The Walking Dead: Season 3 Preview

Great news for zombie-lovers:  the third season of The Walking Dead started production in Georgia earlier this month and is gearing up for an October start on AMC - this time for a whopping 16 episodes (for those keeping score, Season 1 was 6 episodes, and Season 2 had 13).  Last season's walker-invasion finale, which had me screaming out loud in front of the TV several times, more than teased what will be coming this year, with appearances by zombie-slayer Michonne and the prison where most of this season's action will be taking place.

Courtesy of AMC, we have our first look at what our favorite blood-drenched zombie apocalypse survivors are up to now.  And while we don't get to see Danai Gurira as Michonne or David Morrissey as The Governor yet (although both are mentioned), we do get to hear from T-Dog more than we did all of last season:

First Look At The CW's Arrow

The CW have put the first footage of their Green Arrow show online, it's a clip of Ollie in training and is pretty cool with some chiseled ab pull ups for the Ladies. I think they have cast in the right age range to get the male and female demos and the production values look good. If this matches the quality of the CW'sa other action show 'Nikita' then I'll be very happy.

Arrow starts this fall, Wednesday nights on the CW.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series headed to DVD

    The Green Lantern animated series has offered a number of fantastic episodes since the pilot aired last November. They've surprisingly kept Sinestro out of the season so far and have really built a strong foundation for the Red Lanterns leading up to the inevitable showdown in the seasons end. With the episodes almost wrapped up, Warner Home Video released the specs today for the Season 1, Part 1 DVD coming out on August 28th. Sucks that there is no announcement for a Blu-ray, but you sometimes have to make do with what's given. Check out the details below;

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps embark on their latest intergalactic missions as Warner Home Video (WHV) releases Green Lantern: The Animated Series — Rise of the Red Lanterns (Season 1 Part 1) on DVD. Based on the adventures of the popular DC Comics super hero, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, currently part of Cartoon Network’s DC Nation programming block (Saturdays at 10 a.m. ET/PT), is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and animation legend Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series; DC Universe Animated Original Movies). The two-disc DVD set featuring the first 13 episodes of the CG-animated action series will be available on August 28, 2012 for $19.97 SRP.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series — Rise of the Red Lanterns (Season 1 Part 1) follows Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps on a treacherous journey through deep space. As Earth’s Green Lantern, Hal must face down an invasion from the villainous Red Lantern Corps, who will stop at nothing to destroy and silence the Green Lantern Corps forever. Joined by his former drill sergeant Kilowog, and several all-new heroes, Hal brings the cosmic battle against the forces of evil to the far reaches of the galaxy. Equipped with a new squad and new spacecraft, The Inceptor, Hal and the team set out to protect the universe — and the Green Lantern Corps itself!

“Green Lantern: The Animated Series has really taken us into a realm we hadn’t explored before: our first completely CG-animated series,” enthuses Sam Register, Executive Vice President, Creative Affairs, at Warner Bros. Animation. “Like Teen Titans and Batman: The Animated Series, it’s an incredible, groundbreaking action series, combining the legendary instincts of Emmy®-winning executive producer Bruce Timm and the incredible artistry of WBA’s CG animators. It’s a beautifully rendered, epic space adventure with a scale that’s simply breathtaking.”

“With the release of the live-action movie last summer and the wildly popular Cartoon Network series, Green Lantern mania is at an all-time high,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Vice President of Family and Animation Marketing and Partner Brands. “Warner Bros. Animation is known for creating outstanding animated series, and we are thrilled to be able to bring these new super hero adventures to DVD.”

