Hill Valley Revisited: A Back to the Future Location Tour

If Doc Brown had ever made the original trip 25 years into the future that he was planning at the start of Back to the Future, he might have been quite surprised to find out that a lot of his hometown looks almost the same.  Of course, it's actually 27 years later now, but the same fact still applies.

Herve Attia, an apparent superfan of visiting movie shooting locations, has put together quite an amazing look at the various shooting locations used in the first Back to the Future movie, edited in with clips from the movie itself.  Then-and-now sites include the town of Hill Valley, which was mostly part of the Universal Studios tour, but also Marty McFly's high school, the Twin/Lone Pines Mall, the Peabody farm, both locations used for Lyon Estates, and Doc Brown's 1955 mansion.

Hell, even the Burger King that Marty skateboarded past in the opening scene and the tree George McFly fell out of are still there.  Check it out:

So while we may not have invented flying cars or hoverboards yet, at least we can be rest assured that the Twin/Lone Pines/Whatever-it's-really-called Mall now has a TGI Fridays.  Maybe they serve Pepsi Free?

The new comedy stars Anna Kendrick as a misfit college student who finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together. Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Adam DeVine, Skylar Astin and Rebel Wilson also star.

Disney's "Cars Land" Looks Kinda Awesome

Anyone who's been to Disney's California Adventure theme park is well aware that the place has long been in need of a little help.  Since opening in 2001, the park has never been able to attract the kind of massive crowds its next door neighbor, a little place called Disneyland, is able to get even on a slow day.  So over the last few years, Disney has been giving the park a massive overhaul - essentially making it less of a tribute to the state of California and more of a place where you and yours can chill with Mickey and Goofy.  After all, why else would you go to Disneyland?

The biggest addition is Cars Land, a new 12-acre 'land' themed after Pixar's Cars.  Now, whether you love or hate the ongoing saga of Lightning McQueen and Mater, (I loved the first movie, not so much the second)...the Cars franchise is a huge moneymaker for the Mouse, so devoting an entire section is a smart move.  In addition to the obligatory resturants and shops to buy your kids lots and lots of new Cars toys, this new section, which appears to be an almost freakish replica of the film's hometown of Radiator Springs, includes three new rides: Mater's Junkyard Jamboree - a Cars edition of the spinning teacups, Luigi's Flying Tires - a throwback to the Disneyland's original Flying Saucers attraction, and the big e-ticket ride, Radiator Springs Racers - which gives guests the opportunity to ride a racecar through Radiator Springs while being cheered on by some friends from the Cars movies.

You can see a full video of the ride here.  It basically looks like the GM Test Track ride at Disney World's Epcot park, only with more Cars stuff and fewer lectures about the value of anti-lock brakes.  For a quicker look at how the characters look, check out this video, courtesy of Inside the Magic:

We have really come a long way since those animatronic pirates, haven't we?  If this ride breaks down, hopefully they won't eat the tourists either.

Cars Land is set to officially open this weekend.

Fox Sends Out "Taken 2" Inspired Father's Day Card

Taken is the best example of what an action movie should be. It's short and sweet and packed with action from the get go. You care for the main character and you route for him to succeed. You know he is going to win in the end but the ride is enjoyable as hell. Another good example of this according to me, is Unstoppable.

All of that said, I don't really think Taken needs a sequel, I saw everything I needed to see and I was satisfied. I don't blame Fox though, it was a big hit and made some bank, so of course you have to explore it. Below is a nice example of viral marketing from the sequel. Happy Father's Day from Liam Neeson.

"V/H/S" Poster

Movies.Com

Every couple years a great horror anthology comes along and horror fans seek it out like they're spotting some kind of rare, endangered species. There's just not enough of them being made these days, and that's a shame since the multi-story format and horror are perfect together. As such, the horror community has been drooling for V/H/S ever since it premiered back at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, and for good reason.

With segments directed by Adam Wingard (You're Next), Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), Radio Silence, David Bruckner (The Signal), Joe Swanberg (Autoerotic), and Ti West (The House of the Devil), V/H/S is about a gang of friends who are hired to break into a creepy old house and find a specific VHS tape. It seems easy enough, but once they get there, the gang finds mounds and mounds of tapes, and finding the prized one proves tougher than expected once they start watching what's actually on the tapes.

We won't spoil what's on them, but suffice to say, V/H/S does some things with the found-footage format that no one else has done before. You'll see what we mean when Magnolia releases the film through its On-Demand channel on August 31, 2012 and then in theaters on October 5th, 2012. You can find out more about V/H/S over on its official Facebook page.

Following the destruction of Wayne Manor, Bruce Wayne began to assemble key sketches, diagrams, observations, and other top-secret documents germane to becoming Batman; he then entrusted this manual to his faithful butler, Alfred. Every defining moment is detailed here, charting Wayne’s collaborations with Lucius Fox at Wayne Enterprises on the latest cutting-edge technology.

Featuring removable documents, including the design and capability of the famed utility belt, the hi-tech functions of Batman’s cowl, and every detail of his amazing arsenal of weapons and gadgets, The Dark Knight Manual reveals how Bruce Wayne operates as Gotham’s greatest protector.

Sample "The Dark Knight Rises" Soundtrack

I am still wondering if the reason the Man Of Steel composer hasn't been announced is because they are waiting for Hans Zimmer to be completely available and free of his work on The Dark Knight Rises. Either way, Batman-News.Com has 30 second samples of each track featured on the upcoming film.

My favorite of the samples is "Why Do We Fall" and "Rise"
