has been going around for a while now, and it even had quite the buzz at this years cannes film festival.
According to BleedingCool the number one candidate to replace Stallone is Karl Urban. Although Urban may not be a huge name right now, he can be seen reprising his role in JJ Abrams Star Trek 2 as Bones McCoy in 2012 as well as appearing along side Bruce willis in this falls RED.
One of the provisions of the contract if Urban does agree is that just like in the comics Dredd will not remove his helmet for the entire film, which will be shot in 3D, yay! This was the same reason Schwarzenegger originally turned the role down in the 90's and it ultimately went to Stallone. To add insult to injury one of the many things wrong with the previous Dredd amongst fans was the fact that his helmet was actually off for a good portion of the film.
There's certainly no guarantee Urban will accept the role, but if he does it's certainly a sign that this new Judge Dredd won't be anywhere near as terrible as the last incarnation.
With Comic-Con upon us, sounds like Max Brooks couldn't contain his excitement. Considering this news, can anyone blame the guy?
The World War Z author let the cat out of the bag to Music Television. The film version of his acclaimed zombie novel is not only moving forward with director Marc Forster still attached. But it has a big name actor (arguably one of the few Movie-Stars on this planet) attached – Brad Pitt.
Paramount has their sights set on a summer 2012 release where it would join The Avengers and Star Trek 2. That'd certainly be one Helluva slate, fellas.
Brooks' novel takes an unorthodox angle on the traditional "zombie holocaust" story made famous by the great George Romero. Here it's a series of testimonial interviews from survivors ten years after the fact and their encounters with the flesh-eaters.