Executive produced by Sam Register (Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Ben 10), and Bruce Timm, Green Lantern: The Animated Series is produced by Giancarlo Volpe (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Jim Krieg (Ben 10: Alien Swarm). Based upon the popular DC Comics character, the series features the voice talents of Josh Keaton as Hal Jordan, Jason Spisak as Razer, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kilowog and Grey DeLisle as Aya. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Green Lantern: The Animated Series airs Saturdays at 10 a.m. (ET/PT) as part of Cartoon Network’s DC Nation programming block.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series — Rise of the Red Lanterns (Season 1 Part 1) includes the following episodes:

Beware My Power…Green Lantern's Light (Part One)
Beware My Power…Green Lantern's Light (Part Two)
    Razer's Edge
    Into the Abyss
    Heir Apparent
    Lost Planet
    Reckoning
    Fear Itself
    …In Love and War
    Regime Change
    Flight Club
    Invasion
    Homecoming

The DVD also includes a four-page preview of the Green Lantern: The Animated Series comic book.

Take a Chill Pill, Internet - Community Renewed for Fourth Season

    "Six seasons and a movie!"

How does a fourth season sound instead? Per THR, Community will return next season for thirteen episodes.

We know the Internet is in hysterics demanding as much Community as possible. But we have to face facts. NBC is in the midst of a massive overhaul internally. They want to return to their glory days of the 80s/90s. Doing so means cleaning house. Such action isn't exclusive to executives scrambling to save their jobs, but shows viewed as symbols of the old regime. Especially ones that, critically acclaimed and devotedly loved as they are, people let's face it aren't watching.

A shortened upfront order for an established show isn't the kiss of death (Just ask Chuck). But it would be wise to prepare yourself for the possibility that this is it.

    "Wallander" TV Series Trailer

Based on original stories from immensely popular Swedish crime writer Henning Mankell, WALLANDER follows the titular chief inspector Kurt Wallander (Krister Henriksson) as he investigates crimes and solves mysteries in the deceptively dark underbelly of picturesque modern Sweden.

THE REVENGE begins with Kurt Wallander having achieved his life’s dream– buying a house by the sea. Suddenly, a heavy explosion ruptures the peace and quiet in Ystad when the town’s single transformer station is blown up, and more explosive deeds follow. The military is called and the little town starts to look like a war zone. Are the explosions acts of sabotage or terrorism? Everything is chaos and Wallander fumbles in darkness as he tries to chase down the culprits.

First Look at The CW's Green Arrow

Wondercon brought with it many goodies for the geek community (I'm part of it) and one of them was a first look at the outfit Stephen Amell will wear in the CW's Green Arrow TV series which will just be titled 'Arrow'.

Personally I like it, it's modern and sleek looking, basically a more mature and less plasticy version of the reasonably good Green Arrow costume in Smallville.

Exit Stage Left – James Spader Off The Office

Bar none, James Spader was the best of the candidates to replace Steve Carell in last season's finale of The Office. The producers, thankfully, had the sense to see that too, and Spader became the new boss of Dunder Mifflin. Though he isn't in every episode and in a case of rewarding the actor with the biggest film career, Ed Helms was promoted to the head of the office. While Spader became the company CEO coming in and out.

Unfortunately, the writers seemingly played all the tricks they had stuffed in their hats with the Robert California character a few shows into this season. Even picking the right actor hasn't been enough to revive The Office unlike that other time Spader took over a fledging series and brought it back to life. For those of you not old enough to remember, I'm referring to his joining The Practice and that final season going over so well, they spun off Spader's character into Boston Legal.

In the wake of that, Spader will not return for a ninth season (assuming there will be), reports Variety.

Executive Producer Paul Lieberstein (aka Toby) is trying to pass this off like it was their plan the whole time for the California character to only have one season and then move on to greener pastures. Please, don't insult our intelligence, Sir.

Carell doesn't show any signs of returning to guest-star, co-star/writer Mindy Kaling will leave if her pilot at Fox gets picked up, Helms and John Krasinski are both said to be wanting to leave (Both their contracts expire this season) and then there's the matter of that God awful sounding Dwight spin-off for Rainn Wilson. NBC, we know you're still bleeding for programming. But do everyone a favor, take The Office out back and shoot it in the head.
