First Images From "Alpha House" And "Onion News Empire"

"Alpha House" was written by Academy Award nominee and Pulitzer-Prize winner Garry Trudeau ("Doonesbury," "Tanner ’88"). Based on a New York Times article about a group of senators who share a town house in Washington, D.C., "Alpha House" stars John Goodman ("Roseanne," Argo) as John Biggs, a politician who finds out his seat is threatened by a celebrated Duke basketball coach. To make matters worse, Biggs finds out he has to go to Afghanistan as part of the campaign. Mark Consuelos ("American Horror Story: Asylum," "Guys with Kids") also stars in the series.

The live-action comedy gives viewers a glimpse into the fictional offices of the "Onion News Empire," with William Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) playing a harried news director and Jeffrey Tambor ("Arrested Development," The Hangover) taking on the role of an egotistical, self-declared TV legend.

"Onion News Empire" is from The Onion’s Will Graham & Dan Mirk ("The Onion News Network," "The Onion Sportsdome"). Chris Masterson ("Malcolm in the Middle," American History X) also stars.

Whose Line Is It Anyway, Perfect Score, & Breaking Pointe For CW Summer

The CW set today premiere dates for its new summer 2013 primetime series. Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW made the announcement. The network's summer line-up is strategically planned to start in mid-July and continue rolling out into the fall launch.

The CW's summer slate officially kicks off on Tuesday, July 16 with two all-new half hour shows, including the return of the hit improv comedy series "Whose Line is it Anyway?" and the new dating competition "Perfect Score." Premiere night will feature back-to-back original episodes of "Whose Line is it Anyway?" (8:00-9:00p.m. ET) and "Perfect Score" (9:00-10:00p.m. ET). Starting the next Tuesday, original episodes of "Whose Line" will air from 8:00-8:30p.m. ET (with encores at 8:30p.m.), and "Perfect Score" original telecasts will air at 9:00-9:30p.m. ET (with encores at 9:30p.m. ET).

Hosted by comedian Aisha Tyler, "Whose Line" will also feature the return of cast members Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie, who along with a special guest each episode, must put their comedic skills to the test through a series of spontaneous improv games,prompted only by random ideas supplied by the studio audience. Based on the wildly successful U.K. format, which also spawned a previous incarnation in the US that ran for eight seasons on ABC, "Whose Line is it Anyway?" is executive produced by Dan Patterson, Mark Leveson, Jimmy Mulville, Ryan Stiles and Wayne Brady. "Perfect Score," hosted by fan-favorite actress Arielle Kebbel (John Tucker Must Die, "The Vampire Diaries"), puts a unique twist on dating game shows by not only giving players a chance to win a date, but also the opportunity to win cold hard cash -- IF they can successfully identify their perfect match. In each half-hour episode, two friends compete to see who can pick their ideal mate from a group of 12 prospective singles, after both the players and the contestants have taken compatibility tests. These tests are used to assign cash values to each possible match, and the player who selects the most compatible single - with the highest cash value - wins the cash prize and the date! NBC's "Hannibal" Trailer

The series looks at the early days of FBI agent Will Graham's career and the time when he worked alongside Hannibal Lecter - naturally, before Graham realized Lecter was a cannibal. It appears the series is taking a few creative liberties, picking up with Graham being drawn back into the FBI game, which is where we saw him in Red Dragon/Manhunter, but in that book/film, Lecter had already been capture and Will was mentally exhausted/scarred by his time in the field.

Sherlock Is Getting a Fourth Series

Benedict Cumberbatch is getting a lot of work, all thanks to Sherlock. Martin Freeman too has plum gigs lined up, also thanks to Sherlock.

With their growing star-power and busy-schedules, you wouldn't be the only one to think their time as Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson was drawing to a close. Refreshingly that isn't the case. Cumberbatch confirmed to Radio Times he and co-star Freeman have reaffirmed their loyalty to the BBC mystery/adventure series:

"'We've agreed to two more series but I could get into trouble for saying that,' revealed Cumberbatch at the South Bank Show Awards this afternoon.

'All I know at the moment is I'm doing these three [episodes of the upcoming series] and another three.'"

Filming on the third series begins next week. Knowing how the show has transgressed so far, he may have inadvertently revealed this also ends on a cliffhanger. So any chance of fans freaking out and live-tweeting the finale has been avoided. Thanks, Benedict.
