Commence Nerdgasm: Avatar 2 Footage Exists & It Has Screened

You hear vague, non-committal Avatar 2 "updates" from Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana every so often. Currently penciled in for Christmas 2015 release, but that’s a pipe dream knowing the meticulous process of post productions. James Cameron and the WETA bad-boys spent close to two years rendering all those shots. And you know what? That hard work shows on the screen.

So while it's the early days for the sequel, Cameron's producing partner Jon Landau screened test footage recently:

"He then showed a series of clips, starting with a live capture created on a stage last November, which was set on Pandora and featured a human as well as the Na'vi. 'This was our first foray into what we wanted to do,' Landau told the audience, pointing to noticeable improvements in aspects of the image including lighting and shadows."

Second Scene-Specific & Intense Gravity Trailer is Here

At this rate, they might release the whole film.

A second trailer for Alfonso Cuarón's Gravity is here less than 24 hours after the last trailer was released. Again, not the typical trailer laying out the plot with dialogue, montage of scenes and Billing Order. It's a scene directly from the film. And like last time (AKA: last night/this morning), it is frightening.

This feels like a commentary on the reports of audiences laughing during the teaser trailer. Those are not exaggerated by the way. I've seen it firsthand myself. People snickered at Sandra Bullock floating away in the nothingness of space. A scary thought to us; the cause of laughter to some cell-phone playing jackasses.

New Poster for SAVING MR. BANKS Looks Cute, Apparently Has Colin Farrell

The Walt Disney Studios Facebook page has just posted a new poster for their upcoming Christmas "feel good and cry" film, Saving Mr. Banks.

Check out the new poster for Disney's Saving Mr. Banks, starring Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks. In theaters this December.

A doting father, Walt Disney (Hanks) promises his adoring daughters that he will bring their favorite fictional nanny Mary Poppins to the big screen. Little does Walt realize that surly author P.L. Travers has no intention of seeing her most famous creation bastardized on the big screen, a fact that makes keeping his promise a difficult endeavor. Just when it begins to appear that the rights to Mary Poppins have slipped through his fingers, the ingenious Disney reflects back on his childhood, and realizes that a sensitive chapter from Travers' youth could be the key to clinching the deal. Bradley Whitford, Paul Giamatti, and Jason Schwartzman co-star.

Apollo Creed's Grandson To Be Punching His Way Into Theaters Soon..

Frutivalle Station director Ryan Coogler has his sights on CREED, a continuation of the Rocky franchise; but this time the grandson of Apollo Creed takes the spotlight, and he might be played by Coogler's recent Fruitvalle Station star Michael B. Jordon.

    The always reliable Deadline reports:

-this whole idea also came from Coogler. When he signed with WME, Coogler identified Creed as a dream project. While Coogler already had the relationship with Jordan, the agency put him together with Stallone. Stallone, who is right now heavily involved in a stage musical transfer of his original Oscar-winning 1976 film Rocky, loved the idea and felt it was strong enough for him to bring back his signature screen character. Stallone and Coogler then approached MGM’s Gary Barber and Jon Glickman, and they flipped for it. The film will be produced by Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff, who produced the original, along with Stallone and Kevin King.

Now I agree with the writer later on in the article when he says Jordon definitley has the ability. I haven't seen Fruitvalle Station; but going off of his performance in NBC's "Friday Night Lights"; I can see Jordon bringing the same physical intensity and heart to this.

The plot is as follows, which means you'll see Stallone back as Rocky Balboa.

The intention is for Jordan to play the grandson of Apollo Creed (played in the early movies by Carl Weathers). Raised in an upper-crust home thanks to the ring riches earned by his grandfather, the young man doesn’t have to box and his family doesn’t want him to. Yet, he has the natural instinct and gifts and potential that made his grandfather the heavyweight champion until Rocky Balboa took his crown in 1979′s Rocky II. Creed’s grandson needs a mentor and turns to Balboa, who is out of boxing completely and not eager to return.

Maybe I should finally watch these movies.

47 Ronin Trailer Looks Expensive & Shitty

The money is all there. That much can be said about the much-buzzed about (for all the wrong reasons) 47 Ronin from first-time helmer Carl Erik Rinsch. It just doesn't look particularly good, unless they were going for Intentionally Bad.

Which could be the case considering the overreliance of Keanu Reeves here. A story about 47 Japanese warriors and yet the focus is on the white guy. I'm sure that will sit well with everyone.

Mr. Go Trailer Is the Stuff Warped Dreams Are Made Of

Mr. Go is not a case of cultural divide. What is acceptable elsewhere is looked at differently in the United States or vice versa. Not true at all; we have had our stock in the Animals Playing Sports sub-genre on film. Why is this any different? IT'S A GORILLA PLAYING BASEBALL.

Need I say more? The sadistic side of me (read: me in general) wants to see this go horribly, violently wrong. And hey, this is one step closer to a real life Gentle Ben talk show if this becomes a commercial juggernaut in the foreign markets. Until that day happens, watch this trailer.

    TV Spots for The Wolverine

The Wolverine opens tomorrow night and the media blitz is on. Our very own Jen Mayhew saw it last night and had nothing but raves. That could be her meeting Hugh Jackman talking (at 1:41). Like none of us would be speechless in front of the adamantium wonder too. Across the board, word is strong on the latest X-Men opus. So knock on wood, First Class wasn't a fluke and those gravy days of the Bryan Singer reign are here to stay.

In the meantime, here are the latest TV spots:

47 Ronin? Try 4 Cool Posters

This will not cool down all that bad buzz of reshoots, release date shifts and dropping its own director. But for a first look, these 47 Ronin posters (courtesy of IGN) are pretty cool. First one is of course the star of the film Keanu Reeves.

Now some good-looking footage and maybe Universal can turn this puppy around like Paramount did to World War Z.

From ancient Japan’s most enduring tale, the epic 3D fantasy-adventure 47 Ronin is born. Keanu Reeves leads the cast as Kai, an outcast who joins Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada), the leader of the 47 outcast samurai. Together they seek vengeance upon the treacherous overlord who killed their master and banished their kind. To restore honor to their homeland, the warriors embark upon a quest that challenges them with a series of trials that would destroy ordinary warriors.
