"Scream 4" Official Synopsis

The official plot synopsis has been released for "Scream 4". and upon reading it I realized I am still not sold on this flick. I will see it before flapping my gums any further though. Give it a chance Pete. Give it a chance.

Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell).

Unfortunately Sidney's appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.

Stephen Sommers Off G.I. Joe 2

No matter what I think, Paramount is gung-ho for G.I. Joe 2. I'd imagine losing The Avengers to Disney has played a factor in the sequel becoming a priority to fill their 2012 summer release slate along with Star Trek 2. But contrary to reports from last summer, it won't be Stephen Sommers directing.

Reports 24 Frames, representation for other filmmakers confirm their clients have been approached by Paramount to take a meeting over the job. Rumors were rampant leading up to G.I. Joe's release of productions with Sommers reportedly fired, only to be brought back.

Still don't think another two-hour bacon and cheddar fest is a good idea, despite my love of all things cheese. You can only enjoy the taste so long before it gets stale and something like this property I get the feeling would go bad by the second movie. The taste, or in this case the charm of the 2009 movie, would go away.

As for who the studio will lean on to helm, this sounds like a job suited for Rob Cohen, another filmmaker with a cheese-heavy filmography.

Harry Potter Sells 30,000 Copies

That was a big deal back when it first happened.  Of course, now the completed seven-part Harry Potter book series has sold upwards of 400 million copies worldwide, has been adapted into the most successful movie series of all time, and is currently (sorry, Mickey) Orlando's most popular theme park destination.

A pretty damn cool video from around 1998 has been circulating around Harry Potter online fandom this week, and it shows author JK Rowling discussing how many books she was planning past the two that had just been published, whether or not movie versions would be next, and how many languages the books were being translated into.

Considering how big the Harry Potter phenomenon was about to become, seeing Rowling positively flummoxed that her books were actually selling is fun to watch:

Paul Greengrass Rumored as Cleopatra Director

Sony and producer Scott Rudin may have lost out on James Cameron. Goddamn would have that been a coup. But a more alluring director is out there for their planned 3D epic Cleopatra with Angelina Jolie.

Everyone remains rightfully mum on the matter. Hey until all their I's are dotted and T's crossed, it's never a bad thing to shut up. Although their search is said to be coming close to a commitment, and that someone, says "TOLDJA," may be Paul Greengrass.

Since walking away from the lucrative Bourne franchise, the British filmmaker has had his finger in the pie of a number of effects-laden tentpoles that just didn't work out. Most recently came those talks between him and 20th Century Fox for the Cameron-produced Fantastic Voyage remake. Until, whatever reason, he decided to head to Warner Brothers for Treasure Island.

If Greengrass winds up being Sony's guy for Cleopatra and it being a high-priority, I guess that means Treasure Island fell apart. All this bed-hopping from one tentpole to another (Don't forget for awhile he and Matt Damon were hooking back up for Bourne 4) has us all intrigued as to what he'll settle on.

Gareth Edwards to Direct 'Godzilla'

You know that Godzilla reboot we've been hearing about for the past year?  The one that Legendary Pictures is producing?  Well, according to Heat Vision, it finally has a director: Gareth Edwards.  Though his name may not be known to many, he's been earning praise recently for his work on the low budget (like six-figure low budget) alien-invasion flick, Monsters.  The film has won Edwards three British Independent Film Awards, including Best Director, Best Achievement in Production, and Best Technical Achievement.  Legendary was so taken by this guy that they picked up the rights to his low-budget alien film while giving him the chance to bring one of the world's most famous monsters back to the big screen.

Edwards will begin work on the film immediately with a new screenwriter (David Callahan wrote the original script).  A release date is set for some time in 2012 so this thing should be rolling before cameras by the end of the year.

Just to give an idea of what this guy is capable of, I embedded a trailer for Monsters below.  Check it out and let us know what you think:

Gemma Arterton Hunting Witches

Gemma Arterton will co-star next to Jeremy Renner as the brother-and-sister duo turned adult bounty hunters in Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, reports Heat Vision. There is such a thing as context, and I'm certain aware of that. But there’s just that knee-jerk instinctive reaction when I hear of a project like this: "That sounds stupid!"

On the other hand, it could be a Heck of a good romp and, cut to egg in my face. Not the first time that's occurred, as shocking as that might sound.

Production, under the direction of Tommy Wirkola, aiming to start on March 7 in Berlin where Renner will be crunched in between wrapping up Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (Lord save me, what a silly title) and before The Avengers gets going.

Sounds like they really want to beat Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (a similarly themed project that will also struggle with the public between looking cool and stupid) to the punch. Although not confirmed, Paramount is considering slotting it this Halloween beating Honest Abe by nine months.

Superman Audition Leaked?

I do a lot of posting on forums. Especially movie forums. Some might call it a waste of time, others might shout out, "Me too bro, let's drink some a 5 Hour Energy and talk about the ups and downs of Kevin Smith's career!"

Sometimes on these forums you find some interesting tidbits of information from like-minded posters who also share in your addiction to posting and lurking. A poster by the name of SuperZer0 of the Supeherohype Forums posted an interesting video today in the Superman Section.

It appears that Todd Cahoon, a TV actor, posted what seems to be an audition for the upcoming "Superman: Man of Steel" on Youtube. The video looks authentic, but how could that possibly be? There is no way WB would let an audition leak on the internet. Somebody would have to go in Human Target style and steal it for that to even be a possibility.

The only situation where this could be legit that I can think of, is that the actor and his agent sent it in to the studio once they found out WB was looking for a new actor to play Superman. That I can see.

Mr. Cahoon does look the part and seems like he could have some chops. He's been in "Burn Notice", "Desperate Housewives", and "Seven Pounds" among other tv and film appearances. Seems to be a case of an actor trying to drum up fan support and from what we know he is a tad too old for what they are looking for in the new Man of Steel.

What do you think? Fake as it gets or the real deal?
