Transformers 3 Casting Call

Do you enjoy craptacular movies? (yes I made that word up it suited the situation best) How would you like to be in one? Well now is your chance,  Acting Auditions has a casting call for a pre-vis sequence in Transformers 3 filming next week. Basically you'd be at an industrial property posing for Ukraine. In Gary, Indiana of all places.

The casting call revealed the length of the shoot to be from May 17 to July 1. A very short time frame, Michael Bay doesn't waste time when making crap, if he were to take his time who knows he may have to involve some sort of story in the movie, don't worry, this is not the case here, I assure we'll get a lot of giant alien robots blowing shit up and kicking ass for no apparent reason.

Transformers 3 opens July 1 2011.

"Dinner for Schmucks" Trailer

Paramount has released the trailer for what might possibly be the most awesome movie title of the year: Dinner For Schmucks, starring Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, and Zach Galafianakis.  The story reminds me a little of the 1991 movie Dogfight...only funny this time.

Dinner for Schmucks will open July 23rd.

New Clip From "Toy Story 3"

A new clip has been released from Toy Story 3. The clip features the gang being taken on a "dream tour" around the daycare by Ken.

After 11 years since the last movie in the franchise, Toy Story 3 hits 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on June 18. It'll be interesting to see what the boxoffice turn out is after such a long absence from the big screen. The previous two installments earned $846 million collectively in their original run in theaters.

Jay Baruchel "Was" Maxwell Lord...

Do you remember Warner Bros on again off again plans for the Live Action "Justice League" movie, Well at a point when it was "on again" according to Teresa Palmer via an interview with MTV Jay Baruchel was attatched to play Maxwell Lord and  Palmer was apparently set to play Talia Al Ghul, she said she'd still like to play the role at some point.

The more I here from this project, new news or old, I'm glad it was put into development hell. Now  lets just hope it stays there. Doe's anyone really "want" to see an Armie hammer Batman? I know I don't, thats not to say I'm not open to interpretations other then Nolan/ Bales TDK Batman, but I do hope Warner Bros takes a little more time with the casting when they eventually get around to the inevitable 'Justice League' movie which we know is coming, With Marvel kicking DC's ass in Big Screen adaptions and Avengers on its way, they'll have to do something...

"Real Steel" NOT Headed for 3D!

With the 3D craze nearing out-of-control proportions these days, I thought it was worth nothing that at least one big-budget movie (featuring robots, no less) will not be headed to an overpriced 3D screen near you.

The movie is Dreamworks' Real Steel, which is scheduled to start filming in June, and directed by Night at the Museum's Shawn Levy.  It's based on a Richard Matheson short story - which was also adapted as a Twilight Zone episode - and takes place in a future where human boxers have been replaced by robots.  Hugh Jackman plays an ex-boxer who finds some luck promoting an unlikely robotic boxing champ while bonding with the 13-year-old son (Dakota Goyo) he didn't know he had.

Speaking with MTV Movies Blog while out promoting his new comedy Date Night, Levy describes the film as "part sports movie, part relationship drama, part action flick."

"It's a weird amalgam," Levy says. "What it's not is 'Transformers' or 'Terminator.' There's definitely shades of that 'Rocky' paradigm. There's shades of 'Paper Moon,' in that it is a father-child road movie. And it's really kind of a redemption movie. It's got some humor, but it's definitely not a comedy. It's got a lot of action, really kind of muscular action, and a lot of... heart."

But no 3D.  Partly because several other 3D films will be released at the same time, but mostly because Levy wants the the film to focus on the father-son relationship, and having the 3D effects wil just relegate it to "that robot boxing movie.

Which it will probably be called anyway, but it's nice to hear anyone saying they want to concentrate on story and character rather than obsess over 3D.

Meanwhile, Real Steel's star, Hugh Jackman, was also asked the dreaded 3D question on the red carpet at the New York premiere of Date Night, this time in regards to Wolverine 2.  While he praised Christopher McQuarrie's script, calling it "the best one we've had," and did confirm that at least part of the movie will be filmed in Japan, there's no word on whether or not the sequel will be in 3D.  And I hope it won't be.  It really doesn't need it.

Real Steel is set to hit theaters on November 18, 2011.

Tom Arnold Jumps aboard 'Battleship'

Tom Arnold will now hopefuly shut up about True Lies 2, as he's been cast in Peter Berg's 'Battleship' along side Taylor Kitsch (Gambit in Wolverine). no details were revealed as to what part Arnold will play, but his co star Kitsch will be playing a Naval commander named Alex Hopper in the film.

Arnold himself revealed he is part of the cast in a reaction to a Movieline article. "Doing Pete Berg's 'Battleship' in Australia in August," he said.

The script, by Jon and Erich Hoeber, sees an international fleet come together to battle a water-bound armada of otherworldly origin.

I can't really say that I'm that much more excited to see this than Hasbros other big screen adaption of Stretch Armstrong starring Twilight's Taylor Lautner as the lead.

Mark Strong talks Sinestro in Green Lantern

Mark Strong recently talked to USA Weekend about playing Sinestro in the upcoming Green Lantern.

"For anybody who's familiar with the Green Lantern and the origin story, the film closely follows the early comics," Strong said. "Sinestro starts out as Hal Jordan's mentor, slightly suspicious and not sure of him because obviously Hal is the first human being who's made into a Green Lantern. He's certainly very strict and certainly unsure of the wisdom of Hal becoming a Green Lantern."

Strong added that "[Sinestro] is a military guy but isn't immediately bad. It's the kind of person he is that lends himself to becoming bad over the course of the comics being written, but initially he's quite a heroic figure."

The actor said that the costume and other aspects of the character closely follow the character's early days. "That widow's peak and thin mustache was for some reason originally based on David Niven, and Hal Jordan was based on Errol Flynn," said Strong, who recently got fitted for special Sinestro contact lenses.

"In the '30s and '40s, they shared an apartment together in Hollywood when they were making movies and they were great friends. Obviously at the time, whoever was doing the original comics must have looked at them as guys doing very well in the film industry, and based those characters on them. So I would like to do justice to the Sinestro that was conceived for the comic books."

By the sounds of Strongs comments, we'll be seeing more of the "good" Sinestro then the villain, much like what was done with Harvey Dent/ Two Face in The Dark Knight.
